In a session on self-care and beauty, Dr. Sridevi Raichur, a leading dermatologist, stated, 'Skin care is always a marathon, not a sprint.' The discussion highlighted three new advances in aesthetic treatments: exosomes for improving skin quality, PDRN from salmon DNA which has 'proven to reduce your ageing by 20%', and new compositions of hyaluronic acid fillers. Dr. Raichur cautioned against skincare red flags, including the myth that 'natural' is always better, following social media trends without professional advice, and seeking treatment from unqualified practitioners. She advised that a simple night-time routine of cleansing, applying an active ingredient like retinol or Vitamin C, and moisturising is crucial. For working women, she stressed the importance of consistency and never going to bed without cleansing one's face.

00:00Well, what a powerful session we just had hearing from the women directly leading from the front line.
00:08This was just a reminder of power, strength and empowerment, right?
00:12And here as we shift gears on another facet of empowerment, I'm talking about self-care, self-expression and redefining beauty.
00:23So hi everyone. This session today is something that speaks to every woman in the hall.
00:30And because for most of us, you know, our skin care is more than just a beauty routine.
00:36It's about confidence. It's about self-respect and taking the moment to care for ourselves in the middle of everything else we juggle, right?
00:45So for which, you know, I'm very excited about this conversation, which is about beauty and, you know, glowing you up.
00:53So we are joined by someone who brings clarity, science and empathy to the world of skin care, Dr. Sridevi Raichur.
01:02Can we have a big round of applause, please?
01:04I know we are post-lunch, but I'm sure we can give a warm welcome to our guest speaker.
01:11Yeah. So she is a leading dermatologist known not just for her clinical expertise, but for helping people truly understand their skin and feel empowered in their choices.
01:22So in this session, we'll do a quick rapid-fire round.
01:28So first things first, Dr. Sridevi, I'll start with the advances in beauty.
01:32So what are the three, you know, advances?
01:36Because we all know beauty and skin care treatment, it's evolving each day.
01:40So what are the three advances that you would like to mention?
01:42First of all, thank you so much, Jyotiji, for such a warm welcome and the kind words that you have talked about me.
01:51This is such an interesting question, which is a cutting-edge question as well.
01:55So there are three basic advances which have happened in the field of aesthetics, which are newest right now.
02:03First is exosomes.
02:04Now exosomes are something like stem cell therapy, which when injected into your skin, it improves your skin texture, quality, your collagen synthesis is improved, your hydration gets better, and also it slows down your aging.
02:20So exosomes is the newest thing that has come into the technology right now in the field of aesthetics.
02:25The second one is PDRN.
02:28Now what is PDRN?
02:29It is polydeoxyribonucleotide.
02:31Now this is something which is derived from the genetics or the DNA of an aquagenic animal, that is salmon.
02:41And this has proven to reduce your aging by 20%.
02:45This can be injected or it can be used post-procedure, like after microneedling or any lasers, which is when it is incorporated into your skin, it always increases your collagen by at least 20 to 30%.
03:01So it also improves your hydration.
03:04And the third most cutting edge technology that has regained importance right now is hyaluronic acid fillers in a different composition right now, which improves your volume.
03:17It improves the plumpiness of your skin, it improves your hydration, and basically it improves your skin in general by reducing your pore size and also minimalizes your aging as much as possible.
03:31Well, that's interesting.
03:32Since we have a lot of younger women and overall women in the house today, so what are the common top three red flags that we should watch out for while, you know, selecting treatments, skin treatments and clinics?
03:45So, with the development of social media right now, there are a lot of red flags that have come up.
03:51The first thing that I would definitely mention is anything that is told to be natural may not always be right for your skin.
04:00So always be aware of something that anybody is mentioning as natural because sometimes even things like lemon juices, citrus things can also cause a lot of burns or caustic injuries to the skin, which we treat in our OPD on a daily basis.
04:14So, always go for a dermatologically tested product rather than going for natural things.
04:20The second thing, what can be a myth is that all the trends that are coming up on social media need not necessarily suit your type of skin.
04:32So always have a professional who is going to examine your skin and recognize your skin type and quality and then go for those products.
04:41The third thing is, whenever you go to somebody for a skincare routine or to get your skin examined, always look for the credentials of the person or the doctor.
04:54So, we do not get ourselves operated for some heart surgery by a non-cardiac surgeon, right?
05:00So, never trust your skin with somebody who is not a skin specialist.
05:05Always, whenever you are going for invasive techniques like lasers, transplants, hair transplants or any injections like Botox, fillers, always go to the specialist who is having the credential to treat your skin in a right way and who have learnt about it for at least 5 to 6 years.
05:23Great. Well, we have a lot of working women in the hall and we all juggle in careers and homes and everything in between.
05:34So, what is one night care skin tip that you would like to give to the women who are short on time?
05:40Okay. Okay. I get asked this question a lot. So, one night care routine because everybody is very busy by the end of the day. We just want to go to bed.
05:51So, the first thing I would definitely recommend is never go to bed with your day still on your face.
05:59Always and always cleanse your face, clear it just like you are clearing all your deadlines and schedules when you come back home.
06:07So, always use a gentle cleanser, cleanse your face and then apply any active.
06:14Now, by active, I would mean what is it that you are looking to get from your skin?
06:19Are you looking for anti-aging? Are you looking for anti-pigmentation? Or are you looking for hydration?
06:25So, if you are looking for anti-aging, you will have to start a retinol-based serum at night.
06:29If you are looking for hydration, maybe hyaluronic acid or niacinamide.
06:33And if you are looking for anti-pigmentation, you can start with something like arbutin or any other kojic acid extracts.
06:40So, keep your night routine very, very simple.
06:44Do not overburden your skin with a lot of products like you are standing in front of the mirror at night and applying layers and layers of things.
06:52That is not what the skin actually wants.
06:54So, what you will have to do is just wash your face or cleanse your face with a gentle cleanser.
06:59Apply an active, it can be retinol, niacinamide, arbutin or kojic acid and then moisturize.
07:06Because night, you will have to apply something that is going to work for your skin while you are resting.
07:12So, that is how your skin heals and also gets repaired.
07:15Great, I guess we all are going to follow this tonight for sure, if not more.
07:21Now, let me get a little personal.
07:23Before we wrap up, I would just like to know your skincare routine because we can see a very shining skin here on the stage.
07:30So, can you please give us some details about your own personal…
07:34Thank you so much for the compliment.
07:35So, my skincare routine, I generally try to keep it very simple.
07:41But what I would like to stress is, skincare requires consistency.
07:46You will have to be very consistent.
07:48It's like if you go to the gym, you will not see the result in a day or two.
07:53But when you stop going to the gym, you will see what result the gym had given to you.
07:57So, this is how your skincare routine has to be.
08:01My skincare routine starts with a cleanser in the morning.
08:04I would cleanse my skin to take off all the night products and I would definitely moisturize depending on what the season is.
08:13If there is a lot of humidity, then I may skip the moisturizer and I may go for an active ingredient like tranexamic acid.
08:21So, this is an anti-pigmentation serum which prepares my skin for all the tanning that is going to happen throughout the day.
08:29And then I shield it with a sunscreen or an SPF.
08:31Now, sunscreen is the most important thing which we take very lightly.
08:36But you have to apply the sunscreen whatever the weather is, whatever the temperature is outside.
08:42Whether you are in the space or in a bunker, you have to apply a sunscreen at least twice a day.
08:47So, I have two sunscreens, one at my office and one at my home.
08:50So, I keep repeating my sunscreen at least every three hours.
08:54And at night, I just cleanse my face again, double cleanse of course because of all the dirt and dust it has gone through.
09:00And I apply a vitamin C at night, a vitamin C serum and I alternate it with retinol for anti-aging.
09:09And then I shield it with a moisturizer for night.
09:10Amazing, amazing.
09:12I hope we all have saved this tip for all of us.
09:16So, thank you Dr. Shridevi.
09:18And this was really insightful.
09:21And I think, you know, everybody is leaving with a very clearer idea and a motivation to, you know, do some skincare routine.
09:28And tonight for sure, please do that night skincare routine that she has mentioned.
09:33And thank you so much.
09:34It was so pleasure having you here.
09:35There's one thing I would like to add.
09:37Skincare is always a marathon, not a sprint.
09:40So, always be consistent with your skincare because it represents you for life.
09:46Well, so that's the key, you know, takeaway from the session.
09:49Skin is always a marathon, not a sprint.
09:52So, thank you so much.
