00:00Last year, Devon saw the highest number of school suspensions on record.

00:07It comes as the school leaders' union warns classroom disruption lies beyond school gates.

00:12Figures from the Department of Education show that almost 19,000 suspensions were handed out in schools in Devon last year.

00:19That's up from 16,000 the year previous.

00:22It was also the highest figures since school records began in 2006.

00:25Permanent exclusions also reached a record high in England with a number of 146 in Devon alone.
