00:57:35And tell me, what happened to your leg?

00:57:39Were you born with a birth defect?

00:57:40Did you lose your leg to disease or an accident?

00:57:43When I was a little boy, I had osteogenic sarcoma, which is a form of bone cancer that was on my femur.

00:57:50And to prevent it from spreading to the rest of my body and killing me,

00:57:53they had to cut it off at the source by amputating my leg.

00:57:58And how old were you?

00:57:59I was eight years old.

00:58:01This was in 91.

00:58:05And your family?

00:58:06How did your family handle this situation?

00:58:09Well, I don't have much of a family, or at that time I didn't.

00:58:12I had my mom.

00:58:14It was pretty much my only family I had, and she was tremendous.

00:58:19She took care of me when I was in the hospital sick for seven, eight months.

00:58:23She worked full-time, she took care of the house, and she was pregnant on top of that.

00:58:27So much love to my mother for helping me get through that, definitely.

00:58:31And what about your dad?

00:58:34My dad, I haven't seen him since I was four.

00:58:37He took off when I was four, so, you know, whatever.

00:58:41And what about your little brother or little sister?

00:58:43My little brother, Matthew, yes.

00:58:44He's 11 years old now, and I'm very proud of him.

00:58:47And he will do well.

00:58:49I'm sure he's very proud of you, too.

00:58:51Wow.

00:58:52And, you know, I've got to ask you, Zach.

00:58:56I heard about Make-A-Wish Foundation, which is a foundation that grants wishes to terminally

00:59:01ill children.

00:59:02Right.

00:59:03And I heard that they came to you in your hospital bed and offered you a wish.

00:59:08Right, yeah.

00:59:08Well, they offered me a wish because my cancer was pretty deadly.

00:59:12It took the lives of a lot of kids who had it in the hospital with me.

00:59:17And my wish would have been to meet Hulk Hogan.

00:59:21He was an inspiration to me when I was eight years old.

00:59:24But I passed on the wish because I knew I was going to live.

00:59:29Well, so what is next for Zach Gowen?

00:59:38I mean, you made a courageous, you know, move last week on SmackDown when you dove in the

00:59:43ring to help your hero, Mr. America.

00:59:45Mr. America, yes.

00:59:46And then, you know, you accompanied Mr. America down to ringside last Sunday at Judgment Day.
