00:00How Brian Koberger's family reacted to his sentencing in court.
00:04The criminology student's mom, Marianne Koberger, and sister Amanda Koberger,
00:09made appearances in court on July 23rd, when Brian received four consecutive life sentences
00:14for the 2022 murders of college students Kaylee Gonsalves, Madison Mogan,
00:19Zanna Kernodal, and Ethan Chapin. According to the New York Times, who had a reporter inside the
00:24room, the women had emotional reactions to the proceedings, with Marianne seen shuddering at
00:29times, and in one instance, putting her head in her hands. However, Brian ignored his family as
00:34he was escorted out of the room following his sentencing, per the outlet, only acknowledging
00:38their presence when court returned from a recess. At that point, the 30-year-old smiled and nodded
00:43at his mother. During the proceedings, Kaylee Gonsalves' sister Olivia gave a scathing victim
00:48impact statement, speaking directly to Brian Koberger. How does it feel to know the only thing
00:55you failed more miserably at than being a murderer is trying to be a rapper? Did you recently start
01:03shaving or manually pulling out your eyebrows? Did you truly think your Amazon purchase was
01:09untraceable because you used a gift card? If you were really smart, do you think you'd be here right
01:15now? What's it like needing this much attention just to feel real? You're terrified of being
01:24ordinary, aren't you? Earlier this month, Brian pleaded guilty to killing all four of the University
01:30of Idaho students, admitting that he acted deliberately and with premeditation. However,
01:34he did not provide a motive, leaving his reason for committing the crimes unclear. Following his
01:39confession, his family spoke out on the trial to ask the media for privacy, respect, and responsible
01:44judgment during this time. They said in a release shared from the family's Pennsylvania-based
01:49legal representation, we will continue to allow the legal process to unfold with respect to all
01:54parties and will not release any comments or take any questions. We ask that you respect our wishes
01:59during a difficult time for all those affected.
