00:00Welcome to Miss Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most entertaining television
00:09series that will take you back to the 90s.
00:1710. Everything Sucks
00:20In the small town of Boring, Oregon, where nothing happens, a group of teens grapple with growing
00:34pains. Everything Sucks follows students at Boring High School in 1996 who find community
00:40and belonging in the avian drama clubs.
00:42Thanks. So, do you want to sit together? Doesn't that go without saying? Of course. Yeah, totally.
00:53I just didn't know if you wanted to sit with me or sit alone, because so do you.
01:00I want to sit with you. Cheers.
01:03They're not the popular kids, and that's what makes them interesting, obviously. As they come
01:08of age together, friendships are built, romances bloom, hearts are broken and healed, while
01:13our characters discover themselves.
01:15I was thinking about what you said the night we went to see Tori Amos.
01:19Oh, I think we both said some things I'd rather forget.
01:24I mean, about your dad. You said you wished you knew him better?
01:30The show hits us with relatable nostalgia at every turn, and that's 70% of why it's so
01:36enjoyable. The rest of its likability comes from the cast, which includes Jayhi Diallo
01:40Winston, Peyton Kennedy, and Sidney Sweeney. So if you're looking for an easy breezy watch,
01:46try this.
01:47Oh, sweet! Ace in peace!
01:50What?
01:56No.
01:57Number 9. Dope Stick
01:59I'm not feeling too great.
02:02Are you sure there's not something going on? Because you're acting really strange.
02:06No. No, Grace. Nothing's going on. I just...
02:09I'm not feeling great, alright?
02:11Danny Strong's gripping miniseries sheds light on the opioid crisis that took root during the
02:1690s in the U.S., and the role Big Pharma played in the devastation it caused. It is based on Beth
02:22Macy's account of the emergency in her book of the same name, and stars Michael Keaton in the lead
02:27role.
02:28You know, this whole idea of dating again, I mean, I feel even odd just saying dating, but
02:41I don't know.
02:43He plays Samuel Finnex, a doctor who puts his patients on OxyContin, unaware of the dependency
02:50the painkiller can cause. It was deceptively marketed by Purdue Pharma, and reportedly triggered
02:55the opioid epidemic, claiming countless lives.
02:58Sales are increasing at such a fast rate. Wouldn't this be a good time to start distributing larger
03:03profits to A-shares and B-shares?
03:06Ah, yes. Greedy little piggies want their money right away. And since you've sat on your
03:11ass and done nothing to make any of this happen, I completely understand why you feel so entitled
03:15to it.
03:15That is an outrageous accusation.
03:18Jobstick holds personal significance for Keaton, who lost his nephew to opioid use. So his
03:23masterful and brave performance, which won him several awards, is even more commendable.
03:28I'm lucky I'm alive.
03:32I, um, I promise, when I first came to you, I didn't know they were addictive. You know,
03:43I really believed what they were telling me.
03:45And of course you did.
03:47Number eight, City on a Hill.
03:49I need to get the jurors to see what we see so they can start asking questions on their
03:53own. Let them connect Kinnicky to the heist and reveal.
03:55All right, well, so much for me helping you then.
03:57Is that what this is?
03:59Well, I'm out of practice at being nice.
04:01The 90s weren't all Janko jeans and frosted tips. If you were in Boston, it meant rampant
04:07corruption, discrimination, and crime. City on a Hill tackles this aspect with sharp detail
04:13and gripping tension. Enter Aldous Hodge as DeCoursey Ward, a district attorney with an
04:18upright sense of justice.
04:20Are you aware that witness intimidation is a time-honored Charlestown tactic to make problems
04:26and often people disappear? Intimidation only works if the violence is real.
04:35And Kevin Bacon's Jackie Rohr, who's used to bending the law thanks to his FBI days.
04:40Oh, so now my help is good enough for you.
04:42They form an unlikely alliance determined to change Boston for good. Under Ben Affleck and
04:48Matt Damon's executive production, the show is extremely well made with tight pacing.
04:54Most importantly, though, it has characters who feel real and are worth getting attached
04:58to, even if they aren't beacons of righteousness. That alone makes it worth watching.
05:04Hey, hey, hang on. I'm dropping it.
05:09Junior, you're gonna die a hero.
05:12Number 7, My So-Called Life.
05:15No one's gonna get shot, I promise you.
05:20Who would write a note like that?
05:22Everybody writes notes like that.
05:24We write notes like that.
05:25Yeah, but we write notes that are true.
05:27This isn't true?
05:29Ram!
05:30Yes, we know.
05:31Putting an actual 90s show on this list may have been cheating.
05:35But we just can't skip My So-Called Life when talking about the shows that are literal
05:39time travel machines.
05:41Rather than riding the nostalgia, this series is an authentic representation of how 90s kids
05:46grew up.
05:47When I was 12, my mother gave me my sex talk.
05:51I'm not sure either of us has fully recovered.
05:53Now that you and Jordan are, um...
05:56Oh my god.
05:57Mom, please.
05:58Angela, I can accept that you have a boyfriend.
06:01I don't have a boyfriend.
06:03Claire Danes plays our heroine, Angela Chase, who is incredibly easy to root for as she navigates
06:09the complexities of youth.
06:10The show doesn't hesitate to address the good, the bad, and the ugly of it all.
06:15So you get adorable puppy love on the one hand, and more serious issues like substance use
06:20and violence on the other.
06:21People don't just do that.
06:24Do they?
06:27Enrique?
06:33Enrique?
06:34It's a full package, not a fantasy.
06:39And that's what sets it apart.
06:41There's something about Sunday night that really makes you want to kill yourself.
06:47Especially if you've just been totally made a fool of by the only person you'll ever love.
06:52And you have a geometry midterm on Monday, which you still haven't studied for.
06:58Because you can't.
06:59Because Brian Krakow has your textbook.
07:01Adapted from celebrity chef Eddie Huang's memoir of the same name, FOTB was a cultural reset.
07:21With a family of Taiwanese Americans front and center, the show is equal parts hilarious
07:26and heartwarming.
07:31It follows the Huangs as they chase the American dream in the 90s, learning as they go.
07:39Louis Huang is ambitious and open-minded, whereas his wife Jessica wants to hold on to her roots.
07:45Eddie, you didn't tell me your girlfriend was Chinese.
07:50I almost lost my balance from joy.
07:54Their eldest son Eddie is a hip-hop-loving problem child.
07:57Emery, their second, is charming, while the youngest Evan is the so-called ideal offspring.
08:03Whoa there, Mommy! You're walking like a baby deer!
08:06Each character presents a unique perspective on the immigrant experience,
08:10offering viewers a nuanced portrayal of the time and place.
08:13If you haven't jumped on the bandwagon yet, you're missing out on a potential comfort show.
08:18My dad for giving me the confidence to come out of my shell.
08:22My grandma,
08:24And my little brother Evan for teaching me that class comes in all sizes.
08:35Number 5. Yellow Jackets
08:37You want some fruit by the foot? I've got like a mile of it.
08:40How far is too far when you're trying to survive?
08:44Yellow Jackets answers that question, and boy, does that answer have teeth.
08:49Hello?
08:52Misty! Oh my gosh! Hi!
08:55What do you want, Becky?
08:57The story takes place in 1996, where a plane crash leaves an all-girls high school soccer team stranded in the wild.
09:03Desperate times call for desperate measures, and suddenly, cannibalism doesn't sound as evil as it should to our survivors.
09:10They are eventually rescued, but their minds remain haunted by the heinousness of their acts, even after decades have passed.
09:17Now, the past is catching up to them, and they have nowhere to run.
09:21Every time that you try to save someone, a lot of bad sh** happens, and look at you now, 25 years later, and the same sh**'s happening again,
09:30only this time, you're wearing a Rolex, and you have all the broken toys around here who think you walk on water.
09:38Inspired by a real story, Yellow Jackets is Lord of the Flies, but yassified, and we love to see it.
09:45Put it out, see all the friends, see the sights, feel alright.
09:53Number 4. My Mad Fat Diary
09:56Dear Diary, I'm 16, I weigh 16 and a half stone, and I live in Lincolnshire.
10:04My interests include music, bedging out and finding a fit boy. Don't scratch that.
10:09We're going all the way to England for this one.
10:12Sharon Rooney plays Ray, a teenager struggling with her mental health while hiding it from her seemingly perfect friend Chloe, played by Jodie Comer.
10:21For months, Chloe thought Ray had been living in France when she was actually at a treatment facility for attempting to take her own life.
10:28It's a present. Say sorry. I was a mess when you came around to mine.
10:34Ray doesn't plan on opening up about this or her insecurities regarding her body to anyone except for her diary.
10:40However, that gets exceedingly hard as she starts to form genuine relationships with people.
10:46My Mad Fat Diary is proof that adolescence is always messy, whether that be in the 90s or the year 3000.
10:53How was it that Chloe had a dad who treated her like she wasn't still in nappies?
11:00And all I had was...
11:02Who's this this bike?
11:04But what matters is the friends you make along the way.
11:07Oh my god! It's going to explode!
11:10Press a little lighter, slowly.
11:12There you go, you're off.
11:15Number 3. High School
11:17I'm Maya.
11:19Tegan.
11:20What is this, a business meeting?
11:23Oh...
11:23Sisters.
11:25Can't live with them?
11:26Can't live without them, right?
11:27In high school, we're granted a glimpse into the early years of twins and real-life pop stars Tegan and Sarah Quinn.
11:33The screenplay is based on the duo's memoir with the same simple yet loaded title.
11:38Set in Calgary during the grunge era, the show explores the ups and downs of young adulthood
11:43as the Quinns navigate loneliness, queer identity, and growth.
11:47Hey.
11:47What's up?
11:48Hi.
11:49You know, when I first saw your eye, I thought it was kind of disgusting, but...
11:52No, it's not so bad.
11:53Thanks.
11:54Alright, see you guys at the party.
11:56See you guys.
11:56Bye.
11:58Was she talking about the rancid party?
11:59Yeah. You want to go?
12:01Sure.
12:02In their soul-searching journeys, they drift apart and find their way back to each other,
12:06like a universal representation of sisterhood tugging at our heartstrings.
12:11Amid the chaos of it all, their shared passion for music bursts forth.
12:15I can't believe we get to see Green Day in 43 days.
12:18I know. I'm so excited. I can't wait.
12:21Yeah, me too.
12:22Hey, did Evan and Lily ever show up?
12:24No.
12:24What's going on with them? They were acting so aggro today.
12:28Probably nothing.
12:29With a 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating, this show is a must-watch.
12:33I still can't believe you're not coming to Green Day with me.
12:36Yeah, they're just not my thing.
12:38Number 2. Pose.
12:40Giving us Ralph Lauren in Tale.
12:45Little Tale ain't never hurt nobody, baby.
12:48Judges are four, three, eight, seven, eight, six, and seven.
12:53This show welcomes you into the world of New York's ballroom scene in the late 80s through the 90s.
12:58Fabulous and fierce on the one hand, endearing and heartbreaking on the other,
13:02Pose dives into the vibrant lives of queer and trans individuals of color.
13:06There is $2,300 here.
13:10A Christmas miracle.
13:12Thank you, Jesus.
13:13We can get three trees now.
13:15Trees? Girl, we can get wigs.
13:17The humankind.
13:18Girl, we can go to the spa.
13:19Oh my God, and get a massage.
13:20I've met a massage.
13:21Knocked down by society, but united by ballroom,
13:24our characters experience the joys of chosen families while loving and expressing themselves.
13:30I'm going to be styling and profiling.
13:36Look inside.
13:42I'm going to use some socks for them feet.
13:44The cast includes beloved transgender actresses like Michaela J. Rodriguez and Dominique Jackson,
13:51as well as legendary queer icon Billy Porter.
13:54With such great talents, Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk weave a resilient narrative that leaves
13:59a deep impression.
14:01Your uniform of ill-fitting J. Crew coulots, fake pearls, and 50-cent crunchies cannot conceal
14:06the fact that you do not know who you are.
14:08I know our presence threatens you.
14:11We fought for our place at this table, and that has made us stronger than you will ever be.
14:16Just make sure to keep the tissues ready because you're going to need them.
14:20You know how many boyfriends I've seen go in there over the last four years.
14:27How are we supposed to get invested in someone if they can be gone a week later?
14:34Before we continue, be sure to subscribe to our channel and ring the bell to get notified

14:40You have the option to be notified for occasional videos or all of them.

14:48Who would have thought that a group of wee little ladies from Northern Ireland would win hearts
15:11worldwide?
15:23In Derry Girls, we follow Erin, Orla, Claire, and Michelle, who are far from the Catholic
15:29school good girls they're expected to be.
15:31Joined by Michelle's cousin James from London, they grow up in Derry, while the troubles come
15:36to a close in the 90s.
15:37This is disgraceful.
15:39I should have access to a laboratory.
15:41What about my civil rights?
15:43Corner.
15:45Their chaotic adolescent experiences, soaked in reckless abandon, resonate with viewers
15:50everywhere.
15:51The comedy is dark and delightful, but the show doesn't come without its fair share of
15:56emotional devastation.
15:57The acting is top-notch, as you'd expect from a cast that includes Cheersha, Monica Jackson,
16:02and Nicola Coughlin, and the characters feel like people you know.
16:06Would you stop doing that, please?
16:08I can't let my heart rate drop, I'm afraid, Erin.
16:10Let's just run through some of our favorite ideas.
16:13So, firstly, animals.
16:15Animals?
16:16Can someone elaborate?
16:18Yeah.
16:18So, this concept would focus on animals, alongside pictures of famous people who look a bit like
16:26animals?
16:26There's no way you won't fall in love.
16:28Do not start on the script again.
16:31The script is a masterpiece.
16:33The script is born in.
16:35Doesn't make any sense.
16:35What's it even about?
16:36Peace.
16:37If you could live in the world of any of these TV shows, which one would it be?
16:41Tell us in the comments down below.
16:43The New York Times.
16:44There's an amazing letter to the editor about Dharma and Greg in this TV guide.
