Yellowstone is facing yet another obstacle, this time over the highly expected sequel about Beth and Rip. And of course, the main reason is the negligence of this franchise by Taylor Sheridan himself.

00:00Yellowstone's future is in danger.
00:02Beth and Rip's spinoff series, which is arguably the most important Yellowstone sequel that
00:07will act as the sixth season of the prematurely cancelled series, is facing the risk of being
00:12revoked completely.
00:13Yes, you heard it right.
00:15First we got the news that the Dutton Ranch title was just a rumor, then Kohlhauser expressed
00:20that the show still has no story whatsoever.
00:23And now, we are struck with the news that the show might be cancelled completely.
00:27I mean, what the hell is happening to the Yellowstone universe, and why do we keep getting negative
00:32updates about one of its most anticipated shows?
00:35Let's talk about it.
00:36You might remember that after Yellowstone ended abruptly in the beginning of the year, Paramount
00:41has made a big announcement.
00:43In this announcement, they revealed that even though the original series has ended, this
00:47is not the end of the franchise.
00:49Instead, they are working on multiple new shows, mostly sequels, that will act as the future
00:55of the Yellowstone storyline.
00:57And the most prominent of the bunch is a spinoff series focusing on Beth and Rip and their
01:02new ranch.
01:03As a highlight on how much of a continuation this show is to the original Yellowstone,
01:07it was also stated that the release date will be November 2025, exactly a year after Yellowstone's
01:13final season premiere.
01:15Honestly, at the time, it felt poetic to hear these words.
01:19After all, we were heartbroken by how things were handled in Yellowstone's finale.
01:23And this new show presented a new hope for the future of the franchise.
01:27Plus, after waiting two years for Yellowstone Season 5 Part 1, and then yet another year
01:32for Part 2, it didn't feel too much to wait a year for a brand new show within the franchise.
01:37Correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I can tell, we were happy, excited, and hopeful
01:41for the future of this beautiful universe that we invested years in.
01:46And then, everything started to collapse once again.
01:48First, it is revealed that the title will be The Dutton Ranch, which sounded great, and
01:53yet Kohlhauser did not lose any time to crash our dreams about the title, as he said these
01:58were baseless rumors and the show will not have such a title.
02:02I don't know if it's just me, but he also sounded a bit bitter about it, as if the suggested
02:06title was an insult to the show or something, which I found odd.
02:10I mean, what is wrong with the Dutton name, am I right?
02:13Our beloved Kohlhauser did not stop there, though.
02:16Soon after this statement, he came out and said in June that the show was yet to have
02:20a clear storyline.
02:22Can you believe it?
02:23Remind you, this show was supposed to out in November, and now, just five months prior,
02:27they revealed that they don't have a scenario at hand.
02:30Which is crazy to me, and honestly, it is also pretty irresponsible.
02:34I mean, I lost the count of how many times Taylor shared and prioritized other shows of
02:39his over Yellowstone projects, but I know that this is one of those cases that we can
02:43absolutely blame his priority issues for.
02:46And now, just a couple of days ago, Paramount revealed that the show's release schedule
02:50has been updated and delayed to 2026.
02:54I mean, is any one of you shocked to hear this?
02:57Because honestly, after these blow after blows, I was already expecting such news.
03:02And guess what I expect to hear next?
03:04Of course, none other than the cancellation news.
03:07Because my friends, I'd like to remind you that we experiences the same exact process
03:10with Yellowstone season 5 part 2, they first postponed it for like a couple of times, and
03:16then BOOM, they revealed that this was actually the last season, and the show was cancelled.
03:21Seriously, like, I can't believe Paramount keeps disrespecting us like this over and over
03:26again, and yet here we are, still desperately hoping that we are wrong and things will turn
03:31out great in the end somehow.
03:33Now, the reason behind the delay seems to be a mix of factors.
03:37If you didn't know, Paramount Network recently merged with Skydance, which has caused some
03:42reshuffling and re-budgeting across several projects, not just the Dutton Ranch.
03:47And yes, despite Cole's dismissiveness of the title, I'll keep referring to the show like
03:51this until something better comes.
03:54Anyway, this merger probably means the studio is making sure the show gets the resources and support
03:59it deserves before filming begins.
04:01I mean, not gonna like.
04:03I kinda get it.
04:04After all, it's a big production with high expectations, and rushing it would be a disservice
04:09to the characters and fans like me who want the best.
04:12Do you see how I'm still holding on to the positive thinking?
04:15That's how much I adore this franchise, but let me know if I'm alone in this.
04:20Another practical reason is timing.
04:22Paramount's fall schedule for 2025 is already packed with Taylor Sheridan's shows, which
04:27I briefly mentioned just a second ago.
04:29Mayor of Kingstown Season 4 is slated for October 2025, and Landman Season 2 is set to
04:35drop in December.
04:37Admittedly, adding the Dutton Ranch to this crowded lineup might have been overwhelming.
04:42And yes, spacing out these shows more strategically will give each one room to breathe and shine.
04:48That being said, personally, I still struggle to understand how Mayor of Kingstown can be
04:53prioritized over the Yellowstone franchise.
04:55But hey, that's just me, I guess.
04:58So what exactly will the Dutton Ranch be about?
05:01As the title suggests, it follows Rip and Beth's journey, continuing the story from where
05:05Yellowstone left off.
05:07We know these two characters have been through so much, both separately and together.
05:12So it wouldn't be so surprising to hear that Rip's toughness and Beth's fierceness are
05:17going to be front and center in this new show, as they navigate what it means to run a ranch
05:22and a family.
05:23The story will explore Rip and Beth's relationship in more detail, including the ways they're
05:27trying to build a new legacy, all while handling the personal and external conflicts that come
05:32with their pasts.
05:33Plus, it's expected to address the possibility of Rip and Beth starting a family, something
05:38that's been hinted at, especially considering Beth's complicated history with infertility.
05:44It's a chance to see these two grow and evolve beyond what we witnessed in Yellowstone, giving
05:48us a new chapter filled with familiar faces and fresh challenges.
05:52As for the cast, right now, we know for sure that if the show actually comes to fruition,
05:58Cole Hauser and Kelly Riley are reprising their roles as Rip Wheeler and Beth Dutton.
06:02It's comforting to know the actors who have brought these characters to life will be
06:06the ones continuing their stories, keeping that authentic connection alive.
06:11Alongside them, Finn Little will return as Carter, Beth, and Rip's young son.
06:16And I'm really excited to see them as a family.
06:19Unfortunately, besides these three, there's been little news about additional cast members,
06:23and filming has yet to officially start.
06:26Finn Little even posted a photo of himself sporting a cowboy hat and a beard, captioning it,
06:30been a big week, ready for the weekend.
06:33This sparked hope among us that the famous cowboy camp, which is a traditional start of
06:38filming gathering for Yellowstone productions, might be on the horizon.
06:42However, there's no official confirmation yet about the filming schedule.
06:46And with the series delay, it's likely production hasn't kicked off, which is a huge bummer.
06:51And I'm crossing my fingers at this point that we wouldn't get that dreadful cancellation
06:55news anytime soon.
06:57But my tongue was burned by Taylor and Paramount before, so I'm proceeding with caution.
07:02Let me know what you think, though.
