00:01Previously on Project Runway...
00:03You will be collaborating with one of these incredibly talented students.
00:07That work of art will serve as the inspiration for an avant-garde look.
00:11Did you see my little heart to my mom?
00:13I lost my mom two years ago.
00:15I feel by carving this into the skirt that she may be gone, but doesn't mean that the love is gone.
00:22Becky, if you're tired, take a nap, because I don't have time for it. I'll do it myself.
00:27Are you going to be long, Bert?
00:29Where does it say on this machine that you're using it?
00:32Watch your language with me, please. Drop dead.
00:34He doesn't intimidate me. I'm sort of embarrassed for himself.
00:37Bert's always mumbling things under his breath.
00:44I still love that you're colorblind and you do beautiful things with color.
00:48Anthony Ryan, you're the winner of this challenge.
00:53I don't think it's avant-garde.
00:55She looks like a Victorian cocktail waitress in Las Vegas.
00:58Josh, you're out for the second time.
01:01This.
01:02This.
01:03This.
01:04This.
01:05This is the search for the next big fashion designer.
01:07It's about style.
01:08Fashion.
01:09Attitude.
01:10Three finalists.
01:11And one winner.
01:12This is for real.
01:13Be good.
01:14Be great.
01:15This is Project Runway.
01:17The winner of Project Runway will receive $100,000 from Laurel Paris to start their own line.
01:22The fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine.
01:24A $50,000 technology suite from HP and Intel to enable their creativity and run their business.
01:30And the opportunity to design and sell an exclusive collection on PiperLime.com.
01:34The model paired with the winner of Project Runway will receive a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine and $25,000 from Laurel Paris Studio Secrets Professional.
01:49What are your expectations for today?
01:51I have a feeling something interesting.
01:54And I'm like, oh, I got immunity.
01:57But at the same time, I want to win again.
02:01It's back to us without Josh C, basically.
02:04I've been in the top.
02:05I've never been in the bottom.
02:07Having not won anything yet, there's a little bit more pressure.
02:10Waking up on the fact that I came in second for the avant-garde challenge.
02:15It's still pissing the out of me.
02:17I was really upset this morning.
02:19The avant-garde challenge should have been mine.
02:22But I just need to be focused on the end goal, which is making it to Lincoln Center.
02:26Maybe this one will be as much fun.
02:28We'll see what happens.
02:30Ready?
02:32You ready, Oliver?
02:40Hello.
02:41Hi.
02:42For this challenge, you will be working in two teams of five.
02:51Oh.
02:52Oh, boy.
02:53This time, there will be no team leaders.
02:56You will all need to work together as a group to make decisions.
03:00Anthony Ryan, you were the winner of the last challenge, which means you get to choose your
03:03first team member to come up on the runway.
03:07Who is really going to compliment my aesthetic?
03:11I'm going to have to go with Anya.
03:14Yay.
03:18Now I'm going to choose the first person from the other team.
03:21Joshua.
03:23Does that mean I get to be the leader or I have to work with him?
03:25There are no leaders, but you get to choose first.
03:28Joshua M. has been bossy and bullies people he thinks he can believe.
03:34I'm going to snap.
03:37I will start with Laura.
03:41I'd like to choose the victim.
03:46Kim.
03:47I don't want her to pick me.
03:49You have to deal with attitudes and stuff.
03:54Oliver.
03:57Becky.
03:58Oh, goody.
03:59Me and Josh on the team again.
04:00Not looking forward to it.
04:02Oliver, you get to choose the next person on your team.
04:05I think we pick Brian.
04:11We are left with Bert.
04:13Bert, you're always the last one.
04:14It feels familiar.
04:15I feel bad.
04:17There's just not a group of people that I really would enjoy working with on teams.
04:20Laura and Josh, they're very cliquish.
04:22It's very sort of elementary school.
04:24That means you're on this team, Bert.
04:25Come on.
04:26That's the madness.
04:28Did you say that sucks?
04:29No, I didn't say it.
04:31I'm hearing things.
04:32There's Bert just waiting to annoy the crap out of me.
04:35So are you happy with your team?
04:36Yeah.
04:37Yeah.
04:38I could not be happier.
04:40Are you guys happy over here?
04:42Josh, Bert, Becky, all on one team.
04:46That is a disaster.
04:47Just waiting to happen.
04:49Let's get out of here.
04:50Yeah.
04:51Come on, designers.
04:52You got work to do.
04:56Good morning, designers.
04:57May I ask you to gather round, please?
05:01As you can see, you each have an HP TouchSmart desktop at your workspace.
05:05So you probably correctly deduced that this is the HP and Intel challenge.
05:09It's very innovative and it provides you with an opportunity to create a textile design from scratch.
05:16I have been waiting for this challenge.
05:18I used to be in graphic design, so I love the idea of making my own prints.
05:21Each team will create a five-look collection and design and produce a full-fledged fashion show featuring that collection.
05:30What does that mean?
05:31You will be creating a video to serve as a backdrop for your show.
05:35You'll be choosing music.
05:37You do have two days for this challenge.
05:39At least three looks must contain the textile designs and they need to be prominent.
05:46It's music, video, runway, our own print.
05:50All of that in two days.
05:52And we have to look like we got our shit together.
05:54We are very proud to be working with HP and Intel and they have provided you with all the technology that you need to fully realize your vision.
06:03In order to help you understand this process, HP and Intel have invited a special guest to give you advice.
06:10Who does thunk? Who does thunk?
06:18Welcome Betsy Johnson.
06:20I'm kind of like Betsy Johnson and Oscar de la Renta's love child if they were to have a baby.
06:25I'd love to have you share with the designers your creative process.
06:28I need a theme.
06:29I gotta come up with the idea before anything.
06:32So there's a narrative that you're considering.
06:34To me, it starts with the girl.
06:37Is she tough?
06:38Is she sexy?
06:39What is she walking to?
06:40Because music is the message.
06:42So you have to think of the whole package.
06:44Desire is we have a special treat.
06:46Betsy's show is here for you to see.
06:48Whoa!
06:49Really scary.
06:50I love your pigtails.
06:53This was shot crossing the Brooklyn Bridge.
06:56It's really inspiring and my wheels start turning.
06:59It's a big, big opportunity.
07:01And it's a big, big challenge.
07:04The cartwheel.
07:05This is the good cartwheel.
07:06Whoa!
07:10You gotta stand for something.
07:12Being cooperative, being strong is the true key.
07:16You have to throw away me, me, me.
07:19Yeah, a little bit of ego.
07:20And go for the team.
07:21Good luck to you all.
07:23And thanks, HP and Intel people as well.
07:26We love you, Betsy.
07:28I love you, Betsy.
07:29Thank you so much.
07:30I'm pretty pumped up.
07:31I think we can do this.
07:32You're going to meet as a team for 30 minutes.
07:36Then you will have 45 minutes at your HP TouchSmart desktop
07:40to develop your textile design.
07:42We will be sending the digital files to Dynamics.
07:46You will see it tomorrow.
07:47Use your 30 minutes well.
07:50What are you guys like?
07:52Have you ever heard of an inkblot test?
07:54You've got all these different...
07:56Oh, yeah.
07:57...black and white.
07:58Psychologipus.
07:59Yeah, the Psychologipus.
08:00And it's so beautiful.
08:01Oh, that's actually cool.
08:02So we have Village People.
08:03We have C, Amoeba, High End, and we have trains and clocks.
08:06Do you want to vote, Josh?
08:07I mean, probably clocks.
08:09As far as color scheme or whatever that we want to try to stay in for the clocks, I love
08:14a good black and white.
08:15Do we want to throw up ColourPop in there somewhere?
08:17We all have to sit down and make a print, so put all the gem color you want on it.
08:21What is the inspiration for that direction?
08:24We need a team name.
08:25That direction.
08:26We need a team name.
08:31Some of my other team members are already working on designs specifically inspired by
08:37our idea.
08:38I just want to look at it on a very graphic level and let it flow from there.
08:43We kind of decided on a time and clocks theme, so I design a print with cogs and wheels.
08:51The fabric design that I am working on are basically old fashioned pocket watches that
08:57a conductor would have used on a train.
08:59Are we going to try to do 10 yards of one print or are we going to try to do...
09:03I think we should just stick with black and white hair.
09:05The fact that I haven't won a challenge I think makes my other team members look at
09:10me in a way that they have to make sure that I can design.
09:14It's just frustrating.
09:15This is like what the fabric will look like when we go like this.
09:19And it'll actually come out to be a scale like this.
09:22The other prints seem a little casual in comparison to the sharpness of my print.
09:28We can't come up with cohesive anything, so we just pick.
09:34Bart, did you print any of yours out?
09:35I'm printing something in there, but I'm just waiting.
09:37Should we vote on what we feel should be the most represented print?
09:41I want my prints to contribute to the design group, so I'm pulling my weight.
09:46Mine, for some reason, aren't printing.
09:48I mean, I'd like to use this one.
09:50Okay.
09:51I love this, though, too, so I think you should get it.
09:533-5.
09:543-5.
09:55Okay.
09:563-5.
09:57Too much for my friggin' clocks.
09:58So much for your what?
09:59Box.
10:00Didn't get printed.
10:01What did he say?
10:02I feel people that have dirty mouths, they're not intelligent.
10:05Bert, is this the undertones that people are talking about on the runway, where you walk
10:10away and say things under your breath?
10:11No, that's...
10:12Because I will.
10:13Josh, don't go there.
10:14I will not stand for it.
10:15Josh, what I was saying was...
10:16I'm asking you if this is how it's gonna be for the next two days, because I will not
10:20have it, Bert.
10:21Don't get close to me.
10:22Can you let me finish?
10:23I need you to back up.
10:24Coming up on Project Runway.
10:26Put the clock in the fabric.
10:28You're way overreacting.
10:29I'm about to forfeit this whole thing, because I'm not about to deal with him.
10:32I don't know how we're gonna pull it together.
10:36I'm asking you if this is how it's gonna be for the next two days, because I will not
10:40have it, Bert.
10:41Can you let me...
10:42Don't get close to me.
10:43Can you let me finish?
10:44I need you to back up.
10:45What I was saying was, so much for the artwork that didn't get printed.
10:47No, you used a swear word, and I don't think that there's swearing necessary.
10:49I did not use a swear word.
10:50I said so much for the clock.
10:52Put the clock in the fabric.
10:54I want a yard of his clock.
10:55Okay, you are ridiculous.
10:56If you're gonna act, Josh.
10:57No, you knew this was gonna happen.
10:59He woke up.
11:00On it all.
11:01He's not happy today.
11:02Bert, put a yard of it in there.
11:03I don't want it.
11:04And you gotta, like, have an attitude that your printer wasn't working.
11:07I think this looks great, guys.
11:09I think it's a good balance of proportions and line.
11:11No, put Bert's in there, because I'm not gonna hear it for the next two days.
11:14Guys, you are overreacting to something I said regarding...
11:16You just said.
11:17What did you just say as you walked away?
11:18I said, so much for my clocks, meaning that I didn't get a chance...
11:21So much for your what clocks?
11:22My clocks?
11:23I don't believe in...
11:24Your what clocks?
11:25Go back to...
11:26You guys, we gotta pull it together here.
11:29I'm about to forfeit this whole thing, because I'm not about to deal with him.
11:33Okay, and then I'm getting dye, fabric paint, a thread.
11:37The challenge is to create a print with the HP TouchSmart, and then the most exciting thing
11:42is that it's creating a whole fashion show by ourselves with video background.
11:46So some of us are going to mood, and some of us are going out to do the video.
11:51Do you guys have any visions for this video?
11:53What I'm hoping we can get is some inner workings of a big clock.
11:56I don't know if that's possible.
11:57That's what...
11:58Right.
11:59Just clocks isn't a concept.
12:01Like, what are we trying to do here?
12:02I don't know.
12:03It still has to have a common thread.
12:05Just the girl that's on the move.
12:07On the move.
12:08At this point, the team is so disjointed that...
12:10I don't know how we're gonna pull it together.
12:12All right, let's go.
12:13Go.
12:14Make the cohesive level.
12:15What else is chaotic than Times Square?
12:16A lot of people walking around, and there's just so much happening there.
12:30Oh, my God.
12:31This is chaos.
12:32This is chaos.
12:33Yeah, we wanted people, we got people.
12:35Sit in the ground.
12:41We have 30 minutes at Mood, so we don't have much time.
12:45Where's yours fabric?
12:47Hurry, hurry, hurry.
12:48Thank you so much.
12:50So why don't you walk this way towards me?
12:52Towards you?
12:53Okay.
12:53Josh has an idea of making this video.
12:56You're changing it.
12:56We're using Piper Lime shoes with me,
12:59jumping in and out of cabs.
13:00It's metropolitan.
13:01It's New York City.
13:03This woman that's on the go, she's always late,
13:05but she always looks amazing.
13:15Nuts and bolts?
13:16Yes.
13:17Why don't you take a look at some of it?
13:19We've got great, all these clocks.
13:21Hopefully it can be some great footage
13:22that can really develop this collection
13:24and really give it a great cohesion.
13:26Do you want to start moving some of the cabs
13:27in between the clocks?
13:28Okay.
13:29Let's see what happens.
13:30Oh, this is exciting.
13:31Oh, yeah.
13:33Loving that.
13:34Oh, that's really nice, all the texture of that.
13:37Yeah, this is really cool.
13:38This is the idea that I had.
13:40You know when you have kaleidoscope images?
13:42So they're symmetrical.
13:44So it'll be exactly the same as the inkblot,
13:46but it'll be moving.
13:47That is cool.
13:48See, and if we mirrored that...
13:50Anya has this great idea.
13:51So it's not going to be too much of a distraction up there,
13:54but just a killer video to everything
13:58that we're putting down the runway.
14:00Back to work.
14:01Ah, son of a...
14:06That looks gorgeous.
14:08Yeah, that's going to be cool.
14:10Before we go, I'd like to make a public service announcement
14:14to everyone in the room, especially Bert.
14:17I would like to apologize for my insanity this morning.
14:24There's no excuses.
14:26And it was not the way to start off a team challenge.
14:29So I apologize to my team specifically,
14:32Becky, Laura, and Kim, and to the other team members.
14:35But Bert, I do apologize.
14:36Okay, thank you.
14:37And I hope that we can move forward
14:39and show a great collection.
14:41Handshake.
14:42Or a hug.
14:43Yeah, okay.
14:44Josh could have come to me personally to apologize
14:46without the other designers in the room.
14:48I have a slight suspicion he's maybe backtracking a bit
14:51and wanting to cover himself when we go on the runway,
14:53but that's Josh.
14:54Regardless of how he did it, he did it,
14:56and that's the most important thing.
14:57All right, let's get out of here.
14:59It's time to go to bed.
15:00Come on, come on.
15:01Bye, Tress.
15:13I want to see my fabric.
15:14Check it out.
15:15Oh, look at my fabric.
15:17I'm excited about this.
15:18Oh, my God.
15:19Good.
15:20Our prints are on the table.
15:22My graffiti, Becky's clock, and then Laura's number print.
15:27How cool is that to see a print that you did on the computer?
15:30That's really cool.
15:32I think we chose Wild Guys.
15:33Yeah.
15:34Oh, my God.
15:35This is so pretty.
15:36Love, love, love.
15:38I love our textiles.
15:39All three of them really work well together.
15:41Some of our prints are stronger than the other teams.
15:44I think ours are pretty dramatic,
15:45and they look great on the stage.
15:46Are you going to get the pants done, though?
15:51No, I have to make my pants, but I can do it, like, later.
15:54Later.
15:55Later.
15:56Cute skirt.
16:00Just have to make sure it fits really good.
16:02So, Becky.
16:03So, Laura.
16:04So, Laura, here's what I'm just thinking about the skirt with the numbers.
16:08Such a plain skirt, matte fabric, might read math teacher.
16:16The bold system, to me, I mean, I'm not an under team, but I'm just going to say, is a
16:21much stronger print than the numbers.
16:23We have plenty of the fabric.
16:25I could do one of each, and we could see.
16:27Hello, design teams.
16:28Hey, Tim.
16:29I am here to check in with you.
16:31Well, you guys look happy.
16:33We're all responding well to this whole idea of the inkblot test, the test that...
16:37Good.
16:38So, it should look like a Rorschach test.
16:39Yes.
16:40Exactly.
16:41And we like the idea, you know, working with black and white.
16:43Very graphic.
16:44It's very evident.
16:45There's a huge amount of cohesion.
16:47It was collaborative.
16:48Oh, yeah.
16:49Very.
16:50I can tell by your body language and how you're communicating with each other.
16:53I can tell.
16:54Thank you all.
16:55Thank you, Tim.
16:56Team Nuts and Bolts.
16:57Hi, Tim.
16:58Hi, Tim.
16:59Hi.
17:00Talk to me, please.
17:01We took the actual literal sense of a clock, I guess.
17:04Uh-huh.
17:05I decided to use the numbers print.
17:06I really like the sense of humor it has.
17:07I made this little jacket with an articulated elbow.
17:10I'm troubled by the scale of the print.
17:14I think that skirt looks cheap.
17:16What's going on elsewhere?
17:18So, I'm just working on this jacket with, like, you know, a great front to it.
17:22And, you know, it extends down the back.
17:24And then I have the smaller, the gear print underneath.
17:27And what's going underneath the top?
17:29Um.
17:32Underneath the jacket?
17:33Yeah.
17:34A top.
17:35I'm basically fumbling through my words with Tim.
17:38It frightens me because I can tell he's frightened as well.
17:41No, I'm just, I'm talking about this textile.
17:43So, if anything, I might try to throw it in as a top to mine.
17:47The thought of putting that particular textile under the sleek, pristine cleanness of that jacket gives me the hives.
17:56Part of the reason there isn't more of a sense of cohesion in this collection is that there isn't more cohesion among the five of you.
18:02You need to help each other.
18:04And you have so many good things happening right now.
18:07But just together.
18:08They've got to be together.
18:09Yeah.
18:10All right, everybody.
18:11Okay, cool.
18:12Thank you, Tim.
18:14As soon as always.
18:16Okay.
18:17Hello.
18:18Dad, how are you?
18:22I'm good.
18:23How are you doing?
18:24I'm good.
18:26I'm good.
18:27Yeah?
18:28Yeah.
18:29You sure?
18:30It's just the past couple days have, you know, been a little difficult with mom's birthday and everything like that, so.
18:37I know.
18:38I know.
18:39It definitely got to a point where I really, you know, miss her and wish she was still here, so.
18:46Yeah.
18:47Well, we all do.
18:48That's for sure.
18:49You know, my mom passed two years ago, and, um.
19:07You know, I wasn't able to make it back from New York to see my mom by last time.
19:13I knew that this was all worth it.
19:15I'm a friend.
19:16I'm a friend.
19:17I want to get it on you because we're all going to look at each other to fit.
19:34Oh, it fits you perfect.
19:37Cool, good length on the sleeve.
19:40That was my idea, covering this boning.
19:43I see what you're saying.
19:44I didn't mind so much that it...
19:46It's like, what do you expect?
19:48You were already...
19:48The princess line would have been worse.
19:50I think a princess would have cut it up even more.
19:53Where do we stand on the pant?
19:55Huh?
19:55The pant.
19:58What the what?
19:59Have we started on the pant?
20:01Oliver is concentrating way too much on this jacket.
20:04I'm going to grab that jacket away from him,
20:06and I'm going to make him do the pants before that jacket gets done.
20:09All right, nuts and bolts.
20:11Let's get out of here.
20:13Oliver, come, come.
20:15Good night.
20:17Good night.
20:17Good night for clothes.
20:18Oh, man.
20:18Oh, man.
20:29Oliver!
20:30Hold on.
20:30Let me just finish this.
20:32Can you cut me your waistband?
20:34Where's the pants?
20:35Oliver's pants still aren't done.
20:37He may just kill us all.
20:39Good morning, designers.
20:40You have two hours to send your models to the L'Oreal Paris makeup room in the Garnier hair studio.
20:45You all know how important the Piper Lime wall is.
20:48Work hard, everyone.
20:50Thank you, Tim.
20:50Thank you, Tim.
20:54We want a progression of makeup to go from messy into this very clean look.
20:58So they'll all have the same cheek and lips, but their eyes will kind of vary.
21:01Kind of a stronger V here.
21:08We just basically want them to look a little bit machine-ish.
21:12So for her, we really want tassel.
21:19You said you have a crimper?
21:20Mm-hmm.
21:21If I could get some crimp in her hair, but almost like she just woke up, and there it
21:24is.
21:25For her, the same idea, but if we could keep the natural texture of her hair up.
21:30And then go into a crimp?
21:31Yes.
21:32Okay.
21:34We are going to give them all bangs straight down and very, um...
21:37Severe?
21:37Very severe.
21:40Perfect match.
21:41Ruby.
21:41Designers and models, it's time.
21:46We're going down to the runway right now.
21:53Welcome to the runway.
21:56As you know, in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day, you're out.
22:01For this challenge, you worked in teams to come up with a concept for a runway show.
22:06HP and Intel provided you with the technology to help you throughout this entire challenge.
22:10All right.
22:11Let's meet the judges.
22:13First, we have CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Michael Kors.
22:17Hey, guys.
22:17Hi.
22:18Fashion director for Marie Claire Magazine, Nina Garcia.
22:21Hi.
22:21Welcome back.
22:22Welcome back.
22:22American fashion designer, Rachel Roy.
22:25Hello.
22:25Hello.
22:26Hi.
22:26And actress, Rose Byrne.
22:28Hi.
22:29Welcome.
22:30We will score your designs as they come down the runway.
22:32Anyway, one of you will be named the winner, and one of you will be out.
22:38All right.
22:38Let's start the show.
22:39I'm really, really excited.
22:54I think it's an amazing piece.
22:55I've executed this blazer that fits her beautifully, and I honestly surprised myself with how well
23:01it was done and the design that was behind it.
23:12My team's collection is cohesive in color and print.
23:16It's pretty together, and I love my jacket.
23:19I'm a little worried about the tank underneath.
23:22I think it could be a lot better, but I'm pretty confident that the jacket will carry me through.
23:26I love my look as it's coming down the runway.
23:37It's very edgy.
23:39It looked really high fashion in a modern way, and it looks like I wanted it to look like it.
23:44There's no hit or miss on it.
23:45It's pretty much perfect.
23:46I feel that I created a kick-ass garment.
23:58It's really me, and it's very edgy.
24:00I like it a lot.
24:01I just feel that the skirt got pulled up a bit short, so that's my only concern.
24:06I really, really love it.
24:14I'm really happy.
24:16I think the jumpsuit looks beautiful.
24:17It's well-made.
24:18I think the garment itself looks lovely.
24:21Throughout the collection, I think that there's a very chic, urban combination of all our aesthetics,
24:27and I'm hoping that they see the cohesion.
24:30I think the models look really good.
24:41There's a cohesion of color and of prints, and I'm proud of the fact that it all looks nice together.
24:51I'm extremely happy.
25:08The overall idea is that this is a city girl who doesn't make too much effort but still looks sexy and edgy and stylish at the same time.
25:17I'm just excited that it looks really good.
25:21I think that my garments go well with the collection.
25:33The shorts are great fitting, and I am very proud of it.
25:38I got to show my team members that I could do it.
25:41I love what I've done.
25:51I'm loving the asymmetry that I've done on the bottom.
25:54It's fun.
25:55It's flirty.
25:56It's almost kind of masculine but in a very girly way, and I was very proud of the overall concept that I suggested to the team.
26:05I feel amazing seeing Carla walking down the runway.
26:14The jacket fits her really nicely, and it's one of the strongest, most well-tailored jacket I've made.
26:20It's very, very satisfying, and I was really happy.
26:23Looking at my gown is amazing.
26:33It's hard to make a gown look so effortless and so flowy.
26:37I could see that in the red carpet.
26:39I could see that everywhere.
26:41Look how close it is.
26:42I seriously cannot believe I made that.
26:44Wow.
26:47Wow.
26:48I feel really great about our team's look.
26:55It's extremely cohesive.
26:56It's dynamic.
26:57Everything is working.
26:59I really enjoyed watching our collection.
27:01The color was perfect.
27:03Everything was just amazing.
27:12One person from the winning team will be the winner,
27:14and one person from the losing team will be out.
27:24Anya, Anthony Ryan, Victor, Oliver, Bryce.
27:30Your team is the winning team.
27:32Yay.
27:37That means Becky, Laura, Joshua, Bert, and Kimberly,
27:41you are the losing team.
27:42I'm going to talk to the winning team first
27:45and bring you guys out in a little bit.
27:48We can leave the runway.
27:57Your team is the winning team.
27:59Who wants to tell us about your collection?
28:01It was this whole idea of chaos, you know,
28:02just coming on this show,
28:04and it just keeps getting more and more chaotic,
28:06and it almost evolved in this sense of
28:08the chaos of New York City as well.
28:10It was really important that she never looked overdone,
28:13that she had, like, a great closet,
28:15and she could go and grab any piece
28:17and not be overdone.
28:18She could kind of just grab that,
28:20and she knew that she had a great outfit.
28:22I think that in two days,
28:24you guys did so much work.
28:26I mean, everyone did an impeccable look,
28:28and I have to say, in my eyes,
28:31today was one of the best runway shows.
28:33For me, there's not one outfit here that I don't like.
28:35I love the evening dress.
28:38I love all the prints.
28:39I feel like I haven't seen those prints before,
28:42and it's kind of hard to pick the best one.
28:44I think that you have some pieces here
28:48that are more sophisticated than others,
28:50and I wish that we kept the sophistication up.
28:54I think, Oliver, the tailoring on your jackets,
28:57fantastic.
28:59I think in all my years sitting in this chair,
29:02I think it is one of the strongest tailored pieces
29:04we've ever seen.
29:05Wow.
29:06And you finally got to do
29:08what it is that you do.
29:11We've been waiting for this.
29:12I'm like, okay, hello!
29:14You know, and here it is.
29:16The video really had that urban kaleidoscope
29:22kind of nervous energy,
29:24and I think the collection very much represents
29:27that attitude.
29:28I think the evening gown is very, very chic,
29:32very sophisticated, fantastic.
29:36Unfortunately, the shorts and the T-shirt,
29:39suddenly this urban sophisticate went to the mall.
29:43Right.
29:43Casual can still look polished,
29:45and I think you guys were probably afraid
29:47of Madame here screaming that there was no color,
29:51and she probably would.
29:54I think it was a good inspiration.
29:56Hats off.
29:59Rose, what do you think?
30:00I would totally wear all of these things,
30:02like that little cocktail dress to a premiere
30:05or a function or an event.
30:07They're all really wearable.
30:08I'm kind of scared of prints.
30:10Like, I can't, I don't know what to do with them.
30:12But these are all really approachable,
30:13and they're hip, which I like.
30:15And as a collection, I thought it had a really nice through line.
30:19I love your collection.
30:20In this case, the clothes are the story, the clothes are cohesive.
30:24I love the prints, and I'm glad that you brought color in,
30:27because I think that it's different.
30:31Guys, in my opinion, it is very well done.
30:35Oliver, that's the jacket I want.
30:38It looks gorgeous.
30:42I agree about the evening dress being very sophisticated,
30:46very beautiful.
30:48What I like the most about this collection
30:50is that you brought it to a personal level,
30:53and I think that's why it's so successful.
30:55How did you work together as a team?
30:56Fabulously.
30:57And we really, really collaborated.
30:59It's incredibly interwoven.
31:02But who do you think should be the winner in your team?
31:05Oh, I don't know.
31:06What do you think, Oliver?
31:07I would say I can be the winner.
31:10Victor, who do you think should win?
31:12Well, I'm going to stick with Oliver's trend,
31:13so I'm going to say mine.
31:15Anthony, Ryan, what about you?
31:17I'm going to stick with the trend and say me.
31:19Anya?
31:20I am very proud of myself sewing this dress,
31:23and so I'll also choose myself.
31:26Bryce?
31:26I'd say Anya.
31:29Okay, we've heard what you had to say.
31:31Very good job.
31:32You can leave the runway.
31:44All right, tell us about your runway show and your concept.
31:48Our concept, we kind of evolved with a girl from the city
31:52who's always on the go.
31:53She has a busy schedule.
31:55She's running out of time.
31:56And so then from there, it evolved with the clocks and time,
31:59and that's what we try to come across also in the video
32:04and the cohesion with the different card pieces and things like that.
32:07What my biggest problem was with your collection is that it was for me the biggest problem.
32:15Okay.
32:16What bothers me is the theme that you guys picked, it's so literal, what you sent down the runway here.
32:25It's like clocks, so she'll wear a clock.
32:29Well, time doesn't have to be that literal that you're wearing a clock.
32:33What does time mean to you?
32:34Do you think of a clock?
32:35Or do you think of your children?
32:37Or do you think of memories?
32:38And that should be reflected in the print.
32:40Don't give me bad energy.
32:42I don't want to wear something that says canceled.
32:44I think the video was okay.
32:46I think that it's just like, whoa, I don't know what's going on here.
32:50I kept seeing, like, legs and heels getting out of a car.
32:53It was like a hooker convention coming home after a late night.
32:57No, it was like an advertisement for shoes or New York City taxi cabs.
33:01It really was.
33:02You guys beat the other team as far as having a cohesive look to the girls.
33:10The hair is very this vibe.
33:13Their makeup is a similar vibe.
33:15All of that pulls it together for me, and I think that's a good thing.
33:19I guess I just was a bit concerned.
33:21And I didn't feel like a lot of them were that flattering, but weirdly.
33:24And you girls are all so beautiful, but together, it's not incredibly cohesive.
33:29And you totally copped out also.
33:31I had the belt.
33:33You know.
33:34So you didn't have to have the belt that's ugly.
33:37No.
33:37I just wanted to jump in with the team.
33:41You wanted to jump into the ugly.
33:43Jump right in.
33:44I wanted to be a part.
33:45She didn't.
33:47She's very into self-survival.
33:50That's not true.
33:50No.
33:51Well, obviously, you must have been rolling your eyes looking at those prints.
33:55Maybe Kimberly was smart to realize that not a lot of women want to have canceled on their crotch.
34:01Like, you know, I mean, this is not a great thing to wear out at night.
34:06Worse, you know, when I look at your outfit here at the end, once I get past that jacket, the top and the skirt are so just nothing.
34:17So someone on your team is going home today.
34:22Who is the weakest link?
34:23I don't want to point fingers, but I will say that Josh did start us off very badly.
34:29When I asked who's the weakest link, Becky said Josh.
34:33Bert, did you say Josh?
34:35I believe he was disruptive.
34:37Laura, what about you?
34:39I'd probably say Bert because of the under-the-rug comments.
34:41Who do you think is the weakest link?
34:45On this team, it was Becky.
34:47It's, you know, I just don't see much design within the outfit.
34:51I have something to say about that.
34:55I made the skirt three times, the top twice.
34:58People said it wasn't looking right, but I wasn't getting any feedback on what might look right.
35:02Your foundation is not there yet.
35:05I just think that that's, you know, where the design is lost for this challenge, where it could have been pushed a little bit.
35:12Kimberly, so who is the weakest link in your eyes?
35:14I think when we really look at it, the least styled look would probably be Becky's.
35:23Okay, we've heard what you had to say.
35:25We're going to have a little chat, and then I call you back.
35:27You can leave the runway.
35:29Thanks.
35:34So which outfit was your favorite outfit?
35:36I waved the flag for people who attempt tailoring and do it really well.
35:41And I thought that Oliver's jacket was spectacular.
35:45Fantastic.
35:46And the funny thing is, we haven't really seen it from him up until today.
35:51Yeah.
35:51You know, so today he really showed us that.
35:54Victor's dress was beautiful.
35:55It looked polished.
35:57It was interesting but wearable.
35:59You know, it was commercial.
36:00And that was a really cool, hip, great idea, the whole thing.
36:05It seems to me that Anya did a beautiful dress.
36:09Anya has a wonderful eye for prints.
36:14And used the prints in a mixed way that worked.
36:16Right.
36:17Which one do you think is the worst one out of these five?
36:20I am totally bored by Becky's outfit.
36:23Yeah.
36:24When she said she made the skirt three times.
36:25I mean, come on.
36:27What would she have done differently?
36:28There was no design whatsoever in Becky's outfit.
36:32This is about finding.
36:34Finding your own voice.
36:35And designing.
36:36She has too little and sometimes I think that Josh has too much.
36:40There was so much going on and I'm just worried sometimes about his taste level.
36:45Wasn't this a print challenge?
36:47And didn't he come up with that?
36:49With the worst print.
36:50The most terrible print of all?
36:52He is like a little dictator here.
36:54Right.
36:54Which I think is troublesome.
36:56He's a bit of a bully.
36:57What did you guys think about Bert's?
36:59He's a problem with attitude too.
37:01I mean, he doesn't have many.
37:02We're not saying everything is going on.
37:03He doesn't have many brands in this.
37:06Honestly, if you took Bert's dress and it wasn't in that horrible print.
37:10Or if you put a zipper down the chest.
37:12But I have to say he knows how to craft clothes.
37:14But I think he's certainly not a team player either.
37:17No.
37:17I just felt like Bert's dress just didn't do anything.
37:21You mean that's not going to be the dress that gets you into print?
37:25Exactly.
37:26She might not go there.
37:28I'm running fear from that.
37:29So we've made our decision.
37:33Okay, let's bring them back up.
37:39One person from the winning team will be the winner.
37:43And one person from the losing team will be out.
37:47You all were the clear winners.
37:56You worked together well and it showed in your collection.
38:02Anya, you are the winner of this challenge.
38:07Thank you so much.
38:09You're all in.
38:10You can leave the runway.
38:13Congratulations.
38:14Congratulations.
38:16It's my first win.
38:17And I'm really thrilled about it because it really brought together all the skills that I feel that I have being a graphic designer.
38:24And it's a really great challenge to win for me.
38:26Oh, you all don't know how much this makes me happy.
38:29It feels great to get such a glowing critique from all of the judges.
38:33It feels amazing.
38:34It feels amazing.
38:41Laura, you're in.
38:42You can leave the runway.
38:49Kimberly, you're in.
38:51You can leave the runway.
38:52Becky, Josh, one of you will be out.
39:09Joshua, it sounds like you were very involved in this fashion show.
39:13And unfortunately, it was a bad one.
39:17And your print completely missed the mark.
39:22Becky, in the real world as a designer, no one is going to tell you what to do.
39:29You have to make your own choices.
39:31Your look was weak in a weak collection.
39:46Becky, you're out.
39:55Joshua, that means you're in.
39:56You can leave the runway.
39:57Hi, Heidi.
40:09Thank you all for your input.
40:13I will consider it as I move forward as a designer.
40:20I don't think I deserve to go home today.
40:22I know I'm a good designer.
40:23Maybe my designs are more commercial than most of the designers have been showing.
40:27It is competition.
40:28Hey, Becky.
40:30How are you doing?
40:31I'm doing pretty good, actually.
40:33It made me realize that there are a lot of designers out there.
40:37And there's always going to be competition.
40:40There's always going to be someone who's, well, frankly, better than you.
40:43There's some amazing talent in this room.
40:46And I wish you guys all the best.
40:50It's getting very emotional.
40:54The fewer of you who remain, the more emotional it is to say goodbye to anyone.
41:00I have to send you to the workroom to clean up your space, Becky.
41:03I know.
41:04Oh, goodbye, Bryce.
41:06I don't think I did what I set out to do.
41:08I came here to win.
41:09You know, obviously I didn't win.
41:11I'm not done designing by a long shot.
41:15I'm going to start planning my future.
41:19I want to have my own collection.
41:22I need a vacation, though.
41:23Because this is tough.
41:25Next time on Project Runway.
41:31For this challenge, you won't be working with your usual models.
41:34You will be creating a look for their wife or their girlfriends.
41:38The men are going to provide you with direction.
41:41So if you think, like, cutesy, but, like, elegant, you can kind of mesh all those together.
41:45Like, what is double team?
41:47She has no double teams.
41:48It's a bigger cup size.
41:49I don't have any personal experience with all of her.
41:51Her breasts are, like, ginormous.
41:53She doesn't like to crack up her ass.
41:57I think it's super safe and super boring.
41:59It looks like she slept in the car on her way to the wedding.
42:02I'm really shocked.
42:03Hey, bada bing!
