We speak to locals to see what they think about Derby Market Hall
Transcript
00:00I think it's money very well spent, you know, for Derby. I think it will bring a lot more
00:06interest and it's just probably what we need. And, you know, people have said, oh, you know,
00:10it's a lot of money to spend on a building, but this building was just going to Reckham
00:15Ruin. It's a grand old building and they've kept that, but with a new modern feel, you
00:20know, we've got all the food vendors, some of the stalls are still empty because there's
00:25a waiting list and people are waiting to come in. I think we need to support it and give
00:29it a chance. Doesn't look like it's had that much spent on it. I think it was a lot better
00:33before, to be honest. Great character. It's a beautiful building and obviously it costs,
00:42doesn't it, £35 million, but I think until we have these units full and not empty, I think,
00:51you know, customers are a little bit disappointed. I think it was money well spent. Obviously,
00:56it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a listed building. So when people see the figure and it says 35,
01:01but it sounds like a huge number and it is a huge amount of money, but to, to bring something
01:07like this sort of, you know, forward, we can all look back and enjoy memories of the past,
01:13but the world changes as we move along. And I think markets have to change. And I think
01:17the way they've organised this and curated it is fantastic.
