00:00I'm a 20 year old girl working at a Starbucks inside of a local grocery store.
00:08Our setup is different from the typical drive-thru Starbucks.
00:11We're tucked into a cramped corner near the front of the store,
00:14and our counter and overall space is really small.
00:17The only way in is through the waist-high flapper door at the edge of the counter,
00:21or through the door in our back room that leads outside toward the dumpsters.
00:25I've been working at this store for about two years,
00:27so I'm familiar with the people that come in and out.
00:30There's a seating area with tables right by the entrance,
00:33making them available for anyone walking into the store to linger for as long as they like.
00:38My location is a problem with a lot of homeless people hanging out there and doing sketchy things.
00:42Some go as far as to sexually harass me on a daily basis.
00:46This is something I've reported numerous times to my managers,
00:49but they never take me seriously.
00:51They actually make jokes about it to my face,
00:54and even once said they don't want to deal with my drama and emotions anymore.
00:58This made me feel extremely helpless from the start,
01:01but I slowly learned to deal with their harassment on my own.
01:04After two years, I thought I'd grown thick enough skin for whatever bullshit my job throws my way,
01:09but something happened to me very recently that has left me completely shaken to my core.
01:14It started on a Sunday shift,
01:16when a homeless man I'd never seen wandered into the store.
01:19I was sure he was on drugs as his eyes were sunken in.
01:23He looked like he hadn't slept in days,
01:25and he was wearing dirty, raggedy clothes.
01:28The first thing he did was sit in the very far corner of the lobby with a couple bags of stuff,
01:32just staring at me.
01:33I couldn't help but get uncomfortable and stare back at him,
01:36hoping I could shake his gaze.
01:38The look in his eyes was totally new and strange to me,
01:41even after all my encounters with deranged freaks.
01:44He did not break eye contact and had an almost angered expression,
01:48like he wanted to hurt me.
01:50I hated the feeling of being watched,
01:52but it was busy as it usually is on Sundays,
01:54so I had to look away a lot so I could do my job.
01:57After several minutes of this,
01:59he suddenly stood up and started yelling loud enough to draw the attention of everyone in the area.
02:04He was shouting directly at me over the whole store,
02:07saying I had an attitude problem,
02:09and calling me really degrading names.
02:11I was too shocked to say anything back,
02:14so I just stood there awkwardly.
02:16This made him grow more frustrated,
02:18as he started screaming even louder,
02:20now walking up to my counter.
02:22I panicked and quickly ran to the department next to me
02:25to tell a manager about it.
02:27She called store management over,
02:29and they finally confronted him.
02:31When they asked him what his problem was,
02:32he said that my leggings were disrespectful and insulting.
02:35I was behind the counter the whole time until I ran away,
02:38so I didn't know how he could even see my pants.
02:41At least on that day,
02:43he left without causing more problems.
02:45Unfortunately,
02:47he kept coming back.
02:49I didn't tell the store manager about him again,
02:51because they made me hesitant to do so,
02:53given how they handled things in the past.
02:55The man sat through entire shifts from 5.30am to 1.30pm,
03:00spying on me from the corner of the lobby.
03:02He brought old paper Starbucks cups and tried to pressure me
03:05into giving him refills of dripped coffee,
03:07but I would decline knowing he never made a purchase.
03:10One day,
03:11which is the day I'll never forget,
03:13he came in and sat in his usual corner.
03:16This time,
03:17he was wearing a big jacket even though it was 70 degrees outside.
03:21He eventually approached me with his same cup asking me for a refill,
03:25then I declined as I usually do.
03:27But instead of just walking away,
03:30he slammed his fist against the countertop.
03:32He looked me dead in the eyes and said,
03:34You're going to hell.
03:36People like you don't deserve to live.
03:38There was barely any space between us,
03:41so I froze,
03:42thinking about how I'm going to escape,
03:44but there wasn't a single person around to help me.
03:47Then,
03:48the man reached in his jacket and pulled out a pocket knife.
03:51He pointed at my face,
03:53repeating the same thing over and over again.
03:55He even started walking toward the door to get behind the counter.
03:58Panicking out of my mind,
04:00I jumped through the serving window.
04:02He immediately lunged back over and almost slashed me.
04:05I barely managed to get out of the way in time.
04:08Then I ran faster than I ever had.
04:10There was a storage closet close by,
04:12so I dove in there and locked the door behind me.
04:15An instant later,
04:16as I was scrambling from my phone to call the police,
04:19he was banging on the door like a maniac.
04:22He kept saying if I didn't open up,
04:24he would kill me.
04:26I was trapped in there for several agonizing minutes,
04:29terrified the entire time that he would somehow find a key and get inside.
04:33But thankfully,
04:34the police arrived before anything like that could happen.
04:37When they got there,
04:38he was still standing outside the door with the knife,
04:41just waiting for me to get out.
04:43He was arrested.
04:45But at this point,
04:46I don't know if he's sitting in jail,
04:48or if he's been dumped out on the street somewhere.
04:51I never knew what his intentions were,
04:53or if he was actually going to hurt me.
04:55But I'm still extremely frustrated.
04:58I know this could have been prevented
05:00if my store managers took my claims more seriously.
05:03It's been a couple weeks now,
05:05and I haven't seen him since.
05:07But every time I have to go to work early in the morning,
05:11I'm scared he'll be there again.
05:19Children say the craziest things.
05:21On a day-to-day basis though,
05:23it's easier to believe that a kid is making something up,
05:26or misinterpreting reality,
05:28rather than being 100% truthful.
05:30This is a story that should remind anyone who has kids
05:33to take them more seriously.
05:35I live alone with my five-year-old son.
05:38My parents came over to babysit a lot during the day,
05:41but at night and early in the morning,
05:43it's just the two of us.
05:44One day,
05:45I noticed he was groggy and grumpy.
05:47I asked him if he slept okay,
05:49and he said that someone kept him up.
05:51Of course,
05:52I thought by someone he meant me,
05:54and that he was trying his best
05:55to subtly tell me to keep it down.
05:57I promised I would be quieter after he went to bed that night.
06:02However,
06:03for the next week,
06:05he never seemed to get out of that slump.
06:07He would shuffle around the house,
06:09making remarks about how mommy talks too much,
06:12or how he wanted mommy to stop messing up his room.
06:15I asked him multiple times to explain what I was doing wrong
06:18so that I could help.
06:19But every time I tried talking to him,
06:21he would look away and try to hide his feelings.
06:24I was worried he was developing some behavioral issues.
06:28My fear seemed to be confirmed when I went to wake him up one morning
06:31and he was already awake,
06:33sitting straight up in bed with a huge frown on his face.
06:36That,
06:37and his room was an absolute wreck.
06:39All his toys and clothes were strewn everywhere,
06:41looking like he'd spent all night trashing the place.
06:45Understandably,
06:46I reprimanded him for staying up past his bed time and messing up his room.
06:50To my surprise,
06:51there wasn't any back talk.
06:53All he did was sit there and sulk while I started to pick things up.
06:57Before I thought to tell him to do it himself.
07:00I left the room and went to make breakfast while he got to it.
07:03When he came and sat down at the table,
07:05he said something that made me stop and think twice.
07:08Still upset from earlier,
07:11he grumbled.
07:12I wish people didn't have to knock to get in the house.
07:15We didn't have a doorbell,
07:17so guests and couriers would always knock.
07:20I explained what doorbells were,
07:22but when I was finished,
07:23he asked if I could install a doorbell for his window.
07:26This made a pit form in my stomach.
07:28I asked him who was knocking on his window,
07:31but he just turned and covered his face.
07:33Again,
07:34I asked him if anyone was coming to his window,
07:37but this time he shook his head.
07:39I never knew him to lie,
07:41so this was a great relief.
07:43Something still felt weird,
07:45but my mom arrived soon after and changed the whole mood.
07:49Then I went off to work.
07:50That night though,
07:53I was determined to get to the bottom of whatever was happening.
07:56I put him to bed around 8.
07:58Then I waited for my usual bedtime around 10.
08:01I walked past his door like I was going to bed.
08:04Then about 20 minutes later,
08:06I crept out of the room and listened outside his door.
08:09That's when I heard it,
08:11knocking on the window.
08:13I quickly opened the door to see who it was,
08:15but there was nobody there.
08:17All I saw was my son laying down facing the window.
08:20I could tell he was faking being asleep,
08:22so I whispered to him to stop tapping on his window.
08:25He said,
08:26Okay mommy.
08:27Then I closed the door and let him be.
08:30At this point,
08:31he was exhibiting more than one maladaptive nighttime behavior,
08:34so I found it appropriate to set up a camera in his room.
08:37I didn't tell him about it,
08:39but it wasn't exactly hidden either.
08:41I just sat on his dresser and faced his bed.
08:44I did a similar thing the very next night,
08:47but this time,
08:48I watched on my phone from my bed.
08:50I kept an eye on the camera from 10 to 11,
08:53but didn't see anything.
08:55I had to get to sleep eventually,
08:57so I decided to let the motion detector record anything that happened overnight.
09:01However,
09:02I had some trouble sleeping,
09:04so I was still awake when my phone buzzed about an hour later.
09:08There was movement in the room.
09:10I opened up the app and saw the most haunting image of my life.
09:13Someone was crawling through my son's window.
09:17The next moments were a blur of sheer panic and rage.
09:20I grabbed the club I keep by my bed for defense.
09:23Then I rushed to my son's room.
09:25I barged through the door to see some masked person in his bed.
09:28Not just on it,
09:29but under the covers with him.
09:31I screamed bloody murder and ripped them out of the sheets.
09:34Then I started wailing on them without mercy.
09:36It was only when I could finally hear the screams from the person I was beating
09:40that I finally stopped.
09:42When I recognized the voice behind the mask.
09:46It was his mother.
09:48My ex-wife.
09:49I froze as I realized what I had just done in front of my child.
09:53His mother and father had just turned into animals.
09:56One literally trying to kill the other right in front of his eyes.
09:59They were both sobbing and begging me to stop.
10:02But I just couldn't hear it in time.
10:04I called the police to let them deal with the rest.
10:07My ex was arrested for violating the restraining order I filed against her on my son's behalf.
10:12The whole reason we separated and I got full custody was because of abusive things she did when her son was much younger.
10:19But I never thought she was still so obsessed with us and crazier than ever.
10:24I know I was within my rights to do what I did.
10:27Especially considering whatever sick ways in which my ex was trying to influence her son.
10:32But I just know it traumatized him beyond belief.
10:36He'll be dealing with those awful memories for the rest of his life.
10:40If I had only listened more closely to what he was telling me.
10:43It could have been stopped long before it came to the catastrophe that it did.
10:50I went on a Tinder date some time ago while I was adjusting to a new city I had moved to.
10:55I didn't really know anybody there so I used some online dating apps to see the dating scene around town.
11:01I landed one from a girl that seemed just like an artsy hippie type of girl.
11:05We had a few exchanges through the Tinder app and then decided to meet up for a drink.
11:09I picked her up at her house and she greeted me at the door and gave me a hug.
11:14She said the name of a local bar she wanted to go to for us to chat and get to know each other.
11:19I told her I would drive and proceeded to my car.
11:22The first red flag I noticed was when I walked to my car and opened the door.
11:27She had just followed me to the driver's side and was standing behind me staring.
11:32I looked at her blankly for about 15 seconds and asked if she was going to get in.
11:37She said, sure, I would love to.
11:40And went the long way to the passenger side around the back of the car.
11:44Since I had just met this girl I figured she had just maybe smoked some weed or something as I had kind of gotten the vibe she was a bit of a stoner.
11:52As I was driving to the bar she talked in a very low voice almost as if she was trying to whisper.
11:59I am not hard of hearing her or anything but I had to ask her to repeat herself several times just so I could make out the full sentences she was saying.
12:07When we got to the bar I made sure we got a seat closer to the back away from most people just so I could have a little quiet in order to hear.
12:14The conversations honestly carried on as normal from this point and it was actually a fun time for the time being.
12:20We talked about different things we were interested in and she did bring up that she did recreationally smoke weed and a few other tripping substances like shrooms and such.
12:31I am not much a fan of these but it at least made me relax in the back of my mind to think maybe she was just high off weed and that rationally explains some of the out there behavior.
12:42Granted I had a few drinks at this point so I was honestly not thinking straight.
12:47I asked her if she wanted to go to my place after drinks and she agreed.
12:51When we got there we had a few more drinks and then she started talking about her jewelry.
12:56This is where it gets weird.
12:58She told me her jewelry was her big secret and it defined her.
13:02When I asked her why it was so important she said
13:05I am actually Anastasia and I was never killed in Russia.
13:09My jewelry is my link to my past.
13:12It was hard for me to take that seriously at this point with how much I drank so
13:17I kind of challenged that statement using the little bit I knew about history.
13:21At this point she freaked out and started yelling at the top of her lungs about how I don't respect ancestors in history.
13:27Then she got quiet and tiptoed right up to me and grabbed me by the neck.
13:31She then brought my face eye to eye with hers while still holding my neck.
13:36She says at this point,
13:38I am a shaman and I will curse you.
13:40My ancestors have destroyed many people and you do not respect that.
13:44You are from oppressive ancestors and they will be punished.
13:47Then she put her hand in a whiskey glass and made a cross on my face and kissed my forehead.
13:52At this point I started to sober up a little.
13:55I talked her into calming down telling her I was only joking.
13:58Then she slowly started getting back to normal.
14:01Then she started talking about her cat fetish.
14:04She tells me she has a list of people who she tames to act like cats.
14:08I am not about judging people on their fetishes so I listen.
14:12She then tells me about all the things she does to them and starts acting like a cat in my living room.
14:18If she had not yelled at me earlier on, I might have been almost turned on by it.
14:23My red flags in my head were tingling like crazy at this point so I just listened and tried not to set her off.
14:31She noticed sage on my kitchen counter and asked me to light it and bless the house.
14:36I use sage to make my house smell better occasionally.
14:39It is kind of a ritual I like to do but it is mine to my own.
14:43Something I take very personally and like to do myself.
14:46I tell her no, she can't light it and that it is my thing to do on my own.
14:51She freaks out telling me I am a horrible human being and screaming all over the place.
14:56I told her I can take her home now and she runs to the door and goes outside.
15:00As I get outside she is screaming at the top of her lungs that I am a horrible person and I should go die.
15:06I tell her she can walk herself home then and I go back to my place and lock the door.
15:11She then starts banging on the door hard in about 10 minutes saying she left her phone in there.
15:16I grab her phone off the kitchen counter and open the door to hand it to her.
15:20She tries to barge inside and I block her with my forearm.
15:25She acts like she is about to punch me.
15:27I just hold my ground and tell her she is not coming in.
15:30She screams she wanted the whiskey bottle we were drinking from and I told her hell no because I paid for the damn thing.
15:36I slam the door at that point and lock it.
15:39I hear her bang on the door for a minute then her footsteps going down the stairs.
15:44I waited about an hour and then went walking outside to see if she was still hanging around.
15:48I didn't see her nor did I ever see her again after that.
15:52I know this is probably not the scariest encounter ever but for the next few nights I was creeped out.
15:57Always walking around the area I lived to make sure she wasn't hanging around.
16:01Honestly I hope she is okay wherever she is but I hope to never see her again.
16:06I was dating this guy for a while and really liked him.
16:14Long story short he said he couldn't see himself marrying me but still wanted a date.
16:18So I broke up with him.
16:20A little bit of time went by and I decided to get back into the dating pool on Tinder even though I hate dating apps.
16:26Matched with this guy named Chad.
16:29Good looking, educated, sense of humor.
16:32After a couple of weeks we exchanged numbers and continued chatting.
16:36We discussed meetings several times but our schedules clashed.
16:39One day Chad texts me and asks to Venmo me some money to treat myself to a couple bottles of wine.
16:45Sounds awesome, I oblige.
16:48He also asks if I'd like to come over to his house after work.
16:51Says other people will be there.
16:54No pressure if I feel uncomfortable.
16:57Etc.
16:58It actually didn't feel weirded out at all by this point and I carry so I agree.
17:03I bring the wine and head over to Chad's after work.
17:06He's there and two of his friends are too.
17:09They all seem perfectly nice and normal.
17:12First weird thing.
17:14Four total kitchen cabinets are completely ripped apart and smashed.
17:17This is a newer kitchen.
17:19Nice cabinets.
17:21I inquire about the damage and Chad says he was mad so he punched them.
17:26Decided to not say anything about it.
17:28I grab an unopened beer for myself then a coffee.
17:32Everything else is fine until I'm done with the coffee.
17:35One of the friends leaves and a few minutes later it's like someone has flipped a switch on Chad.
17:39He completely loses his shit out of nowhere.
17:42He throws a metal bar stool across the house.
17:45Screaming like a lunatic child.
17:47He chucks his phone to the kitchen wall.
17:49The remaining friend steps outside to smoke.
17:52Chad comes up to me out of nowhere and bites my leg.
17:55I hit him in the leg and he stops momentarily and then bites me again.
18:00I hit him in the head hard as shit this time and he stops.
18:04I ask for the bathroom and he walks over to show me and
18:07I don't know how else to explain this but
18:09he quite literally hurls himself up into the air in the hallway.
18:13And lands flat on his back outside the bathroom door.
18:16Chad then gets mad that he has hurled himself onto the floor and
18:20punches a hole through the adjacent wall.
18:23I politely excuse myself to the restroom in utter shock.
18:27I come out of the bathroom.
18:29Chad approaches me and starts crying.
18:32Absolutely wailing.
18:33Going on about how his father is sick.
18:36This is a terrible time in his life.
18:38Blah blah blah.
18:39I'm ready to get the heck out but I'm also concerned this guy may
18:42actually hurt someone and at the time felt some sort of responsibility
18:46to try to prevent that.
18:48I call him down some and Chad's friend comes back in.
18:51The friend is suggesting that we go fishing.
18:54Chad says he will but would prefer to stay at the house to get to know me better.
18:58No way in hell.
19:00I agree to fishing so I can follow in my car and bail.
19:03Walking outside Chad's friend gets in the driver's seat of Chad's car.
19:08I walk around and let the friend know I will be following in my car.
19:12They're cool with it.
19:13I get in the car.
19:14The door is still open.
19:16Chad realizes I am not in his car,
19:18storms over and demands and begs I ride with him.
19:21He is completely adamant but I stick to my guns and refuse.
19:25He says to go the heck home then and slams my car door shut.
19:30He then gets in the passenger seat of his car with his friend and they drive off.
19:34I sit for a few minutes calming down processing and pulling up GPS to go home.
19:40I start driving through the neighborhood, make it around three corners and stop dead.
19:44Chad is standing in the middle of the road facing me.
19:47He runs up my car at full sprint and slams both hands on the hood as hard as he can and
19:52runs them down like some sort of horror movie scene.
19:55He runs over to my side, tries opening my door and rear door and screams for me to open them.
20:00I decline.
20:01He punches my window then the rear.
20:04I slam it in reverse and floor it around the corner as he chases me on foot.
20:09I slam the car back in drive and speel out of there as fast as I can.
20:13I see the friend pulling back into the neighborhood and honk but I don't slow down.
20:17I heard him yell sorry as I drove by.
20:20The next day, Chad's friend found me on Facebook and messaged me apologizing and saying he had
20:25never seen that behavior before.
20:27Chad also texts me and tries to apologize, saying his friend told him that he went psycho
20:32and he doesn't remember anything.
20:34I tell him he's lucky I didn't shoot him and to never contact me again.
20:38I have permanent bruises from the bites.
20:43I think he's worthy of that type of Guan.
20:46I give up his soul for an excuse to kill his brain,
