We speak to people at a fundraising event at the Mercure Hotel, Telford to raise money for Dean Harris who has been left paralysed after a horrific bike accident.

00:00So the fun day today is to raise funds for Dean. He was in a motorcycle accident at the

00:06beginning of June. The worst injury being the paralysis that he suffered from the spinal cord

00:14injury. Obviously we're raising as much as we can for him, his family are going to need every

00:22penny that they can get. Journey forward, this will be handed over to Dean when he's out of hospital.

00:31It's not going to be a one-off event. He will be able to take over that. That's what we're hoping

00:38anyway. And he can raise money for people that are in a similar situation next year.

00:46Yeah, yeah. Sorry, go on. So we've got lots going on. We've got competitions. We've got guests,

00:56the name of the teddy, guests, number of sweets, guests, the balloons in the car. We've got a

01:01tire man competition going on for all the men with their muscles. Music, fun, stalls. We're just all

01:09here to have a good time. Absolutely. Lots of grass for a picnic. Wonderful. I suppose the support is

01:15fantastic, isn't it? I mean, you've had tremendous support. Have you got any figure in mind about

01:19how much you plan on raising? Like I said, every penny is going to help him. Yeah. So anything we

01:25do raise, it will be amazing. It will go on for kind of ongoing care. Yeah. I mean, we raised 400

01:33pounds before the event even started today. Wow, brilliant. So we're hoping to get as much as we

01:38possibly can for him. Absolutely. Well, fingers crossed. I'm sure it'll be a great day. Absolutely.

01:43Whoever's helping as well. Okay, Joe. So you're Dean's partner.

01:48Just explain what today means to you here at the hotel. Well, the amount of support is just

01:54unbelievable. You know, Dean had this accident just a little over two months ago,

01:59and the hotel has just rallied and brought all of this together. And just speaking on Dean's behalf,

02:08I just can't tell you how grateful he is, and we all are, for this. He's on a new journey.

02:16Yeah. His spirits are good, and he's going to get through. Yeah. And he's anxious to get back to work.

02:22Yeah. And you say his spirits are good. They are. Yeah. They are. He is probably the most

02:28positive, courageous man I've ever met in my life. And so you plan to get married, yeah?

02:38At some point in the future, when I get over here permanently. That's it. That's it. Well,
