Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang praised China’s open-source AI innovation during a fireside chat at the China International Supply Chain Expo, according to SCMP. Jensen Huang called open source “extremely powerful” and praised China’s ecosystem for producing the world’s best open-reasoning models, including DeepSeek, Qwen, and Kimi. Huang said China’s collaborative engineering culture has advanced open-source development, benefiting global industries such as fintech, healthcare, and robotics. He emphasized that open-source models drive both China’s AI progress and broader global innovation. Huang said Chinese firms have not yet placed H20 orders because U.S. agencies are still processing final paperwork, although the government has assured Nvidia that licenses will be granted. He added that Nvidia is working quickly to restore H20 production but noted it takes about nine months from wafer order to delivery. Analysts say renewed H20 availability could ease concerns for Chinese firms developing large language models and boost foreign chipmakers’ market share in China.
