01:50that's where the real sparring starts so currently we're living in a one-bedroom apartment it's nice
01:58but you're crammed in each other's space all the time when we do come home sometimes I might have

02:09batteries I absolutely love him to death but let's be real he's my husband and I see him 24 7 yeah
02:15maybe so in the interest of sanity they're calling timeout and want to buy a retreat out west in country
02:24New South Wales we're looking for a weekender where we can have family and friends but be completely shut
02:30off from everything else I'm looking for a place where I can get away from a fight I'd love to have some
02:37like water gotta be a dam or river or something a nice panoramic view I love a bit of mountain not
02:45too much maintenance wanted to be somewhere I could just relax I would love a romantic fireplace I
02:51definitely want some fruit trees and a large kitchen he loves to eat and so do I can't see I'm tongan man
02:58so our budget 1.2 to 1.5 would be the sweet spot if it was up to me you know I would spend as much as
03:09we need to just to get away from each other and get some get some peace and quiet you can't put a price
03:18on sanity but in this case one and a half million will have to do we're heading west to the Canimbla
03:25Valley one hour from the historic city of Bathurst and swapping city hipsters for country hoppers

03:39Lomu and Afer have very different wish lists but their agent Christy has found a gem that could suit
03:48them both today I'll be showing Afer and Lomu a property in the Canimbla Valley has river frontage
03:54and it's on 20 acres we've established orchard okay so I think this is the entrance yeah oh this is
04:05massive house number one the riverside escape on the market at the top of their budget for 1.495
04:16million oh my gosh that just means a lot of work gee well yeah but it's got like vineyards oh look
04:30there's fruit trees okay I'm like overwhelmed right now and she hasn't even gone out of the car yet
04:38oh wow hi guys how are you today welcome to this property it is on 21 acres four bedrooms two bathrooms
04:51and it has river frontage oh wow it's even better for me oh wow wow this is a massive space

05:13with this much space they could go days without having to talk to each other this is the master
05:21bedroom oh wow I don't know about the colors but yeah yeah the colors are a bit and we started so well

05:48like the spa gives it that like country feel yeah no no we need to do like a reno this is I'm not doing
05:59reno's because I know I'm gonna have to do all the work judging by that face you do not have a
06:06choice and the kitchen's not much better wow definitely my spot hey it's really spacious but
06:16a bit too much timber for me kitchen's really dated it looks like something out of a 90s horror show
06:23I love it it gives it the country feel the wood is awesome there's too much too much for me
06:30now Afa does like wood just outside in the ground preferably with fruit attached
06:39so you can see the established fruit orchard oh this is beautiful
06:43nice peaches pears and there's something out here that should keep Lomu very happy
06:52yeah there's trout in the river oh yeah there's actually even better because I love fishing
06:57and this view is amazing yeah but it is still a lot of land
07:03I did want a weekend where I could just get away and just relax but the land's going to be a lot of work
07:08it's 20 acres like if you think about it like I've got to go buy a tractor for the land I'm going to
07:13have to work the whole time so I'm not really going to have a break and I came here to have a weekend
07:17away I don't know if I want to die on the tractor yeah I get it like there's a lot of land here but
07:24you've got a 200 meter water frontage at the river there's a lot of things to consider here because
07:30there's a lot of pros and cons
07:33but balancing both their dreams is going to be tricky
07:37I'm up for a project DIY yeah see me I don't want to do any work

07:49gym owners Lomu and Afa are on the hunt for a weekend retreat
07:54armed with one and a half million they're desperate to escape city chaos and each other
08:02the house we're seeing now is on six acres yeah so I'm curious to know like whether or not
08:08it'll have fruit trees
08:11Afa dreams of an orchard a farmhouse kitchen and an open fire but Lomu just wants to relax
08:18so what was this six acres yeah so I think it's going to be a lot more manageable for us yeah
08:24because I really don't want to do any work his dream is to look at a view or chill by the water
08:32the land on the last place was too big for Lomu but this next property is much smaller so could it be the one
08:40oh it's one story wow I love land is good too hey house number two the hobby farm list price 1.35 million
08:56and look it's got like really nice established trees yeah it looks like apples cherries oh my gosh

09:53this is big i like it i love it looks like the kitchen's a winner but is there enough space for
10:00visiting family this is very cozy yeah it is oh nice it's a little bit small but it's cozy like
10:12it's tiny as it's good for a guest bedroom at least i like it shove the guests in a shoe box and they
10:21won't outstay their welcome but lomu and dayfa need their creature comforts
10:30so this must be the master bedroom because it's got the double windows
10:34views great yeah but the space it is a bit tiny there's going to be a bit of mission trying to get
10:40around in here and if they thought that was small okay so this is interesting it's very um very retro
10:54there's a sink and there's a bathtub next door is shower shower so we're gonna have to like completely
11:02gut it out bathrooms are a bit of a pickle but i am not afraid of a diy job yeah but is it gonna be
11:09worth our time at least the land's low maintenance for lomu with space to kick back and take in the
11:18view yeah right look at this great outdoor area here for all my guests barbecue here good view nice
11:29and at 1.35 million it's under budget what's not to love it ticks so many things off my wish list like
11:37we've got the fireplace i've got established fruit trees and the kitchen is the best feature of the
11:43house yeah there's a dam which i'm happy with manageable land the only thing is with the bathrooms
11:50um i'm i'm up for a project diy i don't want to do any work remember i came here for a weekend away
11:57not to do work it's something to consider but there's no i'm not considering it
12:07but will lomu's high expectations my that is deep yo finally be met this is fantastic
12:14definitely a long way from the city lomu and afa are back on the road to view their final country
12:25retreat these are some pretty steep hills they're climbing high above the valley into mountain goat
12:33country mate that is steep y'all but this next house is worth it so this property is a very unique
12:44property it's on top of a hill that has the most incredible 360 degree views that's a big tick on
12:51lomu's list i hope he's packed his later hosen because this is straight out of the sound of music

14:13are a feast for lomu's eyes but will afer's kitchen serve up the goods look it's not as big as i
14:19thought yeah but i could see myself cooking here like with these views these views are beautiful
14:25so it does have a really large walk-in pantry
14:31wow yeah it's good definitely see myself in there if i'm ever lost you know where i'm at
14:37if it's solitude you're after lomu there's another hidey hole that's great after pantry snacking
14:47what's in there it's a sauna on away oh my gosh get out that's like a proper swiss chalet
14:56welcome to europe mate the sauna is just a big plus i see myself here relaxing having the time of my life
15:04you'll be like naked in the corner where's lomu in the sauna so what's that oh that would be the
15:14main bedroom then oh yeah this is the master bedroom wow what a view i can sit on that balcony
15:21and take it in a moment there's a lot of timber happening that orange timber look i don't know man
15:28like that's you're colorblind we'd have to paint it brown no it's like orange we've got to paint
15:36something over at the top of it it's a bit it's a bit much but we'll all be forgiven when afer steps
15:43outside because these hills are alive with potential anyone for a yodel oh my goodness this is amazing
15:53don't go wrong with the view right you could live here just purely on the view is this all for the
16:02gardens though there's no fruit trees or no it's all very native and just natural it's low maintenance
16:09low maintenance music to lomu's ears but it does come at a cost is there like a river any water around
16:18here on this particular property there is no river access but the river is only a short drive away
16:24there's a water tank for you yeah that's all right i'll just go attach myself to the water tank
16:31this place doesn't have everything they want but it's under budget at 1.35 million so there's still
16:38plenty of money to fix up the faults because views like this are worth making sacrifices for
16:45people i really love it i honestly i love the view i don't think we could ever beat a view like this
16:52like we can establish some new trees or something and there is a sauna which i can substitute for my
16:58water but it will take a bit of getting used to this one's right up there yeah it's going to be hard
17:03to top this but there's a few things that we need to take out of our wish lists to consider it yeah
17:09it's gloves off honestly i could see myself living there as lomu and aifa go toe-to-toe for their
17:18perfect country retreat who's gonna do the wet
17:29lomu and aifa are about to pick a country escape
17:32aifa's dream is a big kitchen fruit trees and a fireplace but lomu wants low maintenance
17:41a place to relax with water and views so far there's only one thing they can agree on
17:48you know who wears the pants no i don't wear the pants but like i do make smart suggestions
18:02i really hope you've got your popcorn this could get interesting
18:06so so a lot of things to consider riverside escape that was a dream come true
18:15when we walked through those fruit trees and the vineyards honestly i could see myself living there
18:19and had that gorgeous fireplace with that really nice character as well
18:23i actually like the bathroom i like the old cottage feel i'm not cleaning that spa mate
18:28there is no chance like we need to fix that bathroom fix that kitchen we're at the max budget
18:35though so we'd have to do that ourselves yeah i'm definitely not doing that see my concern is there's
18:41a lot of land and you know what that means who's going to do the work i don't want to be cutting
18:46grass on the weekend the only saving grace which i'm going to give a positive is the river the water
18:52front was awesome if you get the water you're totally fine with mowing some lawns
18:58what about the hobby farm i really like all those different types of fruit trees
19:03that fireplace was gorgeous and it had the water feature for you so it's very manageable six acres
19:10i don't have to do much work the place is definitely the weekend vibes as a weekender
19:14it works perfectly for us but it's a little bit cozy if we have more than a few friends over where
19:21do we put them all yeah the bathroom is tight we're gonna have to do the works on that mate
19:27you're gonna make me do the work yeah and then you're gonna love it after
19:33what do you think about the swiss chalet
19:34i liked it because it was on elevator land you got the whole view of the hills the wrong
19:39that view was gorgeous that fireplace was beautiful as well but those bedrooms timber
19:45everywhere we'd have to paint it all paint it all what do you mean yeah like there was timber
19:49everywhere you love that i love timber the other thing for me is that there was absolutely nothing
19:54on the land there were no trees absolutely nothing there and there's no water so no water features
20:00uh but you got a sauna though the sauna was a bonus so i could i could deal with that
20:05but for that view honestly could even out the playing field it really could
20:12choosing their goldilocks house is going to be tough
20:16will it be the sprawling riverside escape with the enormous orchard for afer
20:22will it be the compact hobby farm with low maintenance land for lomu
20:25or will the swiss chalet with its knockout views be just right for both of them
20:36yeah baby we bought a house so we ended up buying the riverside escape two beautiful living spaces
20:44fireplace you can't say no to these fruit trees what more can you ask for yeah honestly
20:50i know i was the guy that was so nego about the land yeah i'm actually the first thing i've done
20:54who's gone out and worked the land you'll never see me in the house see he loved it i i wake up and
21:03i lose him because he's out in the grounds on a tractor who would have known hello it's the best
21:10place to come to it's absolutely gorgeous yeah and the river the river's a plus but for me i'm gonna admit
