Here's Elka wants the team to finish strong this year.
00:03
You have to go through some of that sometimes.
00:06
And as painful it is and as painful it was for us and our fans and everyone involved,
00:11
we had never been in that position before.
00:13
We had never been the hunted team.
00:15
We had never been in November competing for an opportunity to get into Atlanta with our destiny in our own hands.
00:22
And I think you learn how you have to elevate your game in those matchups when you become that team.
00:29
And, you know, going on the road in back-to-back weeks and we didn't play the football that we needed to play to finish it.
00:36
And it's been our mantra the entire offseason.
00:38
Mantras don't turn into wins.
00:40
But I do believe our kids have a really strong chip on our shoulder to change that story and finish this thing the right way.
00:49
Yeah, listen, I think they're better than Arkansas.
00:52
I'll give you that much.
00:53
They're a tough team.
00:54
They always are.
00:56
You know, what's their win total?
00:57
The Texas A&M win total right now is sitting at seven and a half.
01:05
Now, look, they've got, again, it's SEC, so they've all got a pretty tough one.
01:11
But I always do take a note if there's a team that doesn't have either Alabama or Georgia on the schedule.
01:18
Texas A&M does not play either of them this year.
01:21
So that's usually a little helpful.
01:23
Now, they do play Texas, obviously.
01:26
They get them every year now in the rotation with the rivalry game at the end of the year.
01:31
But, you know, Missouri, South Carolina, Arkansas, Florida, Miss State, Auburn, you know, they're not getting all the heavy hitters there.
01:40
But they do play Notre Dame on the road.
01:42
Remember, Notre Dame beat them there last year.
01:43
They got to go to South Bend and return the favor now this year at a night game in mid-September.
01:50
So, tough schedule.
01:52
But I think they can get over it, actually.
01:54
It will be a loss in South Bend, yes.
01:56
But I think we can maybe get them to eight wins this year and get over that seven and a half.
02:01
I like that over.
02:02
I do.
02:03
And I think your thought about them not having to play the heavies is a perfect opening.
02:09
The door's open for them to go get it.
02:12
I think the guy can coach.
02:14
I think they have talent.
02:15
I think they have a shot at it.
02:16
I like that schedule you just talked about.
02:19
They're not winning the SEC.
02:22
That's not happening.
02:23
I don't believe.
02:24
But, you know, like I said, the handing of this conference to Texas because of what they did last year is, I think, absurd.
02:35
That doesn't, you know, that doesn't cut it for me.
02:39
I don't care what you did last year.
02:42
You know, I don't deny that they have a loaded cupboard and a great young quarterback, right?
02:50
But, you know, they've only let him play a couple times.
02:55
I need to see the guy play on the road in all those hostile environments every week.
03:01
I want to see what he does every single week.
03:03
He's going to be their quarterback now.
03:05
None of this, you know, two games and then he doesn't play again.
03:09
So we don't know what they're going to be like.
03:12
And I guarantee you, George is hungry and licking their chops because they didn't get it done.
03:18
And Alabama, in my view, stunk.
03:23
Nine and four, to me, stinks for that, right?
03:26
Like, and LSU, this guy Kelly, he's angry.
03:30
I mean, let's face facts.
03:32
He keeps losing openers.
03:33
He's in a foul mood from the jump every year.
03:36
That LSU team is loaded and dangerous and ready for bear.
03:41
So, you know, you look at those three, George, Alabama, and LSU.
03:46
I think it's coming out of that chunk.
