My buddy Peter and I pulled off a quick-hit Eastside ski mission - the kind that's hard to do these days. We flew his Cessna from Truckee to Bridgeport, stayed at the yurt in Virginia Lakes, and skied the South Couloir of Dunderberg Peak the next morning.
With a tight window, we left Truckee after dinner on Thursday and were back home by 2PM Friday.
On Friday morning, we scoped the line early, confirmed it went, and started up around 8:15AM. We skinned halfway and booted the rest — a solid 2,500 feet of vert. The snow was surprisingly good top to bottom, with smooth corn on top and a fun, surfy wiggle line down low.
