00:00I mean, to be on this show is an honor,
00:02and I can't wait to go back to summer camp with you all on Monday.
00:04I'm excited.
00:05Did you just end the conversation?
00:07She did.
00:07She did.
00:09She kind of like...
00:11This is great.
00:12I'm going to put a bow on this.
00:25Welcome, the incredible cast of Ghosts to the Variety Studio.
00:29I know.
00:30I said incredible.
00:31Incredible.
00:31I landed on thick, trying to butter you guys up.
00:33We start high, we end low.
00:34Here we go.
00:36Thank you so much for joining us today.
00:39I know I am so excited.
00:41I will be at your panel in just a couple of hours.
00:43Oh, great.
00:44What can you tell me about what we're bringing to the panel?
00:46Are we maybe going to see some new footage or something?
00:49What are we talking about?
00:51We haven't started shooting yet.
00:53Yeah, you're going to see some new footage.
00:56Yeah, if you're seeing new stuff, we're seeing new stuff.
00:58Yeah, we start shooting on Monday.
00:59Monday's our first day back to work.
01:01Yeah, we're so excited.
01:02Oh, my God.
01:03So you guys are going straight from Comic-Con.
01:05Yes.
01:05Back to shooting.
01:06Yes, we fly out tomorrow.
01:08It's nuts.
01:09Yeah, we're back to...
01:11Yep, we're on a 4.45 a.m. pickup.
01:13Yes.
01:14We go to Montreal and we start shooting on Monday.
01:16Yeah, been learning lines in between press junkets.
01:19You're not learning lines.
01:20I am.
01:20Would you?
01:21Should we tell them that there is a 10-hour scene on Monday?
01:24Yeah, there is a 10-hour scene.
01:26There is a nearly 10-page scene on the first day of our...
01:30Yeah, but Kevin's not even going to be there.
01:31And I'm not on the scene!
01:33You know what?
01:33I know.
01:34I know.
01:35I'm just like, oh, I have to be at home for this scene?
01:37What is going on?
01:38Your time will come, Kevin.
01:39If you already know some of the lines, do you want to just tell me what they are?
01:42Do you know your lines?
01:43No, we've been working the lines.
01:46I know more about Love Island than I do my lines at this point, so I need to get cracking.
01:49Okay, I was going to save this for later in the interview, but let's go on ahead.
01:53We must.
01:53Talk to me about Love Island.
01:54First off, are you guys watching Love Island?
01:57No.
01:57We're about to learn.
01:58Okay, first of all, let's lock in.
02:00Okay, I'm ready.
02:01I'm ready.
02:01Amaya Papaya, thoughts?
02:03Shout out to her.
02:04We honor Amaya.
02:05Should she have won?
02:06Yes.
02:07I love her spirit.
02:08I love her energy.
02:08And people try to play her in the top of the season, but she came out as queen on top.
02:13So, amen.
02:14Huda is a crash out.
02:15I honor Huda as well, too.
02:17Huda is just going through some things internally, and I get it, because Huda was me in my 20s.
02:22So, you know, we honor her, but we also need a BetterHelp subscription as well to kind of work through some of that stuff.
02:28Ace, that is my booski for life.
02:31I love Ace and Chelly.
02:32They were my favorite.
02:33But Alandria and Nick, baby.
02:36Sometimes, that was a scripture for me.
02:39Because I'm going to tell you something right now with Alandria and Nick.
02:43Sometimes, you think it's going to be one way, but then something has to be removed for you to get your man for real.
02:49And that was the lesson for me.
02:51Alandria and Nick are everything.
02:54And I root for them, and I love them.
02:55It's crazy.
02:56And I'm trying to be on Love Island next season.
02:59How can I come on as a guest?
02:59No, Danielle.
03:00I want to be a guest judge.
03:02Are you kidding?
03:03Meg Thee Stallion was on there twerking.
03:04I want to twerk, too.
03:05Are you kidding?
03:05I'm so sorry, guys, to be this person.
03:08But what is Love Island?
03:10I think it's on an island, it sounds like it.
03:12No, I'm guessing it's in a studio somewhere.
03:15What are these names?
03:15It's on a real island?
03:17What's that name?
03:17It's animated, it's not.
03:18Is that a Maya Papaya?
03:20Is that a name?
03:20A Maya Papaya.
03:21A Maya Papaya.
03:22So, Love Island is the, um, I'm so sorry to ghosts, but Love Island is the greatest show
03:26ever produced.
03:26It, it, quite literally.
03:28It's Love Island and ghosts for me.
03:30Yeah.
03:30But is it good because it's good television or because it's like a train wreck?
03:34It's good because it quite literally is a psychological thriller.
03:37What?
03:38This is why these men, they're, and Taylor, tell me what the premise of, it's a reality
03:43show?
03:44It is.
03:44It's a reality show, and there's coupling up, and there's challenges where they do kind
03:49of, you know, some sexual behaviors with each other.
03:53So, it's Road Rules Challenge, then.
03:56It ish.
03:57Ish.
03:58Ish.
03:58More focused on the romance than the challenge.
04:00The romance, exactly.
04:01The challenges are secondary.
04:03What's the name of the show in Ghosts that they always watch?
04:05Yes, it's Too Fon.
04:06Oh, Getting Hot in here.
04:06Getting Hot in here.
04:07It's literally that.
04:08It's that.
04:09Okay.
04:10And this is my, this season was fantastic.
04:14What about 90 Day Fiancé?
04:15Shut up to all.
04:1690 days after, 90 days before, 90 days later.
04:1890 minutes too soon.
04:20Gone in 90 seconds.
04:21There's 90 days the other way.
04:22There's a whole series of those.
04:23I like those.
04:24Those are fun.
04:24I love unscripted television.
04:26I love it.
04:28Now, I want to spend all day kiki-ing with you on Love Island, but I do want to talk about
04:33the show.
04:33No.
04:34And you've given me a way in, because we're talking about love, we're talking about romance.
04:38You kissed Pete.
04:39Sure did.
04:40Tell me about your reaction.
04:42Before she kissed Pete, she got facepalmed, but let's not bring that up.
04:45Okay, first of all.
04:46But she facepalmed first.
04:48Right.
04:49So, yeah, you had it coming.
04:50Yes.
04:50Oh, yes.
04:51Yes.
04:51Alberta got played all of that last season.
04:53I mean, I was like, this is trauma.
04:55We got Thorfinn talking about her hat.
04:57She got facepalmed.
04:58I'm like, when is our girl going to win?
05:00And now she's entering her soft girl era.
05:03She's healed.
05:04She's in her healed era.
05:05She's done with the toxic men.
05:06She's done with the bootleggers.
05:07She's done with Lamorne Morris, who played the Negro Baseball League band.
05:10She's like, I want my thin-lipped booski, and I'm ready to go.
05:14He's kind of the size of the bottom lip.
05:16Soft girl era?
05:18Yeah, soft girl.
05:19So there's like a soft boy era.
05:21Soft means like you're a dick baby.
05:22Yeah, we're done with the toxicity.
05:24You know, we're meditating.
05:24You're kicking down the wall.
05:25You're being set.
05:26We're healed.
05:26We're healed.
05:26We're meditating.
05:27It's cuddling.
05:28Self-care.
05:29This is our time to just be loved.
05:30She's in a growth spurt.
05:31Yeah.
05:31Her vulnerability is being shared.
05:33It's being talked about.
05:34And I love this for her.
05:35Get her a comp subscription next.
05:37And you and Richard Moriarty.
05:39My God, the chemistry on these two?
05:43Holy sparks.
05:44But I'm excited.
05:45For Wago.
05:46Am I right?
05:47Come on.
05:47I'm not.
05:48First of all, my TikTok, when that kiss happened, my TikTok was blowing up.
05:52If you could see the sizzle reels that fans have created between Richie Moriarty and I,
05:57it is fantastic.
05:58We've been waiting.
05:59I can't wait for season five.
05:59We've been waiting for that big old smooch.
06:01This show sometimes gives me almost a Fleetwood Mac vibe where I'm like, who's hooking up
06:06with who?
06:06Okay.
06:07What is the unhinged pairing that you're waiting to see happen?
06:11You want to say it?
06:14Well, yeah.
06:15Trevor and Sass.
06:18I was going to say Trevor and Nancy.
06:21Trevor and Nancy would be epic.
06:23I think long term, there is a lot of Trevor-Heddy tension that is building and building and building
06:30and that we're crafting into something.
06:32So, I think that's a pretty unhinged pairing.
06:35But Trevor and Sass would do that.
06:36Oh, I don't know, man.
06:37Sass, man.
06:38He needs, Sass doesn't have any house love.
06:40He needs to find some house love.
06:41Doesn't Sass have a little?
06:42Sass got a girl's house.
06:43Sass got a girl's house.
06:44Sass got a girl's house.
06:44Sass got a girl's house.
06:44Sass got a girl's house.
06:44We need a non-proper.
06:45We're doing Fleetwood Mac.
06:46We're not talking about dating other bands.
06:48We've got Joan.
06:48We've got Joan.
06:49Joan is amazing.
06:50Sass got a dog's amazing.
06:51Joan is amazing.
06:52Oh, yeah.
06:53And Joan gave Alberta liquor, so she's always on the right side of history for me.
06:57She is great, yeah.
06:58Yeah.
06:58Now, I know some fans speculated that this season would maybe end with Sam finding out
07:03that she was pregnant.
07:04And I'm curious, if we eventually get a baby in the mix, how do you think your characters
07:09would respond?
07:11Thor loves babies.
07:12Oh, Thor is so good.
07:14Yeah.
07:15Gordon, the whole thing, he's, yeah, Thor.
07:17I mean, Thor has a similar vocabulary to a baby.
07:20Okay, that seemed a little sharp.
07:24Pointy.
07:25No, it's a compliment.
07:26He's going to connect with them.
07:29Oh, wow.
07:32Picked up some dog poop, but then put it in a nice box.
07:36It's a good thing.
07:37I'm like, oh, that smells like, but no, it's a beautiful box.
07:40And thank you.
07:41I'm going to cherish that nice piece of poop.
07:42I'm going to put it on my display case.
07:46Thor, he's actually very articulate.
07:48And decisively so, he tries to kind of diminish himself to communicate with the lessers.
07:54Yes.
07:55So there's kind of like a thing like, you know, you don't want to be the smartest guy
07:57in the room because you don't want to, like, get people scared.
07:59You're good with babies.
08:00Yeah.
08:01You're good with babies.
08:02That's what I'm trying to say in a roundabout way.
08:05Yeah.
08:06We have established, though, through that Gordon storyline that babies can see ghosts.
08:10Yes, it can.
08:11At least at a higher rate than adults can.
08:13So that would be a lot of fun.
08:14It would be.
08:15The way that we.
08:16And how would Jay feel if his baby is seeing more ghosts than he is?
08:18Oh, my God.
08:19So jealous.
08:20That made my mom be so cute.
08:22I mean, it would be a huge challenge for Jay and Sam, right?
08:25You got a baby, restaurant, failing B&B, house full of ghosts.
08:28They keep messing everything up.
08:30No offense, but you guys keep messing everything up.
08:32Hold on.
08:32We are the kids.
08:33Something's coming to me right now.
08:34What about a possession episode with the baby?
08:37My God.
08:37Okay, here we go.
08:38Pitch.
08:39That would be really funny.
08:41What's that?
08:41That would be the whole CGI budget I'm making that.
08:44That's it?
08:46Thorfinn possesses baby.
08:48Can't wait.
08:49She's electrocuting a baby at the scenes.
08:51The show takes a long time to shoot.
08:53So having a little baby on set would be really difficult for us to manage, I think.
08:58Although I get it from a story perspective.
09:01We don't need any babies.
09:03We got businesses to run.
09:04We are the babies.
09:05They're the babies.
09:06The ghosts are the kids.
09:07We really are.
09:08And I think she got her hands full.
09:09For sure.
09:10Now, we're talking about maybe the baby getting to see ghosts.
09:13We finally, finally got you to interact with the ghosts.
09:18Yeah.
09:18For once, you don't have to pretend that you can't hear everyone around you.
09:23What was it like, even for a fleeting moment, to be part of the squad?
09:26It was surreal.
09:27It was really fun, but there were times when, like, we were doing a scene when Jay is listening
09:33to his parents talk, and Rebecca put her hand on my shoulder, and I was like, yo, yo,
09:38you can't touch me.
09:38What are you doing?
09:39Yes.
09:40This is not safe.
09:41And then I realized that I was a ghost.
09:43But I wish we had more time.
09:46Yeah.
09:46Devin and I only got to hug once.
09:49Flower and I got to share one line.
09:51I didn't get to meet Pete.
09:52You know, we had, it was fleeting.
09:55I really wish that we could have done it more.
09:57And I hope we get a chance to do it more.
09:59I will say, I want to shout out, the BBC gang that came up with this show are so brilliant.
10:07And the fact that we do get these moments where, like, we've done 72 episodes of this
10:12thing, and every storyline we get to, we're like, we wish we had more time on that.
10:16Because the concept is so rich, and you could go in any direction, that it's like, every
10:21time we start walking down an avenue, you can kind of see where we could go with it,
10:25and then it's time to move on to something else, which I think also makes it exciting
10:28to watch, because there's just endless possibilities.
10:30Asher's pitching two-hour episodes.
10:33Oh my god, let's do West Wing-style scripts.
10:37If you're interested in long-form ghosts, why don't you reach out and let us know?
10:40Yeah, I'll get Aaron Sorkin.
10:41Asher, what's your, uh, Asher's frog message?
10:42Joe Port's email is...
10:44Now, it's no secret that this show has a massive fan base.
10:50I'm so curious if any of the theories, excitement, commentary from the fans have ever bled into
10:57your own interpretations of your character.
10:59Have you ever seen a TikTok about your character and said, ah, that's it?
11:05You know what?
11:06Something I saw on TikTok recently, they were like, we want to see Alberta sing something
11:09other than jazz.
11:10And I was like, I would kill to sing Creep or something if she got really depressed, and
11:17singing something just so let field.
11:20I love the fans of this show, and I don't know if y'all are on TikTok like that, but the
11:26discourse online about us and the reels that have been created about us, man, we have the
11:33best fans ever.
11:34Yeah.
11:34We really do.
11:35Yeah.
11:35We love you fans.
11:37Thanks, fans.
11:38We love y'all.
11:39Well, I think it's also so special to have a show that's had a sense of longevity here.
11:43I mean, I know as actors, it's always so great to have something steady for a while, but also
11:48we see shows that get a single season and then don't get the chance to really flourish.
11:53What has it been like getting to be on this journey for so many years now and getting that
11:58experience of like, we have a hit and we get to keep making it?
12:04I mean, I...
12:04Well, it's a precedence.
12:06You know, once you do something and, you know, it's good, right?
12:09You got to keep improving and you don't want to like slip, you know what I'm saying?
12:12Like when you start winning championships, you got to win another championship.
12:15You got to win another championship.
12:16You know what I'm saying?
12:17So like my friend Tom Brady, we did a commercial together a couple of years back.
12:21I don't know if you guys saw that, but it was a hit.
12:23Hugs?
12:24Yeah.
12:24Some people say it was the worst commercial of all time, but I thought it was a pretty
12:27good one.
12:28I'm back to...
12:29We hate you, right?
12:30Back to Tom.
12:30We had a moment.
12:33We're trying...
12:33We're just trying to improve and like refine what we got and because we know we got a good thing,
12:38but we don't want to take, you know...
12:40What's the word I'm looking for?
12:42When you take things for granted?
12:43Yes, exactly.
12:44We don't want to do that one.
12:45We're grateful, but we got to keep pushing.
12:47So this is mostly to Asher because this guy...
12:52Yeah.
12:53He shows up to work.
12:54This is more of an inspirational...
12:55I take Tuesdays and Thursdays off.
12:57I'm there, but I'm not really present.
12:59Sometimes he shows up and he just phoned it in and we're like...
13:02You know what's amazing is like we started shooting this in the pandemic.
13:06The pilot was shot during the pandemic.
13:08We all met there.
13:10Before that, it had been, what, six to seven months of them waiting to see if they'd shoot
13:15the pilot.
13:16We shot the first season and a half or two seasons with like masks on.
13:20We couldn't even see our crew's faces.
13:22Yeah.
13:23And then the masks came off and we started building this real family on set.
13:29We could actually spend time with each other.
13:31And I think it's just so special.
13:33Like, we have lunch together every day.
13:36We all sit around a table.
13:37We share meals.
13:38We go out together.
13:40We have not gotten sick of each other.
13:42If anything, we've just gotten closer and more aware of who each other are, which is
13:47really cool.
13:47And the fact that the fans are feeling that love and sharing it with us from kids to their
13:52parents to their grandparents is really special.
13:55It's like the only show on TV where the whole family can sit down and watch it together.
14:00Except when Trevor and Heddy are on screen together.
14:04Then they got to close their eyes.
14:05Yeah, yeah.
14:06But it's a special thing.
14:08Yeah, we're grateful.
14:09Well, today, you get to talk to the fans directly.
14:13Oh!
14:14I know that this is always one of everyone's favorite moments is being at Comic-Con when
14:19you get to actually tangibly feel the love from the fans.
14:23What are you excited most about getting to share with them at Comic-Con?
14:27I'm more nervous about the questions because I feel like the fans really know a lot of
14:31trivia about the show that probably, they probably know more than some of us do, me and myself.
14:36So, like, I'm going to defer if there's some hardcore questions about specific episodes
14:41and things as such.
14:42But I just love community.
14:44Just, we were just walking over here and just meeting people.
14:47Yes.
14:48Dude, it's awesome.
14:48Because, like, we shoot up in Montreal, so we're kind of like, we don't get to interact
14:52with the fans.
14:53And when we all get to see them, it's just the best.
14:55We love these dudes.
14:55It is a surreal experience to get these scripts.
14:59And we shoot, UTK said this, we shoot fast.
15:02And we're, like, the morning of it, we're trying to figure out, okay, so this lines up
15:04with this.
15:05This goes with this.
15:05We shoot fast unless you're on set, but yeah.
15:08I try to just slow it all down, you know.
15:13Oh!
15:13There you go.
15:14Straight bullets.
15:14And this is our dynamic.
15:15Straight bullets.
15:16This is our dynamic.
15:17We just, we don't draw blood.
15:19We just poke and prod with, like, a butter knife.
15:21This man be drawing blood.
15:23This man be drawing blood, okay.
15:25Well, you know, but if I do draw blood, I'm going to put a band-aid on it, and it's going
15:28to heal stronger.
15:30Is that a new thing?
15:30Come on, Neosporin.
15:31I love you.
15:32It's hard to buy.
15:33Right to you, buddy.
15:34I'm an emotional Neosporin.
15:36Asher, go ahead, baby.
15:38I was saying, I don't know what I was saying.
15:41You were saying something really, it was hard.
15:42It is.
15:43No, but it is kind of crazy.
15:45It is.
15:45To see, like, these very subtle things that you find in these scripts, and then to see
15:50a fan, and again, we are in a foreign country shooting this, and then to come back home
15:55and have fans be like, that moment when you glance at whatever, we're clocking that.
16:01We're saying, like, where is that going?
16:02Is that going?
16:02And it's so fulfilling and thrilling that these small things.
16:08This guy is an Easter egg.
16:11I do.
16:11I love an Easter egg.
16:12He's an Easter buddy.
16:13I do.
16:13I see him one all the time.
16:14I'm like, what are you doing?
16:15I know what you're doing.
16:16You guys are Easter egging.
16:17He's like, shut up, Devin.
16:19And I try to, like, I get jealous.
16:20Rebecca Wasaki and I love some Easter eggs.
16:22So I try to, like, I try to ruin their Easter eggs, but they don't care.
16:25No one is more of an enemy of subtlety than Devin Chandler.
16:31H-Body's doing Easter eggs.
16:32Get it out of here.
16:33Let's get that shot out of here.
16:35We would not have been picked up for season five or six without our fans.
16:38Like, seven to ten million people weekly watching this show is unheard of during this climate.
16:43We are so excited for job security, being able to take care of our families.
16:46I mean, to be on this show is an honor, and I can't wait to go back to summer camp with you all on Monday.
16:50I'm excited.
16:52Did you just end the conversation?
16:53She did.
16:54She did.
16:56She kind of, like, did.
16:57This is great.
16:58I'm going to put a bow on this.
17:00Devin got a piece of poop in a box.
17:02I think we're good here.
17:02Yeah.
17:03Do you want to go ahead and do the outro?
17:04No, I can if you want.
17:07Yeah, go ahead and say thanks so much for joining us at Variety Studio.
