00:10do you ever switch on the news and just find yourself reflecting on how much pain there is
00:17in this world maybe you are someone who is currently experiencing pain or loss or trouble
00:25of some kind often if we are honest we want mercy for us when we are struggling or in trouble and
00:31justice for others we get very worked up about other people's wrongdoing and have a great ability
00:39to ignore our own stuff the bible acknowledges that pain and suffering in this world is very real
00:45and in the book of hebrews we read that we have a god revealed in jesus christ who himself was
00:52acquainted with pain suffering and grief that means that today god can empathize and sympathize
01:00in our suffering and weakness he is a god who offers us forgiveness which we can then extend to others
01:08in my job as a church minister i often sit with people on the bad days and yet i am really struck
01:15by the fact however bad it gets we have a god who suffered for us suffers with us and who offers us
01:23fresh hope i often think of it like this we may be walking through a valley but he walks with us and
01:30one day we will come out of the valley and see a new horizon maybe seen with a different perspective
01:37in the meantime nothing absolutely nothing can keep us from his love and the apostle paul said this in
01:45romans 8 for i am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from god's love neither death nor life
01:55neither angels nor demons neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow not even the powers of
02:02hell can separate us from god's love no power in the sky above or in the earth below indeed nothing in all
02:10of creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of god that is revealed in christ jesus our lord
