00:00Several lawyers, including members of the Philippine Constitution Association, or FILCONSA,
00:06support the call for the Supreme Court to review the facts behind its decision
00:10to bar the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte.
00:13They are also hoping the justices would reverse the decision if they agree they were wrong.
00:18FILCONSA, chaired by retired Chief Justice Reynato Puno, says,
00:21We therefore urge the Supreme Court to review the salient facts it relied upon in its decision
00:26to make sure the facts speak the truth, for only a decision based on indubitable facts can stand time in its vicissitudes.
00:33The Supreme Court ruled that the first three complaints were effectively dismissed
00:36because they were not acted upon up to the time the 19th Congress adjourned on February 5.
00:42The same day, the House reached the one-third vote needed to file the fourth complaint.
00:45However, opposition group 1-Sambayan noted the fourth complaint was already sent to the Senate at 4.57pm on February 5
00:52and Congress didn't officially adjourn until 7.15 that evening.
00:56FILCONSA adds the High Court did not have all the facts necessary to make a decision invulnerable to constitutional assaults.
01:03This is also why some lawyers are decrying the fact that the Supreme Court made its decision
01:07without holding oral arguments, which could have been a chance to present all the facts.
