00:43cyrus in isaiah 45 is one such example a pagan king used by god to preserve his people the focus is not the man but the message this is not about politics it's about prophecy god is shaking the nations and the church must not be asleep we're not called to worship human leaders or place our hope in governments
01:08we are called to discern the times test every spirit and prepare our hearts for the return of christ the question is not where does trump stand the real question is what does god want the church to see repent of and respond to in this moment
01:23one god often uses unlikely leaders to fulfill his purposes many years ago i preached a sermon on isaiah 45 a chapter where god calls cyrus a pagan persian king my shepherd and even my anointed the congregation was visibly uncomfortable
01:42one person asked me afterward pastor why would god call anon believing king his anointed i opened my bible and said because god is sovereign and he does what serves his glory not our comfort this same principle is true today
02:00donald trump is not a biblical figure but the parallels in how god uses leaders remain god has always used flawed imperfect people nebuchadnezzar pharaoh cyrus to bring about his purposes even pontius pilate who condemned christ played a role in fulfilling prophecy
02:24god god is not limited to righteous rulers he orchestrates events through broken vessels through chaos and even through controversy proverbs 21 one says the king's heart is in the hand of the lord he turns it wherever he wills
02:41we must be careful however not to exalt the instrument above the hand that uses it trump may serve a divine function in shaking nations stirring conflict or exposing corruption but he is not the redeemer he is not the hope of america let alone the church that role belongs to christ alone too many in the church have forgotten this they've traded discernment for blind loyalty
03:10scripture for slogans and the gospel for political gain when we exalt a man instead of the messiah we fall into idolatry we must see with biblical eyes trump's rise his trials his global impact they may all be part of something god is allowing to awaken his church
03:30the real question isn't what trump is doing it's what god is doing through this moment in history so let us not put our hope in prince's psalm 146 3 let us look to the lord of history who appoints kings removes them and calls his people to remain holy alert and faithful
03:50two political chaos is a prophetic alarm not a distraction i once spoke with a young man who told me he stopped reading the news it was too chaotic too disturbing he said i just want peace all this political drama makes me anxious
04:10and while i understood his desire for peace i gently told him the chaos is not a distraction it's a divine alarm in matthew 24
04:22jesus listed signs of the end wars rumors of wars nation rising against nation deception betrayal lawlessness he wasn't giving random predictions he was sounding a prophetic trumpet
04:38look at the world today we see confusion and division on every side headlines about trump his legal battles rallies policies and the hatred he evokes are not the root issue
04:52they are symptoms of a world under divine pressure god is allowing the foundations of this world system to shake so that his people will look up the church must stop treating politics as
05:06as entertainment and start recognizing the eternal significance behind the headlines we are not called to be obsessed with political outcomes but we are called to interpret the times matthew 16
05:203 and today's political storm isn't accidental it's revelatory god is using the turbulence to reveal the idols of men power nationalism self-preservation
05:34he is showing us how easily hearts are swayed how even the church can become more loyal to a party than to the prince of peace
05:41he guy 2 7 says i will shake all nations and they shall come to the desire of all nations the shaking is designed to lead us to christ but many are missing it they are glued to opinion shows but deaf to scripture they can quote political pundits
06:03but not the prophets church listen closely political chaos is not permission to panic
06:10it is a signal to pray to repent and to wake up it's god's way of separating the wheat from the chaff will we trust in horses and chariots or will we remember the name of the lord our god psalm 20 7 this is not the time to unplug
06:30it's the time to spiritually plug in and be discerning
06:353 the church must not confuse patriotism with christianity i once attended a gathering where a large banner hung behind the pulpit that read god and country one nation under trump
06:49the worship team sang patriotic anthems flags were everywhere but something was missing jesus now don't misunderstand me i love this country i'm thankful for the freedoms we enjoy but beloved when patriotism eclipses the gospel we have not only lost balance we have lost our biblical compass
