00:00The development sector has an acute shortage of leadership and management talent.
00:10The reality is there isn't a program or an aspirational institution where a youngster can prepare for a career in development management.
00:17And if we want to scale and sustain and deliver impact, we need more people who are equipped with these skills.
00:24I think the social work programs really train young people to do a lot of the grassroots work, whereas here it is that, but it's also about leading organizations.
00:35How do you actually inspire a team? How do you strategize for your organization? And this is something that we really focus on.
00:45When I started my entrepreneurial journey that time, that courage I started an organization is coming from that one year.
00:53We've had leaders, bureaucrats and several others coming in and sharing their learning and experiences with us every single day and pushing our thinking in ways that we could have never imagined.
01:04So how we are doing it is by first and foremost recognizing, communicating and promoting that the time has come to consider this to be a profession.
01:17We need to create professionals for the sector by taking young people and skilling them up, expose them to a lot of knowledge and expertise and then also build a network of our graduates that then creates a self-supporting network of leaders that go out and make a difference in the country.
01:38Some of them completely change their minds while they're here because they get so much exposure while they're at ISDM. And guess what? They go back all over the country.
01:47Check writing organizations, they write work for consulting companies. They also work in government organizations. And they are always telling us amazing stories of amazing work they're doing in such diverse sectors across the country.
02:00People who would want to continue with the same old way of engaging with development problems, but want to really bring about the out of box thinking to the problems that we are facing.
02:11If you are the person that thinks like that then you definitely want to be in this program.
02:15We are approaching young people who are completing their undergraduate education or those who
02:22have finished their post-graduate degrees in any discipline.
02:26And I think if you have a class with many students from different disciplines, it really
02:30enriches the quality of discourse and discussion.
