00:57explain Andy um he is funny you tall not at all Jen is the nicest person I've
01:06ever met and you're really annoying as well really annoying Andy he thinks he's
01:11right about everything I've got my list ready oh god should I go
01:18we're both adventurous and love the outdoors and the Sun so we move to
01:22Australia the lifestyle for being near the beach near the water much rather it
01:29was drizzling like in the UK but it's not too bad your rain is less sideways
01:34than ours I'm less cold living on the beach has been awesome but we're just
01:40ready to try and buy here on the beaches so we're living in an apartment and the
01:44owners coming back and we've got to move and we only moved in here a year ago so
01:49we've decided we want our own place no landlords I can't wait to just be able
01:54to hang a photo if I want to or paint a wall so we can't wait to own our own
01:58place well at least try yeah my wish list would probably be trying to be as close
02:05to the beach as possible I don't want to look at a brick wall of the building
02:10next door I really really don't want that I'd love to have our own house my wish
02:19list would be light natural light I'd love like to see the beach if possible but
02:24highly unlikely a place that's already kind of done up and not too much work
02:30because I'm great at DIY we have no what no DIY skills the budget we're looking to spend
02:37probably about 900 to 950 doesn't go very far at all and it sounds like a lot of money but in
02:44Sydney anything under a million dollars it's probably unachievable to get a definitely a
02:47house so we're looking outside the box and we are thinking maybe of doing something called well I'm
02:54thinking about doing something called offshore living after living for anyone who doesn't know
03:00so you have to get there by a boat basically it's like an island or a bay or something like that you
03:06can't get to it from land and that is something that Jen isn't that keen on hmm can you drive a boat
03:15no yeah yeah that's gonna work well isn't it will Andy get his offshore house or will Jen talk him
03:27around on an apartment that's partially in the hands of their agent who has scoured Sydney's
03:33northern beaches for the best fit for our house hunters starting with an offshore house only accessible
03:40by water so you excited a little bit nervous the thought of living offshore would make me a
03:50little nervous too I mean can you even get takeaway delivered by a boat so this property is
03:56Elvina Bay meeting at the wharf Juliet's gonna take us on a little boat that's pretty cool the offshore
04:07commute begins with parking the car at Church Point Wharf before hopping on a boat which wouldn't be too
04:16fun with the weekly grocery shop hey howdy what spot welcome to paradise hop aboard oh my gosh
04:25this is pretty cool my concern is that it's offshore how do we get things over there the reality
04:38against the beauty because this is stunning I'm just a little bit like I think for Jen if she can think a
04:45little bit outside the box because it's not conventional you drive to the garage kind of living I think she's
04:52not gonna like it so we're gonna head over to Elvina Bay now it's on the edge of the National Park I've
04:59got a gorgeous little two-bedroom place with a beautiful outlook like you both like can't wait

05:23we're just gonna walk about 150 meters uphill around the corner and we'll be at the property

05:48gets a no from me it's always tough dealing with first home buyers in the northern beaches there's
05:56very little on offer under a million dollars but there's some hidden gems and this little one at Elvina

06:28it the living space is bigger and brighter than I thought but the walk-up imagine the logistics of
06:35it pouring down carrying stuff I'm just like red flags there all over that for me go on let's have a
06:41look at the lounge it's got a really cool fireplace that's so huge for us we love a fire that'll come
06:49in handy after all those stormy boat trips and the Sun's out so we should go and have a look at the
06:53balcony that sounds good to me okay oh my goodness this is just insane you're just not going to get

08:57I feel like it's totally you this yeah house hunters Andy and Jen have ventured offshore on the quest for an affordable house on the northern beaches of Sydney Andy desperately wants a house close to the water while Jen wants water views but no renos required

09:29and this is a gorgeous day what's it like on a not so gorgeous day
09:32their next stop is the beautiful boat access only Scotland Island
09:37so the next house I'm taking you to has two bedrooms it has the view it has potential but the best thing about it other than the fact that it's actually on an island is it is $800,000
09:52I promise okay wow we could afford a boat wouldn't matter okay and just this keyword of potential I'm interested to go and see what this actually is unless it's falling down when we see it this is so far I'm sold

11:32great sales pitch that yeah true the missing kitchen on a remote island only accessible by boat might be a
11:39bit too much for Jen I think Andy is sold on the location of this property he loves the whole idea of
11:46offshore living and the adventure it brings but and he's gonna have to sell this place hard for me to get on board this journey

12:55RK but this is what you're gonna get with our budget

13:42but the last house on the list is conveniently located next to one of the northern beaches best stretches of sand

13:59location-wise it's right next to the beach
14:03so this is top end it's $9.98 I mean it's past top end but we don't have to buy a boat

14:41I'll be all the happier when I find you the place of your dreams there's no doubt that the mainland is
14:54more convenient so I think Jenna will like the apartment she really likes the idea of close to
14:59the beach and she's a little bit apprehensive about the offshore lifestyle let's go have a look oh it looks
15:07wow oh my gosh wow this is really big much nicer than I thought it would be it's really been modernized yeah and it's so light
15:17which we didn't think an apartment it's true it's a tick in the box the location is just wow it is really lovely

15:34like it a little breakfast bench yeah so important to us can really imagine us having a party here
15:42entertaining and some guests not too many guests with Andy already planning the housewarming maybe
15:48he's willing to overlook the fact that it's not a house I was really surprised how much I liked it
15:53I probably didn't expect to like it as much as I did it was super clean super modern nice high ceilings
15:58really bright why don't you come and check out the bedrooms let's go have a look okay this is a good
16:08size yes cute yeah I like this one nice ceiling fan for when it gets warm the floors as well I'm enjoying
16:15the floor room for our wooden floor room great for the beach with Jen already imagining the beach days
16:22she'll have living here and he might have to get used to apartment living next room yeah let's do it after you
16:30okay yeah that's uh that's tiny bit disappointing yeah bathroom is tiny so that could be a little
16:47problem but modern and looking great like everything's there just maybe if we could move the walls that'd be
16:54perfect come on let's go around okay it's a little bit on the small side yes but it's got a covered roof yeah
17:07that's a bonus the view is disappointing it's four air conditioning units but the trees great tree so I think the
17:18place is the place is a good size and lots of positives about it it's not a house but it's so close to
17:25the beach yeah we'll have to weigh that up I can tell that Jenny really likes this apartment
17:31it's taking most of her boxes she loves the location and I can see us potentially living here but bathroom
17:40was tiny it was really tiny the balcony I don't think it's great view wasn't as nice as I would
17:48like what this offers is is pretty amazing like the location is just so close to the beach it's that
17:57location yeah it is it is a huge plus yeah I can see myself living here it's lovely it's decision time

18:21move from England to Australia house hunters Andy and Jen are ready to put down roots and buy a home on
18:27Sydney's northern beaches big decision to make but they have very different ideas on what they want in a
18:34home Andy wants to explore the option of offshore living in order to afford a house near the water
18:40while Jen is keen on a conveniently located apartment with no renovations needed the treehouse Albina Bay I
18:52mean it's a treehouse how exciting is that straight away yeah yeah it was a new beautiful area yeah
18:59absolutely stunning yeah the bathroom is definitely going to need some reno work so once you think
19:05about the boat that we have to buy and then all the work that's going to be done up we don't even know
19:10what that price point is actually going to end on but that balcony is huge and the view is amazing I mean I
19:16can't deny that just think it's just gonna be a lot so the Scotland Island fixer-wipper that one for me
19:26though beautiful location close to water yeah love that but it is a complete reno and I just don't know
19:35whether we have got the skills for all of that but it's within budget we'd be able to put our stamp on
19:41it it's a commute to everything and we need a boat to get there and we can't drive a boat we don't have
19:47a boat license and the distance from our community it's just not as practical you remember that view as
19:55well that view should be a well over a million dollars and it's 800k it's a wow view so the
20:05apartment I thought location was we couldn't have asked for better that location right next to the
20:11beach near our community like that was pretty awesome it's lovely and light and that's like a big
20:17tick there's an apartment so it's not a house which is was the dream it was top end of our budget
20:23the view from the balcony I didn't love but it's so close to the beach that is amazing being able
20:30to walk to the beach every day that's a massive plus that's gonna be such a bonus for us in our
20:34lifestyle we're essentially comparing a house within an apartment hard to decide between the
20:42two it's a big decision doing offshore living this is our future in Australia will Andy get his boat
20:48licence and put an offer in on the Elvina Bay treehouse or the well-priced Scotland Island
20:55cabin or will Jen get to live the easy boat-free life in her apartment by the beach check you out
21:03Mr Skipper I need a captain's hat we can sort that yeah we've started living our life offshore we got the
21:11treehouse we got it for an absolute bargain yeah 8.50 in the end someone else dropped out last
21:19minute got lucky we started living our life offshore it's a lot but it's an adventure we're making it
21:26work we're loving having a boat I can almost drive it how's that um yeah interesting wet feet it's all
21:34good oh easy it is getting better each day so living here we've had sacrifice the community like
21:44being close to our friends and that commute I knew it wasn't gonna be easy when we chose this place
21:52you think it's worth it yeah do you I'll tell you in about half an hour pretty happy with this oh my
22:00gosh this is incredible can't wait full Sun head out on the soaps and kayaks yeah getting on that
22:06water with some kayaks would be awesome yeah a hundred percent could not imagine living in an
22:11apartment now there's nothing about that life I miss this is amazing being in the jungle being our
22:18own homeowners not having to answer to anybody else yeah I've got no neighbors above no neighbors
