🚨 27 Western countries, including the UK, France, and Australia, have issued a joint statement calling for an immediate end to the war in Gaza.
The powerful message condemns the "drip feeding of aid" and the "inhumane killing of civilians," including over 800 Palestinians reportedly killed while seeking food and water. The signatories demand unrestricted humanitarian access and compliance with international law.
Meanwhile, Israel rejects the statement, claiming it overlooks Hamas’s role in the conflict. With negotiations ongoing and suffering mounting, global pressure for a ceasefire is intensifying.

00:0027 nations, including the UK and Australia, have issued a statement from the UK calling for an
00:05immediate end to the war in Gaza. However, Israel has rejected the statement, with Israel's foreign
00:10ministry spokesman Oren Marmestein saying that it is disconnected from reality. The statement fails
00:14to focus the pressure on Hamas and fails to recognize Hamas's role and responsibility for
00:19the situation. He writes on X and says that Israel has agreed to a ceasefire proposal which Hamas
00:23stubbornly refuses to accept. Hamas is the sole party responsible for the continuation of the
00:28war and the suffering on both sides. At these sensitive moments in the ongoing negotiations,
00:32it is better to avoid statements of this kind, he says. Here's the statement in full.
00:36We, the signatories listed below, come together with a simple, urgent message. The war in Gaza must end.
00:41Now that the suffering of civilians in Gaza has reached new depths, the Israeli government's
00:46aid delivery model is dangerous, fuels instability and deprives Gazans of human dignity. We condemn
00:51the drip feeding of aid and the inhumane killing of civilians, including children, seeking to meet
00:55their most basic needs of water and food. It is horrifying that over 800 Palestinians have been
01:00killed while seeking aid. The Israeli government's denial of essential humanitarian assistance to the
01:05civilian population is unacceptable. Israel must comply with its obligations under international
01:09humanitarian law. The hostages cruelly held captive by Hamas since the 7th of October 2023,
01:15continue to suffer terribly. We condemn their continued detention and call for their immediate and
01:19unconditional release. A negotiated ceasefire offers the best hope of bringing them home and ending the
01:24agony of their families. We call on the Israeli government to immediately lift restrictions on
01:28the flow of aid and to urgently enable the UN and humanitarian NGOs to do their life-saving work
01:33safely and effectively. We call on all parties to protect civilians and uphold the obligations of
01:38international humanitarian law. Proposals to remove the Palestinian population into a humanitarian
01:42city are completely unacceptable. Permanent force displacement is a violation of international
01:47humanitarian law. We strongly oppose any steps towards territorial or demographic. Change in the
01:52occupied Palestinian territories. The E1 settlement plan announced by Israel's civil administration,
01:57if implemented, would divide a Palestinian state in two, marking a flagrant breach of international
02:02law and critically undermines the two-state solution. Meanwhile, settlement building across
02:06the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, has accelerated while settler violence against
02:10Palestinians has soared. This must stop. We urge the parties and the international community to unite in
02:15a common effort to bring this terrible conflict to an end through an immediate, unconditional,
02:18and permanent ceasefire. Further bloodshed serves no purpose. We reaffirm our complete support to the
02:23efforts of the US, Qatar and Egypt to achieve this. We are prepared to take further action to support an
02:28immediate ceasefire and a political pathway to security and peace. For Israelis, Palestinians in the
02:33entire region that this statement has been signed by the foreign ministers of Australia, Austria, Belgium,
02:38Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Greece, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania,
02:44Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden,
02:50Switzerland, and the UK, the EU Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management.
