00:00Hello, I'm Greg Wright of the Yorkshire Post.
00:03The Supreme Court is to rule on Friday
00:06on whether millions of motorists could be entitled to compensation
00:09on their higher purchase agreements.
00:12In October last year, the Court of Appeal ruled
00:15that secret commissioner payments to car dealers
00:18as part of finance arrangements made before 2021
00:21without the motorist's fully informed consent were unlawful.
00:25The two lenders at the centre of this
00:28have taken the route to the Supreme Court
00:29telling a hearing in April the decision was an egregious error.
00:34The Financial Conduct Authority has also intervened in the case
00:37telling the UK's highest court that the Court of Appeal ruling goes too far
00:41while the motorists at the heart of this oppose the challenge.
