Jason Knight reflects on pre-season test for Bristol City

00:00Bristol City's Jason Knight has reflected on the Robins' latest pre-season test

00:05and made clear that it was important for getting fitness and minutes into the bodies of many of the current squad

00:11as well as some of the new players who have joined.

00:15Yeah, like you say, there are more minutes in the tank and that's what pre-season's about.

00:20The performance was a lot to improve on, but it's always going to be like that in pre-season.

00:24Obviously a few new players in, a lot of players getting minutes, a bigger squad today,

00:29so no, it's a performance to work on.

00:31It's exactly what we needed out of the day, get a lot of the ball, get the air in the lungs and go again.

00:38It's obviously a decent win there, obviously a good team, they'll have a good season this year, I think.

00:43But honestly, it's loads to improve on, but a good test.

00:48And it's still very early days, as you say, and pre-season you're absorbing a lot of information,

00:52but how do you feel you've developed since day one of pre-season?

00:55Yeah, like you say, it's a change, obviously, with the new manager and the staff coming in.

01:00The lads have taken to it quite well, and we've just got to try and implement as much as we can over the next few weeks.

01:04There's still a couple, two or three weeks to go until the season starts, so no, we just keep working.

01:09We've got a good couple of games coming up on Friday and Saturday,

01:11so we'll try and get better and better as the weeks go on.

01:14And Bristol Rovers have confirmed that forward Oli Dewsbury has signed his first professional deal with the club,

01:20to which he was delighted to get it over the line.

01:23A lot of hard work over the years.

01:26Yeah, it's a really proud moment for me, and it just shows that if you're working in the academy,

01:32there's definitely a way through to the first team.

01:35Is there that extra bit special being here in the Boyhood's club?

01:39Yeah, definitely. I've been here since pre-academy, so over ten years now,

01:43so it definitely means a lot.

01:44I mean, I've been at the MAM however many times in the Thatcher's End, so yeah, it's brilliant.

01:49You mentioned your journey there so far. What's it been like? Talk us through it.

01:54Yeah, it's been a lot of ups and downs. It's been hard, but yeah, I've really enjoyed it.

01:59The staff have been amazing. Last year, a different challenge going out on loan.

02:03I really enjoyed that, and then coming back to the first team, it's been really good, yeah.

02:07And what's your favourite moment been so far?

02:10I'd probably have to say the FA Cup debut. That was pretty surreal.
