00:00Purchase of a $330,000 robotic dog that drew attention to Brindabella Christian College's
00:07spending. But a report from administration firm Deloitte says the board of the college
00:12was also paying for business class travel and luxury hotels. All the while the business
00:17may have been insolvent since at least the beginning of 2021. Other extracurricular payments
00:22included $30,000 of donations to the Liberal Party between 2021 and 2024. In breach of
00:29regulations which prohibit registered charities from supporting political parties. The administrators
00:35identified about 200 creditors owed more than $12 million in total and also that from October
00:412020 the company constantly failed to lodge its tax lodgements on time. Students, staff
00:47and parents who have been questioning the school's governance are hoping this report helps put
00:51a full stop to the saga. The Deloitte report is amazing in the sense that for what we've
00:57known and suspected has been happening behind the scenes for a long time now, it lays it
01:02bare. Since May this year, Christian Community Ministries has taken over the school and according
01:07to the report, all staff and creditors are expected to receive all that's owing to them.
01:12I'm sure the new owners will really want to get everything on a sound footing to re-insure
01:18staff and students about the future going forward. We would really like to see some outcomes that
01:23hold them to account which set a precedence for other people to say we need to do the right
01:29thing. Former board members of Brindabella Christian College didn't respond to the ABC's requests
01:34for interviews. Adam Shirley, ABC News Canberra.
