00:00There's nothing like like rocking out. You can dance and do pop all you want. We got this.
00:08There's nothing like a good head thrash.
00:11We're actually not a fictional band anymore because two of us actually became a real band.
00:16Yeah, so exciting. So it is real. That wasn't in the original script. Originally Anna was not
00:22thinking about Pink Slip in the beginning. She was just writing some stuff down. We shot that in
00:27reshoots. To do a movie and to be in a band. Because we got to like actually rehearse the
00:40way a band would rehearse. I remember we went to this place in North Hollywood that was like this
00:44big studio where bands would rehearse. And I always walked by there. For me it was cool to like oh
00:49I'm now going to be like one of the bands rehearsing in there. So we got to like feel what it would be
00:54like to really be in a band and that was cool for me because I've never done that before.
00:57This time it came a little bit easier because it was like a reunion for us first. And then it was
01:02like okay let's do it. Yep. Like it felt like it was just like it was yesterday. Like it felt
01:06very comfortable. It did. It's sort of I was going to say like it's almost like no time passed. When
01:11we first saw each other it was just kind of like oh man I feel like we just did this. Yeah. But it
01:16was definitely not just. But it felt like that. I think there's a natural chemistry too with us like
01:21performing and just like being friends. We always got along on set. We always like you know. So it was just like
01:26like she said it was just already there. And when I went into the studio to record the song
01:31I didn't realize how much that song was in me. Like I just immediately like remembered everything.
01:37And it just took me back.
01:42Being able to do that now as like a mom. Oh my gosh. Well no I mean I had to. It's like a release.
01:47Well to answer your question I had to get a lot of rest. To prepare myself to do it again. Because
01:51I was much more tired this time. Pink Slip first came out in 2003. It was like that era of Avril Lavigne and
01:58angsty kind of rock music. And people really latched on to that. And everyone that saw the film then
02:05that generation has grown up with us. So we're all kind of in it together. It followed with us.
02:10Yes. Yes. And what shocked me because I think we actually did talk about like are we still cool?
02:18I really felt that way. But like I just feel like Lindsay and Hailey are just effortlessly cool.
02:23I mean honestly like you guys just really just are. Whereas I felt like I had to like figure out
02:30how to be like. Like I'm in a robe all day with a top bun. You know what I mean? So I'm like okay now
02:35how do I like get into this like you know am I going to look like an old lady? But like Lindsay said
02:40the fan base is so loyal. It's so loyal. Right. It's just it's so built in. And I was surprised that there
02:47were some 13 year olds. Like 13, 14, 15 year olds that were like we're so excited to see you in the new
02:53movie. I'm like me. I'm so whole. You're excited to see me. So I think the band itself just has its
03:00own thing that that stuck. And a lot of bands were inspired by Pink Slope as well. Yes. Yeah.
03:05That was really cool to see the the covers and that people made and stuff. Yeah. Those two made sense
03:12to me because I was also making more music like that at the time. I think now because I also have
03:16the song Baby and I'm a mom. It almost still felt like I was really Anna because I have a kid now.
03:23So that also hit home. When I was singing it I started crying because I was thinking about my
03:28son being a teenager. It was making me like oh my god. I can't even think about that. To keep it
03:33current and relevant in the way that music is today we had to change it up a little bit. Also Pink Slope
03:38has evolved and changed a bit so they would want to do a new newer fresher version. And I love that the
03:44newer song is about Anna and her daughter. I love that it ties that really new important
03:51storyline and character into the old. Like that was such a great idea to sort of join those two.
04:02It also is kind of like Anna's accepting to acknowledge what her mom went through with her
04:07in that song as well. It's like multi-generational. Oh that's right. I didn't even think about that.
04:12The lyrics are real and they're really raw. Like they stick they hit home. Um and the words are
04:17relatable and take me away. Like I don't want to grow up. I don't want to I want to get out. Like
04:23take me away. Take me out of this. I want to keep my inner child. I want to stay young and free.
04:33We're just really focusing on our music and they actually used one of our songs
04:37in a scene in the movie. So we're really excited about that.
04:44I kind of wish we were a real band. I'm like can we go on tour now?
04:47Lucy please. Can we go on tour?
04:49Oh my god. You guys come and play with us.
04:51Emily can we go on tour?
04:55I'm honestly so grateful to this film, to everyone involved, to everyone who pushed for the band to
04:59come back. Because I feel like it's reawakened something in me that always loved to perform.
05:06Always loved to sing. Always loved music.
05:14There was a whole list. Yeah there was a bunch that Mark Waters had. But we liked Pink Slip.
05:19No clue. I had no clue there was another name. Could you imagine any other name?
05:23I couldn't. Yeah. We used to be so cool. Hey I'm still cool. I look amazing.
