00:00President Putin did not support the agreement President Yeltsin made never
00:10to interfere with Ukraine's territorial boundaries. An agreement he made because
00:14he wanted Ukraine to give up their nuclear weapons. They were afraid to give
00:20them up because they thought that's the only thing that protected them from an
00:23expansionist Russia. When it became convenient to him, President Putin broke
00:29it and first took Crimea. And I feel terrible about it because Ukraine is a
00:38very important country and I feel a personal stake because I got them to
00:43agree to give up their nuclear weapons and none of them believed that Russia
00:48would have pulled this stunt if Ukraine still had their weapons. So I think what
00:54Mr. Putin did was very wrong and I believe the Europe and the United States
01:00should continue to support Ukraine. There may come a time when the Ukrainian
01:06government believes that they can think of a peace agreement they could live with,
01:13but I don't think the rest of us should cut and run on them.
