Artificial Intelligence (AI) will bridge development gaps, empower small businesses and communities across Asean, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

00:13Almost 700 million citizens, a rapidly growing digital economy,
00:20and an extraordinary diversity of cultures, languages.
00:24Our region is uniquely placed to shape AI.
00:28It weighs the inclusive, ethical, and true Taoiseach values.
00:36If we approach this moment with foresight and courage, AI can bridge development environments,
00:44empower small businesses, uplift rural communities, strengthen public services,
00:51and expand access to healthcare, education, and more pronounced justice.
00:58Now, we have therefore to be very bold and principled.
01:04Our vision is not only to harness AI, just to catch up to the rest of the world,
01:11but to lead in some areas, to protect our values, to give meaning to the principle of equity and justice.
01:24So, in doing so, Inshallah, God willing, God willing, we will ensure that the true pressure of AI's success is not just the sophistication of its technology.
01:40My work, coming from my generation, is really complex and sophisticated.
01:47And worse, having this digital ministry, coming out with all these ridiculous terms,
01:54sounds great to me, forcing me to understand and grasp such an ordeal.
02:01So, I am not sure whether I regretted or not having this digital ministry.
02:06But clearly, as you have seen, we have made a very bold decision.
02:12And I am proud to say that we are ahead and falling ahead with such confidence in terms of digitalization and AI.
02:27And we want to share this and work together with our neighbors in South Asia, in the ASEAN community framework.
02:42Minister Gobind has looked at the launch of the Native Malaysia Plan, our bolder blueprint for the next five years.
02:52Again, let me reiterate, at the heart is one conviction, digital transformation must drive sustainable and inclusive growth.
03:08Now that the center of this transformation is our mission to be an AI nation.
03:16And, not as a tool for a few, but a force for all.
03:25Powering better governance, which is a major challenge for most economists.
03:30Not only in the economy, but the so-called developed world.
03:34Better governance, sparking innovation and improving lives.
03:43So, through our AI nation framework, we will ensure that AI works for every Malaysia in every corner of the country.
03:54That is why I began by making reference to this very traditional religious institution, which is small.
04:05We have hundreds and thousands of students choosing or opting for that.
04:11And we leave them, then the divine will become real.
04:15And the challenges for the country will be serious.
04:20And it is therefore pertinent that the elites, ethnocrats, have to grasp this and start dealing with this as a priority.
