00:00The National League here, and we'll start in the NL East.
00:02It's the New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies.
00:04Tom, I'm telling you right now, through every show we do, it has a chain.
00:07Like, Phillies are in first place, Mets are in first place one week.
00:09Phillies are in first place, Mets are in first place.
00:11No surprise again, it's a half-game lead switched yesterday.
00:13Why? Mets won, Phillies lost. They traded back and forth.
00:1663 wins for the Mets, 62 for the Philadelphia Phillies.
00:19The Marlins playing some really good baseball, by the way,
00:21but still eight back of the Mets.
00:23We don't figure they're going to factor in.
00:25But is it going to just be a coin flip the rest of the way
00:28between the Mets and the Phillies on this division?
00:31I really do.
00:33You know, I'm seeing the odds right now, and at least I'm a fan of the sportsbook,
00:36all the other teams have gotten it.
00:37Just Phillies at minus 115, Mets at minus 110.
00:40Honestly, if you have a position on either of them, you know,
00:43from preseason or earlier in the year, whatever it is,
00:45and obviously you have it at plus money,
00:46I would look to get a spot on the other team, whatever it might be.
00:49If you have Phillies, look to get the Mets at plus money.
00:52So if the Phillies win tonight and the Mets lose,
00:54and then the Phillies, you know, win Monday, Tuesday, whatever it is,
00:56the Mets lose, and you grab the Mets at plus money,
00:58or vice versa, just do that.
01:00Like, you can have plus money on both sides.
01:02And frankly, if you have no bets on this,
01:03you could probably still maneuver that over the coming weeks.
01:06If the Phillies lose tonight, the Mets win,
01:08grab the Phillies at plus money,
01:09and then the Mets at plus money on Wednesday or whatever.
01:12It is.
01:12They're going to go back and forth the rest of the way.
01:14It'll be fun to watch.
01:15Certainly a nice little rivalry here.
01:16How about the NL Central?
01:17We thought it was going to be the Cubs.
01:19Month, month and a half ago,
01:20the Cubs are just going to lay waste to everybody here.
01:22Nobody's going to challenge them.
01:23And the Brewers, 66 wins, 44 losses,
01:25won their past two games here,
01:26sit in first place over the Cubs by two games.
01:29And I always joke about this, Tom.
01:31It's like, oh, okay, name me a player on the Brewers.
01:34Yelich, name me another one.
01:35Yelich?
01:36Like, nobody knows about this team,
01:38but yet they had 66 wins.
01:40How much of a contender are they really,
01:42or are we just waiting time for the Cubs
01:43just to pass them up?
01:45I think they are a contender,
01:47but right now, you know,
01:48as of 30 minutes ago with this Mizorowski news,
01:50like, this is the most important stretch of the season.
01:52Not only is Mizorowski out on the IL again,
01:55it's a tibia issue for him.
01:56It's not an arm or shoulder issue.
01:57But Jackson Churio was also on the IL with a hamstring injury.
02:01So arguably two of their best players are now out.
02:03So, like, now rubber's going to meet the road.
02:06Brandon Woodruff has been back, you know,
02:07for a couple weeks at this point, a month, whatever it is.
02:09Can he now kind of fill the void?
02:11Because looking at the Brewers,
02:12you'd say Peralta, Woodruff, and Mizorowski,
02:15that's a great three-man.
02:16Look at the lineup.
02:17Okay, everyone's doing their part.
02:18We have this star young player.
02:19But now we have these two options removed from the hitting and the pitching.
02:22The rest of the lineup and the pitching staff needs to step up.
02:25This next two-week stretch when Miz and Churio are out,
02:28this is the most important time of the season for the Brewers
02:30to hold on to the lead and go, you know,
02:32stay within a game of the Cubs.
02:34Like, you are what your record says you are.
02:36We're in the month of August.
02:36Like, we see it all the time.
02:37I'm like, hey, man, didn't figure out the athletics would be really good.
02:40But it's in the month of April.
02:41Sooner than later, the cream rises to the top.
02:43And you take a look at the Brewers, like,
02:44oh, I just don't believe in them yet.
02:46What, you didn't believe in April, May, June, July,
02:48and now in the month of August at this point,
02:50that's a really good baseball team.
02:51We'll see if they can hold off the Cubs
02:52and keep that momentum going on their side.
02:54Another team looking to hold off another contender,
02:57that's the Los Angeles Dodgers.
02:58Five and five in their last 10 games.
03:00Their lead down to three.
03:01The Padres went out and made a bang at the trade deadline.
03:04And here they are ready to go.
03:06Is there any thought still?
03:07Because it's always we are looking for the Dodgers
03:09just to run away with this thing.
03:11They're not running away with it right now.
03:12But is there a legitimate chance
03:13that the Padres can overtake the Dodgers
03:16and win this division?
03:19I wouldn't say win the division.
03:21But, and again, like,
03:22if they're good enough to win the division,
03:24I think they're good enough to win the NLCS.
03:26And, like, so I would be,
03:27I would make a larger play on the Padres.
03:29Instead of, what is it for the NL West?
03:32Let me just check quickly.
03:33Like, plus 700, I think that's fine.
03:35If you look at them to win the NLCS,
03:37that's 10 to 1.
03:38It's not, like, some dramatic difference.
03:40But if they're good enough to win the division,
03:41they're good enough to push deep into the playoffs.
03:43So I would just take a shot on the longer number.
03:45And still, they can win the NLCS
03:47and not win the division.
03:47I'd rather have that 10 to 1 ticket.
03:50Put set up for an awesome,
03:51awesome National League playoff run.
03:53Whoever gets in there,
03:54if we think it's those top six teams
03:55that sit there right now,
03:56that's a lot of fun to handicap,
03:57a lot of fun to break down.
03:58And also, not a lot of big numbers there.
04:00You can have teams that are really closely contested
04:02all the way through from a wild card
04:03right up through to the division winners here.
04:05Certainly some fun to watch.
