Wait... How far is Joe Milton throwing the football?! Did Patriots trade him so soon? Do you agree with Scheim?

00:00shine some abuse heading your way on the subaru of new england text line this morning i know you
00:06wanted to address that yeah it's the dumbest thing i can possibly read today uh it's probably
00:12ken layered from some burners but here we go 860 text milton would have beat may out when may
00:19sucks and milton's a top five quarterback in the league shine will be exposed as a fraud
00:25401 text milton is so much better than drake may and shine cannot see it it's also funny that he
00:34mentions when drake may has a good day at training camp but then uh when he has a bad day he just
00:38says oh it's just training camp not the case but okay i mean the man did throw the longest pass in
00:45nfl history right great good 75 yards he's got an absolute cannon greg it's it's interesting the nfl
00:53tells you when when trades happen the nfl tells you exactly exactly how valuable a commodity is
00:59joe milton was traded for a fifth round pick which is the equivalent which is actually less
01:05than what the eagles got for kenny pickett who stinks well the patriots got randy moss for a fourth
01:12round pick and he had the best season in the history of the sport yeah but when he was coming
01:15from the raiders he was not having success with oakland but you can't just say that what you're
01:20traded for is your actual value i mean there's mitigating circumstances i i listen i mean at
01:24the time you're traded yes that was the value like that's what the league believed the value was
01:28yeah but that what curtis is saying is you can't predict the future just based off that like if he
01:33gets a chance down in texas then who knows joe milton could end up being pretty good he's not going
01:37to get a chance but i'm telling you right now the rest of the nfl doesn't view him as a starting
01:42quarterback in the nfl like not even close he'll get a chance because if if you know
01:47guys get nicked up and if that prescott misses a game then you'll get to see what joe milton is
01:53i bet we see him well i agree i think there's a chance you might see the texters are going off of
02:00the opportunity that they got to see last season with joe milton which he won a football game that
02:05the buffalo bills wanted to lose but but doesn't the return really make ken's point that like what
02:11was the rush then like if you're not getting vrabel didn't want him in the building right i know
02:16the i get that what i'm in the middle of saying is that if the organization wants competition
02:21vrabel's main gig at the patriots was creating a culture with wiggie and willie mcginnis and all
02:28these guys that brought in a massive amount of in-house competition so that no game was too big
02:35why are you precluding a guy from competing against someone that you know is much better
02:40well maybe vrabel doesn't care about the competition curtis like that's an issue right
02:45no is it no it's not on any other nfl team yeah you don't want how did jimmy g hurt tom brady yeah
02:51but that was at the end of brady like brady at that point was what 38 years old brady also wanted
02:56him up and out of here right and they didn't and it made brady better no but brady they never brought
03:01anybody into bill eventually was forced to trade him right right well brady's also a completely
03:07different specimen than every other quarterback if we're going to be fully transparent bill wanted
03:11jimmy g to replace tom before he was 40 which would have been the dumbest decision in the history of
03:15the sport right but they never they never brought anybody in to compete with brady early in his career
03:20like drake may a similar situation when did they bring somebody in to compete with brady in 06
03:25castle no that castle's under kevin o'connell no zach robinson well they brought in rodney
03:30harrison and mike rabel who no no but competed their ass off against him
03:34no i'm talking about the position okay then why didn't they bring in better or even more
03:39defensive players to compete against drake may curtis like that's that's fine they went nuts
03:43into free agency okay so they did bring in people to compete with drake may but you said they they got
03:47rid of the guy who would compete with drake may right they the quarterback room is too you're talking
03:52about two different positions what are you in the court the two different positions they had never brought
03:56in they did not bring in a quarterback to compete with brady early in his career once he became the
04:04starter and he started having the reporting is around drake may and the need to immediately get
04:09rid of joe milton was that joe milton thought he had a chance to compete for the job right and that
04:15drake may's leadership was being stifled right right which is which is you want to get rid of a guy
04:20who feels like he should be starting when you drafted a guy number is saying that everybody on that team
04:28traditionally you would want them to feel like they should be but that's not true like you want
04:33that in a brian hoyer never thought for a day he was going to start behind tom brady that's not true
04:39but didn't he approach his work like he thought he should be no he he prepared like okay i might be a
04:46starter but they never brought in a guy that to compete with tom right and that you just don't do
04:54that because what you're doing is creating a problem in the locker room if there hadn't been
05:00a guy there i i will i will join curtis curtis's side in this argument for a minute if there hadn't
05:06been a guy there to compete with drew bledsoe you may have never discovered tom brady but tom brady
05:13wasn't brought in to compete with drew bledsoe tom brady was was drafted milton wasn't brought in to
05:19compete with drake may right but if you listen to ordway and the belichick rump swabs out there they'll
05:23say brady beat him out in training camp right they were ready to make the move like but that's
05:28the difference though tom brady before he could have competition was already a super bowl champion
05:33it's different drake may has won one football game in the nfl right but they but the the thing is
05:40entering 2002 tom brady was the super bowl champion and then in 2002 he led the nfl in touchdown passes
05:45right right we know that so it's drake may as i just said won a game as a player yeah but drake may
05:51was the third overall pick and then the guy that you drafted same year as a six-round draft pick
05:57if he's saying he feels like he's better than your third overall pick you have a problem you can't
06:04because your third overall pick is only one year in you can't have a guy in there who's going around
06:11saying i'm better than this guy when well it'll be seen by everyone if he is right i mean he's
06:18clearly not according to you guys so no no because the problem is he might throw the ball to more guys
06:25and they might build a relationship with him and those guys might be like oh you're better than drake
06:29may you think it's close drake may versus joe milton wiggie no it's not even close no so then if
06:34you're a receiver on that team why do you want a bad quarterback but if you feel like you have a
06:38connection with him who's not good at his job but i'm not saying he's not good at his job they're not
06:43even close no there's a difference between being not close as a talent and not good at your job right
06:48so if if joe milton is the third string quarterback and he's throwing passes and i'm pop douglas and i'm
06:56catching balls and we built this relationship with each other he might say hey you know what you are
07:03better than drake may because he's got this relationship with him all right but if they're not
07:07close to being as good i don't understand that the problem is you create a problem in the locker
07:14room when guys view joe milton as oh i have a better relationship when i have a better chance of
07:21getting more passes yes you've been in locker rooms so i will i will take your word on that yeah it
07:27just becomes an issue you know can you give me an example of a quarterback that sucked that players
07:31wanted to play for over the guy that was good but we're not saying i'm not saying joe milton sucks
07:37though wait but so i don't understand i mean some people said that you can't judge that based off
07:42shyma's right one game in which uh buffalo had their scrum no no no no look at joe milton's entire
07:49history his body of work from college to the pros he's not that good i'm not saying joe milton sucks
07:54because i don't know we haven't seen him play i know when i was there with brady in 2000 brady was
07:59the fourth quarterback on the depth shot but i would have a good relationship with him when we
08:04would run scout team so you could lean towards a guy and go hey tom you know what you might be better
08:10than those other guys in front of you yeah all right well 75 yarder from joe milton yesterday
08:18little milton magic in dallas hey
