00:00And of course, what today really is now is a day which marks the spot where she lost her life.
00:06And the only consolation is, of course, she's received a degree and we've had a plaque unveiled to her.
00:13So it's a day of mixed emotions.
00:14But one of the things that is fantastic is the support and love of everybody that's come out to support the family today.
00:22A memorial to 20-year-old Alia Mohammed was held at the King's College London campus on the 31st of July, a day that would have been her graduation.
00:36Alia died and three others were injured in the crash outside the university campus on the 18th of March.
00:45About 40 friends, family members and people from KCL gathered to pay tribute to the students.
00:54He was also honoured earlier on Thursday as a graduation ceremony in the Royal Festival Hall on London's South Bank.
01:06Many were dressed in green, her favourite colour, and stood with their eyes closed or heads bowed.
01:14Some were visibly emotional and hugged one another for support and a minute's silence was held.
01:25People took it in turns to walk up and look at the inscription in silence.
01:30And her mother, Samira Shafi, was given her honorary degree certificate, awarded posthumously.
01:38The family has also launched a campaign to build a high school in Malawi in honour of Alia, to be called Be More Alia.
01:49Well, she was of physics and philosophy, so similar degree.
01:55We met in first year, actually on the first day we're doing a tour here.
01:58Throughout first year we knew each other, weren't as close and then over the summer after first year and especially from October until her passing just came so close and our connection just grew and grew.
02:11I mean, me and her were so close because she was so interested in me, she cared so much about me and I'll never know why, but she was and she had an uncanny ability to cheer me up.
02:22You know, in the period that we were close, yeah, she just understood me and she was like that with other people.
