Sara Smith from Brandywine Valley stopped by our beautiful patio outside our studios with two 7-year-old Heeler Mix Twins: Blue and Spot. The funny part is Blue has spots and Spot has no spots!! They are just the most adorable little pups and Brandywine Valley SPCA is looking for a home for both of them together.
Transcript
00:00We're back. Piazza, Pet of the Monk, Dawn Stensland here with Sarah Smith.
00:05We've got Blue, we've got Spot, and this is a special duo up for adoption. Right, Sarah?
00:11Yeah, we're so excited to feature the two of these guys.
00:13This is, I think, one of my favorite things, you know, to get to meet really wonderful pets,
00:20dogs and cats that need a home, whether... Now, as far as Blue or Spot, you could also foster them, Sarah?
00:28Yeah, sure. You know, we would love to see them out of the shelter, no matter what.
00:31If it's a short stay or a full-time adoption, we would love that.
00:35Just stop on by and meet them and see what you can do to welcome them into your home.
00:39And what is special about these two brothers?
00:42They're brothers. They're littermates, and they're seven years old, and they are a bonded pair,
00:47so they need to be adopted together. They really rely on each other,
00:50and we know that the right family is out there for the two of them.
00:54We've talked about this, Sarah.
00:55Sarah, sometimes people, because of money, because of a move, let's say, because of health reasons,
01:01and they entrust you with their beloved pets to make sure that their family members get a good forever home.
01:09Yeah, you know, these two had to come back to us.
01:10They were with us a few years ago, but we're here to help them find a new family.
01:15We know that they've lived with other animals, and, you know, this is us helping our community.
01:19You know, whenever you adopt from us, we're there for you to support you.
01:24It's an unfortunate situation that these two ended up back with us,
01:27and their owners are entrusting us to find a new adopter for them, but we know that they're out there.
01:32They're really sweet.
01:34I will say just their demeanor, just very laid back, very sweet.
01:37We're out here.
01:38It's a pretty hot day, and they're really patient.
01:41They really just want to be lapdogs.
01:43I mean, they would be great for really any, like, more relaxed family, you know?
01:48I mean, I'm sure that kids would be fine with them, but it would be more like they're not going to play with them all the time.
01:54So, you know, great for a single person, really any family.
02:00And they've lived with other pets, so we know that they're good with other animals, too.
02:03What kind of dogs are they?
02:05So we know that they're some sort of mix with a healer, a blue healer mix,
02:09which is kind of how they get their name, Blue and Spot.
02:12You know, but we never know the full breed lineage of our dogs because most of them come in as strays.
02:18So originally they had come as part of our Second Chance program from the South.
02:23They really are so sweet.
02:24They're entering their golden years, and they really need a soft place to really relax and settle in
02:31and just have that be their forever home.
02:33We also want to point out that if you're not at that point, which I'm not right now,
02:38you're not able to adopt.
02:39There are many other ways to give.
02:41Sure.
02:41You know, we really would welcome anyone to come in and volunteer with us, foster for us.
02:47These two would be great as fosters if you just want a short-term commitment for now
02:51to let them be in a home instead of a kennel.
02:53You know, they've been in a home for so long.
02:55To get them out of the shelter, that would be great.
02:58And donations go a long way.
03:00You know, we are our own nonprofit.
03:01We're our own organization.
03:03And we really do rely on those donations from the public to help us support this work, this life-saving work.
03:09You know, when somebody adopts, you know, Blue and Spot, right now their immunizations,
03:15all of that is all up to date, taken care of right now.
03:18Sure.
03:19Yeah.
03:19I mean, every animal that gets adopted at the Brandywine Valley SPCA is microchipped, spayed, and neutered,
03:25and has their current vaccines.
03:27So they're ready to go home that same day.
03:29That's such a savings for the folks that are adopting.
03:33And then we have animal health centers.
03:34So you're welcome to come back to us and have us be your primary vet source for your pets.
03:39Do you have any update for us on Piazza Pets of the last month as far as the adoptions?
03:45Sure.
03:45You know, we were so grateful to come out and do our live broadcast with you.
03:49And all of the pets, except Sapphire, Sapphire is still looking for a new home.
03:55And he's still at our Westchester shelter, but the rest of them were all adopted.
03:59And then when you came out to our shelter in Newcastle, I think that all of the animals
04:04that you met there have been adopted.
04:06So, you know, we're doing a good job.
04:09I would love to see Sapphire get a home and Blue and Spot.
04:12You know, all of those animals rescued from Texas, you know, some of them are still waiting
04:16for homes, but most of them are in their forever homes now too.
04:20That's beautiful.
04:21So here's the deal.
04:22You can go to 1210 WPHT to our Piazza Pet page.
04:28If you're interested in knowing more about what we're doing, thanks to Piazza Auto Group,
04:33we really have to thank them.
04:34And thank you at the Brandywine Valley SPCA because you do so much.
04:40We're so grateful.
04:41I mean, you know, this is a great way for them to be featured and to get them out into
04:45the community.
04:45So thank you so much.
04:47And thanks for watching.
04:48We'll be back for next month's edition.
04:50For now, this is Piazza Pet of the Month.
04:54I'll be back for now.
