00:00Nothing beats the roar of these engines.
00:10Welcome to Malaysia GTR Festival 2025.
00:18On August 2nd, GTR owners from across Malaysia rolled into the Gamuda Cove Experience Gallery
00:25in Dengkil to celebrate Japan's most iconic supercar.
00:30Back for its second consecutive year, the GTR Festival was first held in Penang.
00:36The event is also a precursor to the Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur 2025, which kicks off on August 8th.
00:46It was a rare sight.
00:48Over 70 GTRs gathered in one place, a lineup spanning from the earliest models to the present-day ones.
00:57The Hakusuka.
00:58The first-generation Nissan Skyline GTR produced in 1969.
01:06The Skyline R32 GTR.
01:10Famously nicknamed Godzilla.
01:12Followed by the equally iconic R33 and R34 models.
01:21Stealing the spotlight, however, was none other than automotive legend Hiroshi Tamura, globally hailed as the father of the modern GTR.
01:43The 63-year-old couldn't contain his excitement at seeing his baby.
01:49FMT Lifestyle had the opportunity to speak with Tamura himself about his legacy.
01:56When I was 10 years old, I saw the Hakusuka Skyline GTR.
02:05That was so big imprint for me.
02:09I thought, someday, I want to be in Nissan.
02:11I want to create the Skyline GTR.
02:14That's my first impression or first imprinting of the story of Nissan.
02:19Tamura began his career at Nissan in 1984.
02:24He was in his early 20s then, working across various departments before being promoted to the product development team during the R33 era.
02:33Sometimes, people, the dream is dream.
02:38Job is job, like a separation, but I could not separate.
02:43That's why, please give me a chance to create the Skyline or GTR.
02:51Then, dream comes true.
02:54That was 1997.
02:57Over the years, Tamura has had a hand in cars like the R33 and R34 Skyline GTRs, the R35 GTR, 370Z Nismo, and now the new Z.
03:10And his pride for the GTR remains strong.
03:14The GTR competitor, yes, it was GT.
03:19At the festival, Tamura mingled with fans, signed autographs, and posed for photos with car owners.
03:31He also personally chose three cars to receive awards.
03:36Best Design, Best Tuning, and Tamura's choice of GTR.
03:41And that's a wrap for Malaysia GTR Festival 2025.
03:49See you next at Tokyo Auto Salon KL happening at Mitex from 8th to 10th August.
03:54Bye!
