00:00So, Douglas Johnson, Chair of the Housing Committee on Sheffield Council, this is a brand new council house that we're in, isn't it?
00:08And it's a bit special, so can you tell me what you're feeling about today and what's special about this house?
00:14So it's really nice to see this new council house being opened up today.
00:19It's incredibly impressive. I haven't seen this before.
00:22This is a lovely house and I'm so pleased with a few tenants moving into it later this month.
00:27This is a new build, completely net zero home.
00:31It's good quality, it's light, it's spacious, it's warm, it's comfortable, it's safe.
00:37This is great. This is the thing we want to aspire to for our tenants.
00:41Our tenants deserve this.
00:43It's going to be used for accommodation, for people who might have been through an unsettled period of their lives.
00:49The whole scheme is going to have support from our council staff.
00:53And it's about giving some respite, a safe and secure home to people who really deserve something like this.
01:01We've got really good quality here. We've got a really nice new kitchen here.
01:05This is great.
01:07It's good to see modern fittings, modern appliances.
01:11You know, a really nice landlord here.
01:15You know, proper triple glazed patio doors.
01:18Plenty of light coming in.
01:19I love the light here. I love the high ceiling.
01:22And it's going to be a really nice place for people to feel that they are at home in.
01:27And so this is really important as well, because this is good for the council.
01:31This means that we show that we can produce completely new homes out of the council's housing stock that are net zero.
01:41This is really important. It shows the way it can be done.
01:44Now, it's been quite stressful to get these in between us.
01:47We've learnt a lot along the way.
01:49Yeah.
01:49But I hope that we can draw these out and have more of these across the city.
01:53And these are manufactured and then put together on site, aren't they?
01:57It's not sort of traditional bricks and mortar construction.
02:00It's not traditional at all, no.
02:01So this is a modular construction.
02:03That means that all the elements of this home are constructed in very clean conditions in a factory, brought to the site and assembled here.
02:13But this is good quality construction.
02:15And they're very, very solid.
02:18It's got the feeling of being very solid.
02:20So there's nothing loose or cheap about this.
02:24This is good quality stuff.
02:27And within this, we've found this is the standard of construction that you get.
02:33Factory produced and not built on site in wet and windy conditions.
02:37So that's really pleasing.
02:38This is very much housing for the future.
02:41Fantastic.
