00:00AMBULANCES SPENT MORE THAN 7,000 HOURS PARKED OUTSIDE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENTS IN JULY
00:08BECAUSE HOSPITALS WERE TOO FULL TO TAKE MORE PATIENTS.
00:11Of course I'm extremely disappointed in the figures that are out today.
00:15How is it in a state as wealthy as Western Australia that we have such a crumbling health system?
00:23It's a perennial problem in which there are no quick fixes.
00:27Ramping is that end result of we can't get them through the front door because of these pressure points everywhere else.
00:34Doctors say the solution is at least 1,000 new hospital beds.
00:38We know that every hospital bed in the private sector, that every new media hotel that's been built are not full.
00:45There are beds there that could be used as hospital beds and we need to take advantage of that.
00:49On that idea and almost every other, the Minister's answer was the same.
00:53We are attacking this issue from every angle. Attacking it from every angle.
00:57We're continuing to attack this from every angle.
00:59The opposition says the government's taken its eye off health, distracted by a new racetrack at Burswood and a new film studio.
01:06Don't think about other projects. Think about health. Make that your job, your responsibility, until the people of Western Australia know that ambulance ramping is on the way down.
01:17The government says a number of initiatives are working, including its virtual ED program.
01:2274% of people who contacted an ambulance were able to receive more appropriate care without needing to go to an emergency department.
01:30That's contributed to a drop in less urgent presentations but hasn't offset a 15% increase in the most serious cases.
01:37People are more unwell because they're not getting the care they need at the right time.
01:42And that's the real problem here. This issue is a result of pressures right across the health system.
01:48From there not being enough bulk billed GP appointments to a shortage of aged care beds.
01:53There's a lot of work underway to try and fix all of that. The real question is how quickly it can bring relief.
02:00If you think of !
02:16What are 문 like to ask about Bon Patch?
02:22Right now?
02:24Thanks, as we've experienced an emergency need to focus.
