00:00beloved we live in a time of incredible spiritual blindness yet with prophetic clarity we are watching the unfolding of events that scripture has long foretold our lord jesus christ in matthew 24 described birth pains wars rumors of wars famines earthquakes lawlessness and deception
00:23these are not vague signs they are precise indicators pointing to his imminent return and while many dismiss this as sensationalism the true believer knows that the rapture is not a fairy tale or fiction it is a divine appointment the rapture the catching away of the church could happen at any moment it is not preceded by warning sirens but by the still faithful proclamation of god's
00:53is not when but are you ready are you watching with oil in your lamp alert and faithful or have you dozed off in the comfort of cultural christianity this is not a time for complacency the darkness is deepening deception is multiplying and the world is drunk with its own rebellion but the church must remain vigilant holy and expectant jesus said in luke 21 28
01:23lift up your heads for your redemption droth nigh so i ask you today are you truly watching certainly below our keynote one and keynote two each expanded to around 350 words written in a storytelling expository style that mirrors john mac arthur's pastoral teaching rooted in scripture precise in theology and rich in exhortation keynote one the rapture is a biblical promise not a theological option i
01:53i remember once i remember once standing at the bedside of a dying saint an elderly woman who had walked with christ for over 60 years her body was frail her voice barely a whisper but her eyes were full of hope she didn't ask about heaven's streets of gold or angelic choirs she said with quiet certainty pastor will i hear the trumpet that's the heart of the believer who knows the rapture is real
02:21not a speculative theory not some fringe teaching but a concrete blood bought promise from the living christ paul declared in 1 thessalonians 4 16-17 the lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout and the dead in christ shall rise first then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them to meet the lord in the air
02:47caught up harpazo in the greek means to snatch suddenly forcibly the latin word for it raptura that's where we get rapture it is not fabricated it's in the text
02:59jesus himself affirmed this hope in john 14 3 saying if i go and prepare a place for you i will come again and receive you to myself
03:10he wasn't speaking symbolically he was giving a concrete assurance that he would personally physically and powerfully return for his bride and yet in many pulpits today this doctrine is treated like an embarrassment either skipped entirely or watered down to vague moral lessons some dismiss it as divisive others reduce it to metaphor
03:36but beloved we do not have the liberty to redact scripture the early church lived with this expectation paul urged the thessalonians to comfort one another with these words
03:48why because the rapture is the church is blessed hope titus 2 13 if your theology has no place for the imminent return of christ then your heart may have no room for urgency or holiness this is not optional it's essential the trumpet could sound today will you be ready
04:11keynote 2 the signs of the end are intensifying let me take you back to a conversation i had with a veteran missionary he had spent decades in africa and the middle east witnessing civil wars persecution and revival
04:29one day as we sat together over coffee he leaned in and said john i've never seen the world in such chaos
04:38it feels like everything is accelerating i looked him in the eye and said it is jesus told us in matthew 24 that the end would not arrive without signs birth pains he called them
04:54false messiahs famines pestilences earthquakes betrayal lawlessness and the love of many growing cold
05:03you don't need a prophetic imagination to see this happening you just need a newspaper take a look around wars erupting in places of former peace
05:15the redefining of morality nations rising against nations economic instability global disease natural disasters and the persecution of truth and not only in the world but in the church
05:27two timothy three paints the portrait clearly in the last days perilous times will come for men will be lovers of themselves despisers of good having a form of godliness but denying its power you turn on so-called christian television and see men using jesus as a tool to sell miracles and prosperity
05:49that's not revival that's apostasy when israel was re-established as a nation in 1948 a prophetic clock began to tick louder
05:59jesus said this generation will not pass away until all these things take place never in history has a generation seen such alignment of prophecy
06:11prophecy and reality but most are asleep lulled by entertainment distracted by politics intoxicated with self
06:21the intensifying signs are not meant to terrify the church but to awaken her to stir her to action to holiness to evangelism
06:31jesus said in luke 21 28 when these things begin to happen
06:37look up and lift up your heads because your redemption draws near
06:42these are not just random crises they are divine alarms god is not silent he's shouting through history get ready time is short and the true church must not yawn in the face of prophecy certainly
06:58here are keynote three and keynote four each written in a story telling style of approximately three hundred fifty words maintaining the sober scripture centered and pastoral voice that reflects john mac arthur's expository teaching
07:15keynote three the church must be watchful not worldly years ago
07:20i visited a small chapel nestled in the swiss alps
07:24the caretaker told me it was once filled every sunday
07:28songs rising to heaven
07:30sermons thundering through the stone walls
07:33but when i stepped inside the pews were covered in dust the altar untouched
07:39that chapel had lost its light
07:41not because of persecution
07:43not because of poverty
07:45but because of spiritual sleep
07:47the same is happening in churches today
07:50jesus warned in mark 13 35-37
07:55watch therefore
07:56lest he come suddenly and find you sleeping
07:59his return is imminent
08:01and yet many pulpits preach comfort
08:03not conviction
08:04sermons are tailored for emotional satisfaction
08:08rather than eternal preparation
08:10the church is flirting with the world when it should be fleeing from it
08:14paul echoed this warning in romans 13 11
08:19it is high time to awake out of sleep
08:22for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed
08:25this isn't about charts or timelines
08:28it's about spiritual readiness
08:31watching means walking in obedience
08:34it means trimming your lamp
08:36keeping oil in reserve
08:38and refusing to be seduced by the spirit of the age
08:42sadly many christians have grown dull
08:45entertainment has replaced exegesis
08:49theological literacy is in decline
08:52we are distracted by politics popularity and possessions
08:58while the trumpet could sound at any moment
09:01jesus isn't coming for a sleeping bride
09:05he's coming for one alert and adorned in righteousness
09:10think of the parable of the ten virgins in matthew 25
09:14all ten had lamps
09:16all were waiting
09:17but only five had oil
09:19when the bridegroom arrived
09:21the others begged
09:22give us some of your oil
09:24but it was too late
09:26friend watching doesn't mean staring at the sky
09:29it means standing firm in holiness
09:31sound doctrine
09:33and spiritual discipline
09:35it means turning from sin
09:37living with urgency
09:39and loving his appearing to timothy 4 8
09:42the world is growing darker yes
09:45but now is the time for the church to shine brighter
09:49the true church doesn't blend in
09:51she looks up
09:53keynote 4
09:54many professing believers are unprepared
09:57i once spoke to a young man after a service
10:00and he said something that has stayed with me ever since
10:04he said pastor i believe in jesus
10:07i go to church
10:08but i don't feel any urgency
10:10i think i'll get serious about god when i'm older
10:13i looked him in the eyes and said
10:15son you're not promised another breath
10:18let alone another decade
10:19that young man had religion
10:21but no regeneration
10:23like so many today he had the appearance of faith
10:26but none of its power
10:28that's the tragedy jesus spoke of in matthew 7
10:3122-23
10:33many will say to me in that day lord lord
10:36and i will declare to them i never knew you depart from me
10:39these are not atheists
10:41they are church goers bible quoters moral people
10:45yet jesus calls them strangers
10:47it's a sobering truth
10:48many who profess christ are unprepared to meet him
10:52think again of the foolish virgins in matthew 25
10:55their lamps were in hand but they had no oil
10:58no inner transformation
11:00no genuine saving faith
11:02they assumed they would enter the wedding feast
11:04but when the bridegroom arrived
11:06they found the door shut
11:08unprepared
11:09today church rolls are full
11:11but heaven's book is not padded by profession
11:13it's secured by possession of the spirit
11:16paul said in 2 corinthians 13
11:195
11:20examine yourselves
11:21whether ye be in the faith
11:23that's not a suggestion
11:25it's a command
11:26we must test the fruit of our lives
11:29do you hunger for god's word
11:31do you grieve over sin
11:33do you long for christ's return
11:36the hour is late
11:37the sky is darkening
11:39and yet
11:40multitudes sit comfortably in pews
11:44unmoved by the word
11:46unaffected by prophecy
11:48unbothered by their apathy
11:50if the rapture were to happen tonight
11:52would you be taken
11:53or left
11:54don't wait for tragedy to shake you
11:56let truth awaken you
11:58the most terrifying words a soul could ever hear are
12:01I never knew you
12:03and the most beautiful are
12:05well done
12:06good and faithful servant
12:08you won't have time to prepare when he comes
12:11you must be prepared now
12:13certainly
12:14here's keynote 5 written in a storytelling
12:18expository style
12:19that reflects the tone and approach of John MacArthur
12:23grounded in scripture
12:25urgent and pastoral in nature
12:27keynote 5
12:29the rapture should compel urgency in evangelism and holiness years ago
12:34I received a letter from a woman who came to Christ after listening to a series on the return of the Lord
12:40she wrote
12:41pastor
12:42I realized I had no urgency in my life because I didn't truly believe Jesus could return at any moment
12:48once that truth sank in everything changed
12:51I couldn't stay silent anymore
12:53I had to tell my family my co-workers and I had to start living like I'd see him soon
13:00that's what the doctrine of the rapture does when rightly understood
13:04it doesn't lead to charts panic or hiding in bunkers
13:08it leads to action it stirs urgency
13:11it fuels evangelism and it demands holiness
13:15in Titus 2
13:1711-13
13:18Paul wrote
13:19for the grace of God has appeared
13:22training us to renounce ungodliness
13:25as we wait for our blessed hope
13:27the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ
13:32the blessed hope is not a theological idea
13:36it's a sanctifying reality
13:39if Jesus could return tonight
13:41then we must walk in holiness today
13:43the early church believed this
13:45they lived as pilgrims
13:47not settlers
13:48they spoke the gospel boldly
13:50even under threat
13:51why?
13:52because they knew time was short
13:54and yet today
13:55we delay obedience
13:57as if the Lord has given us a timetable
13:59we assume we'll have tomorrow to witness
14:03next week to repent
14:05next year to get serious
14:07but the rapture comes suddenly
14:09like a thief in the night
14:111 Thessalonians 5-2
14:13no warning
14:14no second chance
14:16and once it happens
14:17the opportunity to evangelize is over
14:20the door is shut
14:21so let me ask you
14:23when was the last time you shared the gospel
14:26with someone who's perishing?
14:28when was the last time you confessed sin
14:31knowing your Savior could come at any moment?
14:34the doctrine of Christ's imminent return
14:37is not meant to create fear
14:40it's meant to ignite faithfulness
14:42Jesus is not returning for a lukewarm casual church
14:47he's returning for a bride that's pure
14:50watching and working
14:51let the nearness of the rapture drive you
14:54not to speculation
14:56but to separation from sin
14:59proclamation of truth
15:01and dedication to the Lord
15:03he is coming
15:05be found faithful
15:06is not being able to claim for a
15:08but to be on the way
15:09and when we explain for a future
15:10I want to say thank you
15:11for the future
15:12for the record
15:13for the memory
15:15and action
15:16I want to struggle
