00:00Let that bitch go first.
00:01I say bitch a lot.
00:02Watch this, watch this.
00:03Here it goes.
00:06Hell yeah, we're gonna have a scene,
00:07100% based on the thong song.
00:21My very first movie, Let That Bitch Go First.
00:24I say bitch a lot.
00:25Let That Bitch Go First.
00:27That was 8 Mile.
00:29Let That Bitch Go First.
00:32Funny story for that scene.
00:34We shot that.
00:35There used to be this club in Detroit called the Shantiki,
00:38and they made a replica of it.
00:40And they had like 400 extras in this little room,
00:42and it was packed.
00:43It was like the craziest hip hop cypher of all time
00:46on a set in real life.
00:49And how that line came out,
00:52it was supposed to say, you know,
00:53he can go first was the line.
00:55And Eminem had came to me and talked to me
00:58about the idea of Papa Doc and, you know,
01:01the B-Rabbit and the two characters.
01:03And I was like, we were always trying to one-up each other.
01:07And, you know, my thing is, like,
01:09if I'm beefing with this dude,
01:10I ain't gonna be able to let him go first.
01:11Nah, he a bitch.
01:12Let that bitch go first.
01:13So when I said it, I saw M eyes go, yeah, okay.
01:16And I'm like, yeah.
01:17So if you watch it, you see Makai jump in between us,
01:20like, oh!
01:21So it was all, like, in the moment.
01:26And I feel I gave a nice added bump for what was to come
01:32with Marshall's dismantle of Papa Doc.
01:35Every time we go out, it's life or death.
01:41You roll the dice.
01:42You deal with it.
01:43You recognize that, don't you?
01:45Nah, it's Hurt Locker.
01:47Every time we go out, it's life or death.
01:51You roll the dice, and you deal with it.
01:57Hurt Locker is probably one of the most important acting
02:02experiences I had.
02:03We shot that in 2007, and I remember I was doing a movie
02:09in North Carolina with quite possibly the worst director
02:15to ever direct.
02:17Ironically, because of that, the movie never came out.
02:19And because of that, the movie went over,
02:22and I had to pull out of Hurt Locker.
02:25They offered it to somebody else, and he said no
02:28because it wasn't enough money.
02:31And they came back to me, and they were like, look,
02:32you know, we'll wait if you do it.
02:36I'm like, fuck yeah, I'll do it.
02:37They're like, but you got to be on a plane the day
02:39after you wrap.
02:40So I went from this sucky director who had no business
02:44in being in the business or in the director's chair
02:48to Kathryn Bivillow.
02:50And the moment I landed in Amman, Jordan,
02:54like we hit the ground running, like cultural research,
02:58military research, character studies,
03:00like the real work a director does.
03:02And it really was poignant to me, like the type of people
03:06I want to work with, and the type of people
03:08who shouldn't be working.
03:13Please tell me I knocked that son of a bitch out.
03:15That's the ending moment of Captain America with Red Hulk,
03:20which is funny because that, is that right?
03:25Oh, good, good, good.
03:26Please tell me I knocked that son of a bitch out.
03:30That moment, you know, I'm supposed to be in the street
03:33covered in debris and rocks, and it's all these fake rocks.
03:36So I couldn't breathe or see,
03:39because I was covered in fake rock dust.
03:41I couldn't open my eyes, because my eyes
03:43was full of fake rock dust.
03:44So I really couldn't tell if he was knocked out or not.
03:47We were working on this huge set in Atlanta.
03:50And I remember one of the grips, this older guy,
03:56and I said the line I stood up, and he came over.
03:58He was like, it's hot as hell out here.
04:00I hope you knock that son of a bitch out, too.
04:03So that was a fun day.
04:05I never thought I would be playing Captain America,
04:08because we had a perfectly healthy Captain America.
04:10I mean, you know, when you look at Chris Evans and, you know,
04:14Marvel had this interesting thing where pretty much everybody
04:17were allowed to have three movies.
04:19Like, everybody have three movies, and they were done.
04:21You know, Thor being the only one with like 17 movies.
04:24So I never thought that there would be an opportunity.
04:28I was thinking that there would be a Falcon movie,
04:32but I never thought it would be Falcon Captain America movie.
04:35I never saw that happenin'.
04:42I listened to Unleash the Dragon so many times the disc broke.
04:44Oh, well, that's Twisted Metal, season one.
04:50Look, I listened to Unleash the Dragon so many times the disc broke.
04:53To be honest, if you listen to the thong song, the melodic ability of Sisqo is one in a million.
05:05Shout out to Sisqo.
05:13This, you know, with this line, I have to give credit to our writer, MJ.
05:18When he picked the thong song, you know, it was funny because I'm like,
05:21hell yeah, we're going to have a scene 100% based on Drew Hill and Sisqo and the thong song.
05:28That, I mean, in Unleash the Dragon, because, you know, Baby Big Mom, I mean, it's classic.
05:35You can't top that album.
05:38Let me see that thong.
05:42Like it when the beat go?
05:43Da-da-da-da.
05:44Baby, let your booty go.
05:45Da-da-da-da.
05:46Season two, we re-upped, got some really good music, some really good.
05:52I think this season is truly an ensemble season.
05:56One thing I'm excited about, the list of characters we have, the actors we have that are so amazing.
06:02Like I said, last year, you know, I knew Sweet Tooth was going to be the breakout star of the season,
06:06but Sweet Tooth is just, you know, what Samoa Joe does with that character is amazing.
06:14Time for the posh ring is over.
06:16It's time to, ooh, ooh, ooh.
06:22Time for the posh ring is over.
06:24It's time to act.
06:27What is this?
06:28Oh, damn it.
06:30That's good.
06:31The time for posturing is over.
06:35It's time to act.
06:37I actually talked to Brian two days ago.
06:39Shout out, Brian Cranston.
06:40All the Way was an amazing opportunity and an amazing project to work on because I was
06:47so nervous about the idea of playing somebody as legendary as Martin Luther King, you know,
06:52and not it really being a true idea of his essence or, you know, person as opposed to a mimicry of who we
07:00thought he thought he might have been, but I couldn't have did it with a better actor than Brian.
07:04And, um, we've been friends ever since and he makes good tequila.
07:08Let's see.
07:09I ain't makin' no more tacos.
07:11I ain't makin' no more tacos.
07:15I ain't makin' up after nobody's tacos.
07:18I put my beef in that taco, baby.
07:20Everybody's gonna eat some of this.
07:23This is Pain and Gain.
07:27Pain and Gain was probably one of the craziest work experiences I ever had because we shot it in Miami.
07:42So the Miami Heat had just won the championship, right?
07:46So there's this club called Live.
07:49My boy is, he was the Miami Heat DJ and he was the DJ at Live.
07:55So I had to be at work the next morning.
07:57Miami Heat was throwing a party at Live.
08:00It was crazy.
08:00LeBron was there.
08:01D-Way, everybody.
08:02It was crazy.
08:03They were like, the ceiling was moving.
08:04It was crazy.
08:05So my boy hit me.
08:07He's like, yo, what you doing?
08:08And I was like, I'm at the crib.
08:09I gotta go to work in the morning.
08:10He's like, nah, you gotta come to Live now, dog.
08:12It's going down.
08:13So I'm like, ah, get in the car.
08:15Sweat!
08:15Go down to Live.
08:16I show up, go in the back, go to the DJ booth.
08:19He go, yo, everybody's coming tonight.
08:22I'm gonna need you to do me a favor.
08:23I'm like, what's up?
08:24He goes, I'm gonna need you to put this on and spray the crowd with nitrous.
08:30Like, you know, cold air.
08:33So he gives me a Smurf costume, like a full seven foot Smurf costume in a LeBron jersey.
08:42And I stood on the DJ booth with DJ Irie, spraying like cold air over the crowd.
08:50And then I lost my balance and I fell off the DJ booth.
08:53So anybody who was dead at night, if you saw the Smurf fall off the DJ booth, that was me.
09:00Shout out to DJ Irie.
09:02Watch this.
09:04Watch this.
09:05Here it goes.
09:06That sucks.
09:12All it had to do was go over.
09:16We're not gonna fight, we're gonna kiss.
09:24Man, this sounds like my real life.
09:34What is this?
09:40Yeah, this is the rain sequence.
09:42Yeah.
09:43By far the worst night of that shoot because of the rain.
09:47And them literally spraying us with hose pipes because we were in Brazil.
09:51But Black Mirror was amazing.
09:52It was on my bucket list to be in an episode of Black Mirror.
09:56And I loved that show from inception.
10:00Oh, cut the check.
10:04Yeah.
10:05That's my...
10:06So a lot of people don't know where this came from.
10:09I'm a big Roots fan.
10:12Black Thought is probably the, if not number one, number two greatest MC of all time.
10:17He has this song and it's about rappers not saying nothing.
10:21And at the end of lollygagging and running their mouth, they say, cut the check.
10:26Right?
10:27So like, give it here and don't say nothing.
10:28Right?
10:29So for me, I'm like, yo, if I do my work, when I put in my money shot, this is what I'm
10:35here to get paid for.
10:36Like, so I had to let them know when we were all of...
10:39Every time I'm on, you know, a Marvel movie, that's my thing is eight.
10:43I gave you the money.
10:45So give me the money.
10:46You should record this.
10:48It's going to be good.
10:53Cut the check.
10:54It just came out of the ridiculous, playful nature of us shooting those movies.
10:58Oh, that was good.
10:59Cut the check.
11:00Boom.
11:01Cut the check.
11:02Cut the check.
11:04Cut the check.
11:05Let them know.
11:06Hell yeah, man.
11:08Look, they'll shortchange you however they can.
11:10I go up to the line producer and say, hey, cut the check.
11:15I'm like, uh, okay.
11:17It's coming.
11:18Well, I'm from Louisiana.
11:24It doesn't mean my daddy taught me how to use a grenade launcher.
11:28Oh, uh, uh, grenade launcher outside the wire.
11:33No, no, no.
11:34Wait.
11:35Elevation.
11:36Elevation.
11:37Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
11:38I'm from Louisiana.
11:39It doesn't mean my dad taught me how to use a grenade launcher.
11:42Elevation was an interesting moment.
11:45You know, being in 30 Rock, my boy, George Nolfi, we've done three, four, 17 movies together now.
11:52And, um, Elevation was kind of something, you know, he was working on, came up with and called me and sent it to me.
12:00And, you know, it's always good to work with friends.
12:04Like, it's always be able to go to, it's always good to be able to go to work and just enjoy the people that you're with.
12:10It's one of those projects that just came together perfectly.
12:13Because of that, like, it was just a bunch of friends that got together in nowhere, Colorado, and made a good movie.
12:19But what really pissed me off about Elevation, we shot that in Boulder, Colorado, about three months before Deion Sanders got to the University of Colorado.
12:30I was the only black dude.
12:32I discovered Colorado.
12:34Colorado, Boulder was not a city until I got there.
12:37And then three months later, Deion Sanders show up and every black person in America all of a sudden is in Boulder, Colorado.
12:45Come on, man.
12:47Sundance went to Boulder, Colorado because of me.
12:51Because I shot that movie there.
12:53That's all I got to say.
12:54I discovered Boulder, Colorado.
12:56Shout out to Breckenridge.
13:00and we'll be right back.
13:02I'll see you next time.
13:04Male
