00:13So, instantly getting some of the atmosphere in here, some of the vibe.
00:18We're bringing a little bit of kind of cool, chic, gentleman's drinking club vibe into Derby.
00:26Daly Abbey Wines, who have set this whole venture up from the initial sketch they brought to us with a good idea,
00:36through to this amazing vision that they have helped realise in partnership with Waits the Builders,
00:42who have obviously been our build partners for the whole project.
00:46So, I see the whole gentleman's club vibe in here with the lovely Frank Arlo.
00:54It's eclectic, isn't it?
00:55You've got a little cage there.
00:56Oh, I see a few classics here.
01:00So, yeah, it's definitely going to be one of the coolest places to come in the city centre to come and have a drink.
01:08One of the highlights, of course, is that it is the city's only distillery.
01:11And I think you'll agree that the stills that they've got in from an amazing company called Brit Stills, custom built for this location, are absolutely stunning.
01:22Are they operational, these stills?
01:24They are, yes.
01:25They are, yes.
01:25So, we're going to be, the team here at Daly Abbey Wines are going to be distilling, initially, gin.
01:32So, we are going to have their very own market hall gin, which we're incredibly excited about.
01:37But they're going to offer much more than that.
01:40Obviously, you'll be able to drink the spirits that they produce here, but also come for workshops, tastings.
01:46They really want to kind of help stretch that experience of, you know, what you can do around the spirit room.
01:52So, what do you think spirit room will add to the market hall?
01:57This is the perfect space for us.
02:00It's bringing a very different crowd into the area.
02:04It's chic, it's sophisticated, it's got the best vibe going.
02:10So, where the main market hall is very light, bright, real focus on family friendly,
02:15this is a place where, you know, we will have our grown-up crowd coming for cocktails, drinks, you name it.
02:24The bar here is absolutely out of this world, as I say.
02:27Also, because they have got this amazing glassware,
02:30and there is nothing like having a handmade cocktail out of one of those beautiful glasses
02:36to make you feel like, you know, you're transported somewhere else.
02:40So, yeah, it's absolutely a jewel in the crown for the market hall.
02:44It is thrilling.
02:46It's, you know, always a challenge establishing a new venue anywhere.
02:51Certainly one that is grade two listed, has its own restrictions.
02:56It's always going to be more of a challenge.
02:58But to see this next wave of activity is just thrilling.
03:01We know people are going to love this space.
03:05Are there any other plans in the part five for the wider Derby market hall?
03:09Yeah, definitely.
03:10This is just the second.
03:12So, we've had our brand opening.
03:14We've now got the distillery opening, which is wonderful.
03:18We are very excited about our public realm space being completed, Osnabricks Square.
03:23So, in a couple of weeks' time, we look forward to being able to invite people into that space.
03:27And it will really open up the front of the building and allow people to see the true beauty of the market hall.
03:35Excitingly, we've got our next wave of dry goods traders coming in.
03:39We can't wait to get, you know, another wave of people in.
03:41We've really been trying to listen to public demand.
03:45And we've been talking to small businesses locally.
03:47So, that is really exciting for us, you know, to get that next wave of businesses in.
03:51So, that's what the market hall is all about, is supporting people like Dali Abbey Wines, like the other traders we've got, to thrive in the city.
03:58Great. You mentioned Osnabricks Square. Do we have a timeline on that?
04:03So, at the moment, we are looking at August time, so summer holiday time.
04:08We'd really like to have it completed for then.
04:10And the guys are out there working as quickly as they possibly can to make sure that's done for us as soon as possible.
04:16What makes Dark Market Hall so special?
04:19It is a mix of the heritage and celebrating this amazing building and cherishing and saving this amazing space.
04:27coupled with turning it into more than a market.
04:31Yes, we're a market, but we are the next wave, the next generation of what a market is.
04:36And we know it's going to thrive, and we know the businesses inside are going to thrive.
