00:18Three-eight-year-old Uribe, who was running in the upcoming presidential elections in Colombia,
00:23was shot three times, twice in the head in an attack during a campaign rally in the city of Bogotá on June 7.
00:28He remained in an intensive care unit for more than two months, with an episode of slight improvement.
00:35Miguel Uribe Turbay was a lawyer and had a master's degree in public policy from the University of Los Andes.
00:41The senator came from one of the most influential families in Colombian politics.
00:46Turbay belonged to the far-right Conservative Democratic Center Party and was the grandson of Julio César Turbay Ayala,
00:53former president of Colombia from 1978 to 1982.
00:57His mother, Diana Turbay, was a journalist who was murdered by the Medellín cartel in 1991.

01:47Also on ex-Senator Ivan Cepeda expressed his condolences and solidity to the family, friends and fellow party members of the senator and presidential pre-candidate Miguel Uribe Turbay.
02:01Cepeda added that he hopes that the perpetrators of Uribe's murder are punished under criminal law and that political violence disappears in Colombia.
