Swansea City’s youthful cohort, exemplified by 17‑year‑old Sam Parker, are thriving under Alan Sheehan’s guidance. Sheehan, impressed by Parker’s debut, emphasised that “if you’re good enough, you’re old enough”.
Inspired by strong form and a permanent head coach appointment, the emerging Swans are gearing up to compete fiercely, buoyed by confidence, momentum, and a culture built on energy and resilience.

00:00let's take a look now at swansea city and looking at their upcoming championship season now last
00:10season for swansea was let's be honest quite mediocre in terms of what they can achieve and
00:16what they're capable of as a club of course swansea a club who in the last you know 10 10 or so years
00:23were an established premier league club and yet since then since they've gone down to the
00:29championship again they've never really challenged enough to get themselves back into england's top
00:35flight now as i mentioned last season was mediocre and sort of a testament as to where they are at as
00:41a club at the moment but what can they achieve for the upcoming season certainly in the transfer
00:46market they've they've tried to sort themselves out and add depth and quality to their squad but
00:53is it or will it be enough to at least challenge the top half of the championship and be anywhere
00:58near the playoffs i don't think that they'll be capable of going on an automatic promotion push
01:03given the fact that some of the clubs who will probably be in that race will have just come
01:08down from the premier league and will have those parachute payments and already quality squads
01:12themselves but will they be able to at least get themselves into the top half and have
01:16a bit more of a memorable season that remains to be seen but to find out more let's go to our
01:22wales sports correspondent charles higg jones charles what can you tell us about swansea city
01:27and what we can expect from the swans going into the championship season have they done enough
01:32during this transfer window so far to at least be a bit more competitive than they were last season
01:37of course no card of city in the championship this season but wrexham are in the championship so
01:43will that perhaps play into what they try to do or should swansea just concentrate on themselves
01:49and ultimately be the best of the welsh teams once again in english football so what can we expect
01:55from wales in the upcoming season yeah obviously um it's been quite a loud um summer for swansea
02:03city off the pitch with their their ownership situation um a lot of stuff going on obviously
02:09the managerial change making alan sheehan the permanent boss um you know one thing you have to say
02:15about sheehan he's got such a proactive approach um you know mid-table sort of disappointment last
02:22season he emphasized strengthening the squalling increasing that sort of depth ahead of this
02:26campaign as well and and how you know important that actually is so um you know they've focused
02:32their window on attacking reinforcements have spent one and a half million pounds on you know
02:38officially recorded you know plus undisclosed fees as well um they've had a few players come in i mean
02:44it's not really a transfer window that's going to blow your breath away like the likes of of wrexham
02:50have had with their sort of interests of different players as well also in the championship next season
02:54it's going to be uh interesting to see when when these guys meet um but for swansea city i mean
02:59you know they go away to to middlesbrough uh in that first game another team that have sort of
03:06disappointed a little bit and have high expectations and haven't really met them over the last couple of
03:11seasons swansea are in that boat swansea are in a boat with a number of teams you know the likes of
03:16of watford bristol city whole city um middlesbrough themselves as well where you know you have clubs
03:22coming up from league one the likes of wrexham and birmingham city they have massive investment
03:26then you have the guys dropping down from from the premier league as well who couldn't sustain that
03:31and become another group of premier league um promotion teams to come straight back down so you've got
03:38those to compete with as well and then you have this group of of teams now group of clubs at the
03:43moment who just don't know where they lie they're in that bit of pool of uncertainty uh swansea is
03:49certainly in there and i mean i can see them going really well at times i can also see uh consistency
03:54maybe costing them but what they do have is alan sheehan he is the the prize asset for me in terms of
04:01of the player um sorry in terms of the managers to sort of get them forward get them that that proactive
04:08as i say really positive guy a lot in that first game of way at millsburg to hold their own there
04:13would be uh fantastic for sheehan's side but um as a whole i do think right now they maybe lack a bit
04:21of goal threat they lack a bit of um cohesion across the entire side they haven't added as much depth
04:27that they maybe would have liked and invested as much as other clubs so i think it will be a bit
04:32of a struggle at times this season but um you know i'm confident that sheehan can deliver again
04:38and get some really nice runs going on again so um that could be good for the swans fans
04:43and get some really nice questions
04:47to see you next week
04:49so
