00:00An international legal battle is erupting between an American journalist,
00:03the president of France, and the president's wife.
00:06And today, I have been sued by the first lady man of France.
00:12According to reports, President Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron,
00:15have filed a 219-page defamation lawsuit against Candace Owens,
00:20accusing Owens of what they describe as a relentless and unjustified smear campaign.
00:25The suit centers on Owens' eight-part podcast titled Becoming Brigitte,
00:29which has received over 2.3 million views,
00:32where Candace accuses Brigitte of being secretly transgender,
00:35assumed another person's identity, and is a blood relative of her husband.
00:39Is Brigitte Macron the first lady of France, Emmanuel Macron's biological father?
00:45The lawsuit alleges Owens used false narratives for profit and attention,
00:50including accusations that Macron was part of a CIA mind-controlled program
00:53and that the couple were involved in incest, fraud, and forgery.
00:57The file also references Owens promoting and selling merchandise,
01:01such as a fake Time magazine Man of the Year shirt featuring Brigitte,
01:05which sold out, leading Candace to announce in a recent livestream that the shirt is back in stock.
01:11Oh, that was funny.
01:11So, you know, I did.
01:12We restocked this shirt.
01:13We are restocking this.
01:15We're going to go ahead and sell a thousand more.
01:18In response, Owens' team has pushed back.
01:20According to a statement published by Deadline, a spokesperson for Owens said,
01:24This is a foreign government attacking the First Amendment rights of an American independent journalist.
01:29Candace repeatedly requested an interview with Brigitte Macron.
01:32Instead of offering a comment, Brigitte is resorting to trying to bully a reporter into submission.
01:37The rep added,
01:38Candace Owens is not shutting up.
01:41And at the time of writing this,
01:42more than 2.6,000 people are already queued up for Owens' upcoming livestream,
01:46waiting to hear her response, signaling this battle is far from over.
01:50My lawyer being able to sit across and ask Brigitte Macron questions,
01:56Brigitte would then be compelled for the first time to answer them under oath.
02:01But what's your take?
