00:00So the Padres sweep, they're back all in again.
00:02They've made some good acquisitions, it would appear,
00:05getting a starting pitcher who's going to probably be better in San Diego
00:07than he was with the A's because of that ballpark.
00:10And then also, as we mentioned, getting Mason Miller,
00:12and they have him for now and for the future too.
00:14But the Mets followed suit here a little bit.
00:17It seems like building the pen is the thing to do,
00:19at least in the early part of the trade deadline,
00:21as the Mets get Tyler Rogers,
00:23who his numbers are just absolutely out of control this season,
00:261.80 earned run average.
00:28He's just so deadly out of that bullpen against right-handed hitters.
00:32And then Ryan Helsley, you know, once upon a time,
00:34a premier relief pitcher and closer in baseball.
00:37I know his numbers aren't as good this year as they are in the past,
00:40but, you know, the Mets don't need him necessarily to be Edwin Diaz.
00:43They just need him to lock down the seventh or eighth.
00:45I mean, it feels like bullpen arms are the hot topic, at least thus far.
00:51They are.
00:51And, you know, what the Mets did, they're getting that kind of 1-2,
00:55is, you know, to me, almost every bit as effective as what the Padres did
01:00or what the Phillies did.
01:01I mean, they already have a decent bullpen,
01:03and then you just add to it with some arms like that.
01:05So that was a fantastic pickup for them.
01:07I think what happened is some of these teams saw what these relievers were fetching
01:12and said, you know what, maybe we will, you know,
01:14if we're even, you know, slightly considering not doing it, you know what,
01:18it looks like it's a seller's market right now.
01:21So we're going to dangle our guy out there.
01:23And they've gotten, these teams have gotten some pretty good returns
01:26for relief pitchers this year.
01:28So I think that's why we're seeing the volume of, you know,
01:31solid relief pitchers moving teams that maybe you don't, you know,
01:34there's always a lot of relievers that move around the trade deadline,
01:37but these are some pretty notable guys.
01:39And I think it's working out for both teams that are making these deals.
