00:18To address the workforce challenges through employer-led skills development in high-growth
00:24industries, the Asian Development Bank, in partnership with the Technical Education Skills
00:30Development Authority, Department of Trade and Industry, and Philippine Trade Training
00:34Center Global MSME Academy, formally launched the SkillsUpneft Philippines Phase 2, or SUNPH2.
00:41This is a key strategy to ensure the workforce training directly responds to industry demands,
00:47equipping Filipino workers with skills that drive economic growth and business competitiveness.
00:53This event really, I think, reaffirms our shared commitment to equipping Filipino workers
00:58with the skills they need to thrive in a rapidly evolving job market.
01:02We do training for this, for the MSMEs so that they can really become better at their
01:09skills and better also, they learn more so that they can also work in other industries
01:17or industries that are thriving.
01:18Building on the success of the first phase, which provided over P15M in grants to five
01:24employer networks and trained over 600 workers, SUNPH2 aims to further scale up its impact
01:31by targeting additional sectors and regions critical to economic growth.
01:35The DTI initiated additional training programs, benefiting over 800 workers.
01:41For its second phase, SkillsUpneft Philippines will focus on six key sectors, each strategically
01:47matched to priority regions where they can drive economic growth and job creation.
01:52We need to make sure that specific industrial sectors are future-proofed, are up-skilled.
02:01Opportunities for re-skilling and up-skilling is provided to as many industry players as
02:08they possibly can, most importantly for medium, small and micro enterprises.
02:15Highlight of the event was the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement, signifying their
02:19commitment to advancing workforce development.
02:22This agreement will reinforce the collaborative effort to equip Filipino workers with the
02:27industry-relevant skills and boost MSME productivity.
02:31Truly, the sun comes out not tomorrow but today.
02:36We in PTTC are truly honored to be in the forefront of this significant program that
02:41will capitalize on the existing and to be acquired skills of the Filipino workforce.
02:47MSMEs interested in joining SunPH2 can register as part of an employer network and apply for
02:54training grants.
02:55Applications will be evaluated based on their potential to address workforce needs and enhance
03:01productivity.
