Producer Douglas Urbanski describes how Orson Welles shared his Directing credit in a way most people would have thought uncharacteristic of him.

00:00when citizen kane was being finished here's where orson's head actually was at
00:08you may not remember but an hour or so ago two hours ago you saw the opening credits
00:13and orson does not have single card directing credit
00:18he shares it with the director of photography greg toland and he wrote about this and talked
00:23about this for the rest of his life that greg toland co-directed the movie with him and that's
00:27why he gave him the credit so we hear a lot about orson's ego and then we hear a lot of other
00:33things that sort of contradict this he was very generous with people as well so he puts he chooses
00:38he has approval over the cards he puts greg toland's name there on his card and he does something else
00:46they hand him the approvals and it says screenplay by orson wells and herman mankiewicz
00:54and orson has a red crayon and he takes it and he draws an arrow to put herman's name above his
