00:00Well, Dundee United have had more rebuilding to do over the summer and this shapes up as a really
00:05tough test for them. Injuries playing a part as well and as we've been saying until last week
00:13Dundee United hadn't won a European tie in 28 years. Now they look to make it two on the bounce
00:20against the team which has a much more recent experience of making inroads to the European
00:28competitions. Rapid Vienna last season quarter-finalists in this Europa Conference League
00:38twice in the European group stages over the last five years and if you go even further back
00:4411 times they've played group stage football in the last couple of decades so there's a real contrast
00:53between these two teams in terms of recent European experience.
01:02The West Stadion, the Allianz Stadium and right about a thousand Dundee United fans
01:11have made it to Vienna for this one.
01:25And just the one change between the two teams in terms of how they lined up on Sunday.
01:32So this is the Rapid team which beat Blau, Weiss, Lindt and Vienna on Sunday in their first league game
01:51of the season. Norwegian under-21 striker Petr Nozadaal scored the only goal.
01:57Swede Isaac Janssen was sold in the summer for seven million euros.
02:02They've spent three million of that on rebuilding their squad.
02:08Eight new arrivals in the course of the close season.
02:12For Peter Stöger's team which finished fifth last season in the Austrian Bundesliga.
02:19Will Ferry carrying the captain's armband and the exchange of pennants at the start.
02:33And of course Noel Ross Graham, the club captain, long-term injured.
02:38Portuguese officials tonight on-field referee Luis Gordino and VAR Andre Narciso.
02:47Just the one change for Dundee United.
02:57Happy to welcome back Will Ferry after injury to provide a bit more balance to their defensive shape.
03:04Ivan Dolceic, a scorer in the 2-0 draw at Falkirk on Sunday, drops out of the starting 11.
03:10And Stwayne, Graham and Trapanovsky are all long-term absentees.
03:18So that's what Jim Goodwin is having to contend with at the moment.
03:22Yevheny Kucherenko in goal for Dundee United.
03:27And it could be a big night for him and it might be a night on which the Tanadise team are looking for a big performance from their goalkeeper.
03:37An estimated 18,000 Rapid Vienna fans in the stadium.
03:47Niklas Hedl in goal for them, capped once by the Austrian national team.
03:55And just about all set to go in the Austrian capital.
04:00Jim Goodwin said it himself, it's a night on which Dundee United will want some crucial pieces to fall into place for them to get the result they want.
04:18And what they want of course is to keep the tie alive, Billy Dodds, for Tanadise next week.
04:26Absolutely. I mean, it's a big test for some of these players and most of these players for United.
04:33But it's getting that balance right on attack already.
04:35But getting the balance right of being nice and solid, which they've probably not been in their first league game and against Strassen at times.
04:43And also being a threat as well.
04:45So being nice and solid while trying to hit in the counter attack and maybe even sneak a draw or even possibly a win.
04:53And getting them back to Tanadise is going to be a tough test against an experienced European side.
04:58In comes the Will Ferry long throw.
05:00And it was just an early opportunity in the opening minute to ask the question of Rapid Vienna.
05:11And Peter Stoogger certainly going for continuity.
05:21You expect a tripping and changing in the opening weeks of the season.
05:27But he's gone for the team which won here at the weekend.
05:33And United will certainly have marked down Petr Nosadal as a danger man for them.
05:49Tends to start out wide and then get into the middle and link up with Ontiste.
05:56Radulovic is another player who's looked a dangerous customer for them in the first few games of the season.
06:11Four wins out of four for them.
06:13And it's so important that Dundee United settle very quickly to the task tonight.
06:21They're organised, they're disciplined and they've listened to everything that Jim Goodwin's had to say to them.
06:28Yeah, listen to your manager but it's also so important that you carry it out on the pitch.

25:38an instant impact from Dolceik off the bench and the only disappointment as Billy says was that
25:48there was nobody gambling into the six-yard box going in at that far post for what would it be
25:55to tap in headed away by Ferry and the shot dragged well wide
26:16it was Andrea Radulovic who's pretty capable
26:20on that left foot but not that time no threat at all to Kucharenko it wasn't the best defensive
26:28header from Ferry just going to get it wide and height and distance get it away from goal but
26:36just knocked it right to Radulovic but he dragged the shot no real threat to United goal so far even
26:43though they've had long spells of possession which you would expect well the big diagonal not working
26:49there but the idea was good and Chauvet wasn't too far away from getting on the end of it

38:35himself in the box and I'll tell you even though he was wide left he's still got at his man

54:47I would have liked him to been a bit more brave at the start not give away cheap possession but
54:52I'll tell you what they settled into it they look defensively quite solid until they lost the goal and
54:57then they get a real boost by getting the equaliser a brilliant goal it was as well you think a little bit of
55:05confidence and then they lose that one just before half time so yeah it could have been a bit more
55:09solid but certainly still in the tie so a 2-1 deficit to try to turn around in the second half
55:17Max waters having scored that equaliser which had a thousand Dundee United fans dancing with delight
