00:00A new day and another report into Queensland's beleaguered DNA lab.
00:07It has shone a light on the organisational problems and toxic culture which has plagued FSQ for years.
00:14Former FBI expert Bruce Bedaly reveals the workplace culture at Forensic Science Queensland appeared to the review team to be quite toxic.
00:23It again raised contamination issues and found evidence that concerns had been raised by scientific staff but had not been acted upon or rectified.
00:33Make no mistake, the report is damning.
00:36The team's overarching observation is that despite considerable effort over the past two and a half years, FSQ remains a laboratory in a state of sustained crisis.
00:47In Dr Kersey Wright's earlier report, she points out the former Labor government allocated almost $30 million for external DNA tests in late 2022 to help the lab.
00:58But the next year, two thirds of that money was redirected.
01:02Some of that money was repurposed and spent on building brand new offices for managers and staff and to buy expensive scientific equipment.
01:12Some of that money were offered to help the public confiance and staff.
01:15Some of that money was replaced by the public interest in general for public assistance.
01:16Some of that money were constrained by the public assistance.
01:17These are vähän and their own stakeholders for the public assistance.
01:18These are very few, especially, in the public assistance that they found on the public assistance.
01:20And the public assistance is designed by the public assistance.
