00:00A new set of faces and a few familiar ones. More than 14 candidates vying for a place
00:08on the Alice Springs Town Council at the upcoming elections on August 23rd. Astor Hill is a
00:15lawyer and human rights advocate hoping to become mayor for the Greens.
00:19I've got longevity here. I'm so invested in this town. I see a future for myself and
00:24my kids here and because of that I'm always going to work really tirelessly for the town
00:28that I love. At the anti-election she came close to unseating the CLP's Joshua Burgoyne
00:33in the seat of Breitling. Mr Burgoyne's wife, Lisa Marie, also running for mayor and not
00:39concerned about any potential conflicts. I've had to deal with conflict of interest
00:44and confidentiality my entire working professional career. It's not something that's new to me
00:49and I've never had an issue so if I'm elected to council that will continue to not be an issue.
00:55If she's successful, Ms Burgoyne could serve alongside her father, Damian Ryan, who was
01:00mayor for 13 years and now wants to return as councillor. Real estate manager Ellie Melke
01:05is another hopeful and going all out. This time around I'm running for mayor only. It's all
01:11in. After 14 and a half years serving, being the longest serving councillor in the history
01:16of Alice Springs, which is fantastic, I think it's time for me to take on more responsibilities
01:20and I'm absolutely ready to be the mayor of Alice Springs. And then there's Larissa Ellis, who grew up in Alice Springs and is CEO of Women's Safety Services of Central
01:21Australia. I have been a social worker in town for the last 27 years and I'm keen to contribute to our community, to have a voice for our community and most importantly to listen to what community members want and need. As the incumbents prepare to leave the stage, these fresh faces hoping it's their time to shine.
01:28As the incumbents prepare to stay here to become the council, the 출 hosting staff, they say
01:33to the local residents of centre for our city to bail.
01:34So, now I'll be on the way to our country's hands to be able to be the mayor of Alice Springs and Ontario, and in fact we're out there, we have the unions for the schools.
01:38And I'm keen to be able to return to the local residents, including the neighbours here to the county where we're not going to be.
01:41So, we'll have a commencement. We'll see you back here, and there's the union centre of theife.
01:46As the incumbents prepare to leave the stage, these fresh faces hoping it's their time to shine.
