00:01Bursatu leader Badril Hisham Shaharin, better known as Cheh Gubart, has been arrested by police after reports were lodged against him following the Turun Anwar rally last Saturday.
00:11Badril's lawyer Rafik Rashid Ali confirmed that his client was arrested at around 2.30pm today.
00:18Rafik said the arrest was unnecessary as Badril had already agreed to meet the investigating officer at Bukit Aman tomorrow,
00:25adding that the authorities' action was regrettable especially since there were no untoward incidents during the Turun Anwar rally.
00:34In a Facebook post, Badril had said police had informed him that he was under investigation.
00:39He said he was being probed under Section 4, Sub 1 of the Sedition Act 1948, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, and Section 504 of the Penal Code.
00:50He said he is also being investigated under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.
00:57Badril is scheduled to present himself at Bukit Aman tomorrow, followed by a press conference on the matter.
