'Fridge Man' Matt Jones prepares for his next challenge of completing twenty six marathons in twenty six days, whilst carrying a fridge on his back for Hope House charity.
Transcript
00:00Okay, Matt, so just explain what the plan is, what you're doing.
00:04So, challenge number two is 672 miles, 26 marathons in 26 days consecutive,
00:12starting at John O'Groats, April 1st, finishing on the 26th of April,
00:172026 on the finish of the London Marathon line.
00:21Goodness me, that's incredible. So, how much training have you put in for this?
00:25The training plan only block begins now, phase one starts to begin now.
00:30I'm actively and physically very fit anyway, I like to think for my age,
00:34but however, a different type of training is going to be approached for this one.
00:39So, yeah, lots of strength and hybrid training.
00:42Yeah, it's a fantastic challenge. And if anybody wants to donate, what should they do?
00:46They can go on to Instagram or Facebook page or TikTok now, Fridge Freezer Man,
00:51and there'll be a link there to the Just Given page, which will go directly to the Hope House page.
00:57Okay, Andy, so you're the chief exec at Hope House.
00:59Yes, I am.
00:59How do you feel about Matt's challenge? Incredible, isn't it?
01:01It's an incredible challenge. I mean, just when he says it, you know, 26 marathons over 26 days,
01:08it's just mind-boggling, isn't it?
01:09Yeah, when you think about it.
01:10It's absolutely incredible.
01:11It is, yeah. And lucky you don't have to do it.
01:14Okay, well, there's no chance. I haven't even tried to pick it up yet. So, yeah, absolutely.
01:19So, how did this come about? What, you know, what was the connection with Matt and Hope House?
01:25Yeah, well, Matt's wife, who very sadly passed away at Christmas, was a big supporter of Hope House and Tigger Byth.
01:31And I think you've read Matt's story about his situation with his wife and the sort of deal that he made with his wife.
01:41And she was a big supporter of ours. And he decided that he was going to go ahead with this challenge and raise money for Hope House and Tigger Byth.
01:49And Matt really cares about the children that we support and the quality of life for those children.
01:54You can see he's a big family man. And it's lovely that, you know, he's given this fantastic support to a local charity.
02:03It's amazing.
02:04It's amazing.
