The Northern Territory has twelve times the national average rate of homelessness, but a new major funding boost could turn the tide on the growing crisis.

00:00$231 million for one of the Northern Territory's most disadvantaged populations.
00:09The reality is that one in 25 Territorians accessed a frontline homelessness service in the financial year 23-24.
00:18That's a lot of Territorians who are accessing homelessness services.
00:22The funding boosts a joint investment from the Federal and Territory Governments to roll out over the next four years.
00:28This funding has also expanded some of our other services like our Streets to Home Assertive Outreach.
00:33So that program used to be one staff and now that program is going to be four.
00:37The funding will also create a new intake service to help people experiencing homelessness.
00:42It's a one stop shop for people to access services and receive the support that they need.
00:4875 programs have received the funding including in remote Aboriginal communities.
00:52The best KPI would be that we haven't got anybody living in their cars or living on the streets
00:57but we know that's really not something that is likely to happen.
01:01So a reduction in people needing these services would be the best possible outcome.
