00:25her daughter Daisy, and how she's bringing us
00:28to her planet on the Lifetimes World Tour.

00:39So tell me how good you feel
00:40that you're gonna get to see everybody all across the globe.
00:43It'll be the first time I've seen everyone in this way,
00:48you know, for almost seven and a half, eight years.
00:50So they say that, you know, it only takes seven years
00:53for all of your cells to rejuvenate.
00:55So I'm, biologically, I'm a whole different human.
00:59So it's a brand new Katy.
01:01It's a new human.
01:02It's a brand new me.
01:04That's amazing.
01:05I'm very excited.
01:06And then, I mean, you've always had iconic looks.
01:08That's a part of your whole thing.
01:10And, like, every tour has this personality
01:12that people get excited to come see,
01:14especially the Vegas show.
01:15The photo's a bit wide.
01:16I mean, me in a toilet with a poop.
01:19So what's your favorite part of planning this,
01:21and how do you make them feel so different?
01:23I feel like I have created completely different worlds
01:27with every single tour that I've ever done,
01:29even from the very beginning,
01:31when I, you know, didn't have a lot of resources,
01:35I still created a world.
01:37And the worlds have just gotten bigger and bigger,
01:40and they're very experiential.
01:42I mean, I remember one of my first tours,
01:44the California Dreams Tour,
01:46we were, like, injecting the smell of cotton candy
01:50into the arenas before the audience is loaded in.
01:53It was, it's just like, we want people to really feel it.
01:56We want to set the scene.
01:58And for the Lifetimes Tour specifically,
02:01this one is more sci-fi than ever,
02:04but it is like, it's almost a little bit
02:08like a sci-fi hopeful video game,
02:11and about to do some intense choreography,
02:16some flying, like I did on the VMAs.
02:19And then also, the actual stage of this show
02:22is really interesting in that it's a figure eight,
02:28it's an infinity symbol.
02:29And so there's two pits, they can be all around.
02:32There's, like, a special place called Club 143
02:35that has a bar in it, which is really fun.
02:38And it's a dance party.
02:40I absolutely have to be in Club 143.
02:42That's, no negotiables there.
02:44It's a spacious club with adult beverages.
02:48So yeah.
02:48You gotta be there.
02:50And I mean, you had some really big performances
02:52leading up to this tour.
02:53The AFL, oh my God, that was amazing.
02:56And then of course, Rio was, like, top 10 there.
02:59So when you've had these, like,
03:00big performances before the tour,
03:01is that the kind of space you're wanting to create?

03:11I think for set list wise, it's gonna have,
03:14I think it's probably gonna be 70%
03:17all the songs that everybody knows,
03:19that everybody wants to sing.
03:20I feel complete responsibility to the audience
03:23to sing those songs, to have the sing-along,
03:26to give, you know, people that have been with me
03:29for a lifetime those songs.
03:32But yeah, they're gonna be punched up.
03:33They're gonna have a little bit more of a beat to them.
03:36And then I get to play a few songs from 143
03:39or medleys of sorts,
03:41but everything is going to have the texture of,
03:45of, like, dance, you know?
03:47That's what the last record is a lot about.
03:50And I've actually been asking for set list requests online.
03:54And my fans like to troll me and I like to troll them.
03:58And they have been asking for the deepest cuts,
04:01which they think is LOL and never gonna come true,
04:04but there's a special part in the show that I change.
04:09Well, I guess I'm giving away too much,
04:12but there's a special part in the show
04:15that is specific for deep cuts for fans.
04:19It's a real choose your own adventure section
04:23and it's not always going to be the same.
04:26Well, you led me into the next thing I want to talk about,
04:28which was the set list.
04:29So I want you to say really quick, like when I say this,
04:31I just want to know like immediately
04:32what comes to your mind.
04:33So obviously you're a woman with a lot of hit songs.
04:36What's the one must that has to be on every tour?
04:41I mean, I do it.
04:42Every tour, Firework, Roar, Dark Horse,
04:46California Girls, Teenage Dream.
04:48I just kind of reinvent them a little bit, you know?
04:52So there's all that.
04:54But then, you know, a lot of people don't know me
04:56for some of my slower songs.
04:58They know Unconditionally or By the Grace of God.
05:00And with this little bonus section,
05:03I get to do some deep cuts
05:05that these fans have waited a lifetime for.
05:08And they're going to freak out
05:09and they're all going to be there
05:10screaming at the top of their lungs.
05:11I may have new teenagers there
05:14that have used Teenage Dream in their TikTok or whatever,
05:18and they want to come and see what it's all about.
05:20Or they've seen footage from past
05:22and they're like, let's go see this world.
05:24Because it's basically like
05:25a traveling Disneyland at this point.
05:27Oh, you're speaking music to my ears.
05:29Don't say the Disneyland word around me.
05:31I'll go on a whole different tangent.
05:33And now, and then what's the song
05:35that you'd never want to do again?
05:38Hmm, that I never want to do again?
05:44I don't, I play pretty much everything
05:46and I have played everything.
05:48They really want me to do Simple
05:49from the Sisterhood of the Traveling Hands.
05:54You're like, he likes that one?
05:55Yeah, that's a good one.
05:57That was like one of the first songs
05:58that ever came out for me.
06:00And it was such a time,
06:01what a time to be alive that was.
06:03But I'm probably won't be doing Simple, you know?
06:07Won't be doing any from like
06:09my first gospel record either,
06:11but maybe there will be some Easter eggs
06:14for what's to come in the future too.
06:17My only request is Wonder, just so you know.
06:19I need Wonder.
06:20Oh, Wonder, I know.
06:22Oh good, it's ear candy, it's perfect.

06:33Let's talk about being a mom.
06:34Is Daisy going to be with you out there on the road?
06:36How are you going to be a mom on tour this time?
06:38Well, this is going to be the first time
06:40that I'm going to try this on.
06:42And she starts kindergarten in September,
06:44which is crazy bones.
06:46I mean, people are like, wait, wasn't she just born?
06:48Yeah, time flies and kids are a timestamp.
06:52But she starts kindergarten.
06:53So before she starts kindergarten,
06:55she'll definitely be joining me for some dates
06:57and she loves it.
06:59And you know, I'll probably, she like,
07:01she wants to go on stage.
07:02I'm like, no baby.
07:04There's so much, there's so much, so many moving parts.
07:07There's so much choreography, so many changes.
07:09There's acts.
07:11And not only that, as a mom,
07:15I now know that maybe nine, 9.30 shows are too late.
07:20So I'm going to be, I'm going to be 8.30,
07:24which is really fun.
07:25And my show is going to be about an hour and a half or so.
07:27We'll definitely get Daisy there.
07:29Tell her to wait a little bit.
07:30We'll get her on her blue Ivy vibe.
07:33Oh my God.
07:35And then I do want to ask you one thing about just,
07:37cause I'm chronically online as a lot of us are.
07:40One thing that's interesting to me is that
07:41obviously Beyonce was on the Renaissance tour
07:43and Shakira went to see her tour.
07:45And everybody remembers Shakira posted like,
07:48I went and I took notes.
07:49And now Shakira's on tour
07:50and everybody's looking at Shakira's tour
07:51and they're like, oh, she did take notes.
07:53There's a lot of like inspiration there.
07:54So I wanted to ask you, is there a tour
07:56or one of the artists that have been like killing it lately
07:58that you saw their show and you were like,
08:00this is inspiring.
08:01I love what they're doing.
08:03I love seeing shows and I've seen a lot actually this year.
08:07Everyone is inspired by everyone.
08:10Like, you know, even when Abracadabra came out,
08:13I was like, yes, go girl.
08:15It just, when female pop stars, you know,
08:19when we all win and they all make us rise to that level,
08:23you know, of work and of giving.
08:27And so, you know, I think we've all,
08:31we've all seen each other's shows
08:33and we're all just kind of a smorgasbord of each other
08:36in some ways, but we all have a unique perspective.
08:40And, you know, some of the shows I've been to even,
08:43I've been like, oh, I did that in 2010 too.
08:47But it was just such a different time, you know,
08:50and the tech wasn't even available.
08:52The tech that's available now is phenomenal.
08:56And I like to push those limits.
08:58So we'll be using a lot of interesting, magical tech.
